I fucking hate acne

It sucks, but it's normal. I know you don't want to hear this and just want it to go away now, but once your body levels out its hormones, your acne will dissipate and the times you felt insecure around girls b/c of it will be forgotten!
I had break outs in middle school and thought it was the end of the world, but my skin evened out and those past insecurities don't matter in the slightest bit.

i never had it too rough, definetly rocked at least a couple pimples from grade 8-12 though. they were fun to pop. If its bad you could use some acne creams they actually work. there is no point of fighting them though, they are going to be there whether you want them to or not and one day theyll be gone and you won't even have noticed

just a little acne related storry for yaa'l. so today i was sittin in the bathroom aplying my acne medison. so i see this fly like one of those ones thats really slow and slugish. i decide to put some of my acne cream on it and i swear it started to burn. not like flames or anything but it was straight up melting or somethin because it totaly spased out and died instantly. it smelt like poop too. nott just like that smell u gett when a fly dies in a lamp and fries to death butt this was nasty. so i decided to take some of that spray u use after your shit smells reall bad and i sprayed the whole bathroom. so now i got a dead fly sittin on my bathroom counter.

Accutane (Isotretinoin/Roaccutane), the Powerfully Effective, but Controversial Drug

How does Accutane work so well against acne in so many cases?

Because it accomplishes several things simultaneously that no other medicine can do all at the same time:

  • reducing oil production (sebum) by reducing sebaceous glands,
  • decreasing cell build up leading to whiteheads or blackheads,
  • killing acne bacteria deep inside the skin, and
  • reducing inflammation.

Normal oil production in your skin will return when you

complete your Accutane course. The sebaceous glands will slowly grow

larger in size, but will never reach their original size.

Accutane is generally prescribed for stubborn moderate to severe or nodular acne

that is resistant to several different treatments. It can quickly

reduce severe acne inflammatory lesions by 90%. ( Source: Journal of

the American Academy of Dermatology, November 2001, Supplemental, pages

188–194).

But dermatologists remain careful with who they give a prescription to. It is not a true “cure” and to date there is no cure available for acne, only treatments.

For the remaining users where accutane does not work the first

time around, they may be recommended to wait for about 6 months before

they try a second course of Accutane. If their acne returns after the

second course, the drug has likely failed. For 10% of users, acne comes

back after one year. For 25% of users, acne comes back after two

years.

If your acne returns, you may want to try antibiotics or you could still try Accutane again.

How does accutane work over a long period of time?

Isotretinoin doesn’t always work. Sometimes it makes acne worse

before it gets better. Sometimes, it makes acne much worse than it

originally was and causes horrible scarring.

How is accutane prescribed?

Generally accutane is introduced at a very low dose and is

steadily increased over many weeks. There actually are no specific

guidelines as to how much should be prescribed to each person. However,

research shows that a total dose of around 120mg per kilogram of an

individual’s body weight is enough to banish acne for some time.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to tackling acne with accutane:

  1. The high-dose: This is the method most used in the US where

it is usually used for women. This means they would have to endure any

potential side effects during the first few months.
  2. The low-dose: This refers to consuming a lower than average

dose each day, or less over a longer duration. This results in less

side effects during the initial months with the exception of pregnancy.

(Source: Preston, Lydia. Breaking Out. New York: Fireside, 2004.)

Usually all other prescription acne medication is discontinued while on Accutane.

Take the medicine with food, you can take the entire daily dose with supper, this increases the absorption of the medicine.

How do I know if Accutane will work for me? How does accutane work for others?

There is no way to know if Accutane will work for you or if you

will suffer from any of its side effects. However, you can gather your

own opinion by reading some accutane journals. You may even think about

keeping your own Accutane journal if you decide to use it and get a

prescription from your doctor.

Have a look at some

first-hand experiences from an accutane journal

on using Accutane.

Epiduo has worked wonders for me! its a Gel and you just put it on after you wash your face and the next day no joke like 25% of your acne is gone! I swear by the product, even though it can cost around 100-200$ per bottle completley worth it. By the way its much cheaper if you have insurance it ranges from 30-50 per bottle!

actually let m e rephrase that she said it would be a good replacement for a pill or heavy acne medicaion, not to sure about how safe accutane is but to my knowledge it is very safe and must be prescribed for.

Did this before.

Downsides

-dry/chapped lips for 5 months straight

-possibly dry skin

-possibly dry eyes

Upsides

-all three of the downsides are treatable easily (chapstick, moisturizer, omega 3 pills)

-acne will be gone forever (with the occasional exception of a pimple every now and then)

Warnings

-don't take two pills one day just because you missed a day

-try not to miss a day

-USE CHAPSTICK

-don't apply other acne creams while on accutane unless you are REALLY self conscious

-your acne wont get better for the first 2-3 months, but by the end of the 4th month your skin will be better than ever before

I just went to my doctor and he wrote out a prescription for some stuff that seems to have done the trick. But yeah, obv never touch your face and if you have a kinda oily face like me, leaving it on your face kinda makes me break out so at school just wipe your face every once in a while with a paper towel or something.

Make sure that you're washing your face with a cloth, not your hands, (does basically nothing for me) and remember that a dry face is way less prone to acne. I'd way rather have a dry face than one covered with acne.

And also don't squeeze them hard at all cause that's what makes it noticeable.

Man this is fucking gross, I would never talk about this outside of online haha.

i use lemon juice. i swear by it! i havent gotten rid of it completely, but it helps a ton along with general care and washing your face. it works because the citric acid cleans out your pores and softens your skin.

i just rub it on where i need it, it stings fro about 5 minuets then i wash it off with water of a facecloth about 20-30 mins later. make sure to get it all off tho! its so cheap too

i have this shit except its got aloe in it or something but its literally like infusing your face with a breathmint. it actually helps though. its been sitting in my bathroom for months and i finally decided to actually use it

ive gone from rinsing my face 2-3x a day with an acne cleanser, and using an acne lotion during the day. to doing pretty much nothing for the past week, ive been using an acne wash and this exfoliating brush every other morning or longer and just rinsing with water whenever my face feels dirty or whatev and my acne has cleared up like crazy. now im gonna start using no cleanser at all and just water and see what happens.

I read up about this and it makes a lot of sense why its been working for me. our skins oil and sweat creates an acidic layer than protects the skin from bacteria and other harmful elements. so when you are whiping away this layer every day and layering yourself with chemicals, it makes sense that it would be harsh on your face and potentially create more breakouts.

My friend took this pill called acutane and you take it for 8 months and it is supposed to stop acne for the rest of your life, he says you get the odd zit here and there but it's worth it. I don't know how much it is for a prescription, or the side effects. But ask about it.

I didn't have acne at all as a teen. High school my face was perfectly clear. Then, in college around age 21 my face blew up. So if you're in the clear now, don't think it will be that way forever.

6 years later, I'm pretty good, but always seem to have one zit somewhere.

It's all about the bacteria. Washing your face, cleaning your pillow case, etc these are all things that will manage the bacteria on the outside of your skin, but when the acne is full blown, their is so much bacteria just under the surface of the skin and growing that it needs to be treated systemically.

Go to the Dr. Get some antibiotics. Take lots. Wash your face when it gets dirty or sweaty, moistureize/hydrate your skin after.

It takes time to clear, so don't stop with the antibiotics until you run out of pills.

like just a dry towel? i wash my face erryday, and im 19 but i still seem to get fucking zits, not terrible but noticeable. ive tried epiduo, proactive, but i found the best way is to use the face mask thing you use at night for proactive and this nutregena face wash i have keeps em down pretty good
