I Dislike.. Vegetarians..Peta and green peace

no, your stupid, that not how it works. the more beef you eat, the more the beef companies are going to make, the more they are going to up their production (they are not stupid), the more cows they are going to try to rase, the more forests they are going to cut down.

I would have thought all that was obvious. these are compaines. not jsut random cows. they want to make profit. they rase cows to make money. if we ate em all, they would just try to rase that many more cows.

There are some very interesting opinions on this topic. I think some of you need to look at where you're getting your facts from. As a major in diet and physical activity, I noticed that alot of the nutrition information here is skewed.

The fact of the matter is that yes, the human body is designed to be capable of digesting animal products. Keep in mind that the diet of a human infant consists of 100% breast milk, an animal product. The ability to eat vegetables does not appear until the infant begins to teathe. This being said, American society certainly consumes more meat products and less vegetable products than are recommended by the FDA.

A strictly vegan diet does not provide all of the essential nutrients. The FDA recommends that we balance our diet by eating a mixture of vegetables and whole grains aswell as some animal products. Milk and fish in particular and minimizing red meat.

Just one last word about supplements... not healthy. While the produce found in grocery stores is highly regulated for both saftely, content, labelling and validity of the claims made on the packaging and commercials, supplements are unregulated. As a result, supplements do not have to contain what they say they contain and they do not have to be scientifically proven to be safe. For example, omega supplements are often contaminated with mercury because they are concentrated fish oils and mercury is stored in the fat of fish.

As for the environment, I am all for trying to preserve it. but I don't think violent protests and insults are the way to go about it and I also don't think cutting out meat is the biggest problem. someone said that cows produce 25% of the earths co2, but I heard a stat that said that ants/termites produce over a third of the co2... so should we start putting out ant traps and raid?

Yea, I'll go check it out. I'm not too sure where I read that. But i think it's safe to say that if we killed off ants we'd fuck the environment up worse than we could ever imagine.

Hey, I also heard through the media that since we've stopped using PCB's in cooling systems etc, that the wholes in the ozone layer have not only stopped getting bigger but the ozone layer is rebuilding. I'll look for a source on that one too.

im sorry, I cant hear tone of voice over the internet. And while you may have been joking, im sure there are some people on here who would say something like that withought being joking.

90% of green peace's activities are terrorist related... news to me. and seriously, the sister comment was unfunny, and unnecessary.

As much as I don't like the fact that I am eating an animal, I still love eating chicken, turkey, beef, whatever. It's tasty and I like it, plus it's got protein so it's good to add it in here and there. I don't like how vegetarians always pride themselves on it, like, I eat very healthy, but that doesn't mean I go around proclaiming it. If I'm at a party and hamburgers are the food of choice, I'm not gonna say "nah I don't eat that, now hand me a rice cake will you?", I just eat it since it's like once a month.

An example of a vegetarian proclaiming shit is this girl I graduated with, in our grad DVD we had a BBQ at the school and she was holding a burger, and when asked to say something for grad she said "I'm not eating this".

Yeah.

PETA = Thumbs Up. I have a dog, and I love my dog, and I haven't seen my dog in 5 weeks and I miss my dog. If my dog were to go through the same kind of treatment as many dogs out there in third world countries I would feel like shit. I'm glad that PETA is out there to raise pet awareness, reduce the useless killing of animals for fur, and raise the awareness of animal abuse in factories. They had a movie of a chicken/turkey factory where one of their members got a job there and had a hidden camera videotaping the whole ordeal. He was there, working, killing chickens. But what he was doing was making sure they were killed as painlessly as possible and in the least traumatic way for the animals. The video was based on the employees, though, they'd slam chickens into cages, break their legs, punch them, kick them, one guy even stuck his fingers into what is basically the chicken's vagina.

Greenpeace = Thumbs up. I love the outdoors, I love skiing, I don't want my beautiful skiing experience to die, and I want my future children and grandchildren to experience what skiing is about. I belive in recycling, using as little energy as possible, alternate methods of energy, fuel efficient cars and sports cars (Volkswagen's EcoRacer does 0-60 in 6 seconds and gets 69mpg), and preserving natural habitats for animals and vegetation.

So, if you hunt for sport, drive a big truck/SUV in a city, leave your lights on, throw your recyclables in the trash, and destroy natural habitats by going off-trail or using a vehicle, then I say fuck you, you don't deserve to live on this planet.

i don't want to call you an idiot, so i won't. But i do think you're being a bit ignorant. All of the groups you named want attention because they feel that they have something very important to say, which they pretty much do. All 3 groups have good aims, well at least PETA and green peace do...i sort of agree with you about vegatarians because every one of them i've encountered has been stuck up in their ways (but fine, so be it). But PETA and green peace want attention because treating animals ethically is important and should be enforced, and green peace is too. When a species goes extinct because the fur on your hood had to be authentic and when we rip a bigger hole in the atmosphere because your hummer couldn't be downsized and use a renewable resource as fuel it would be interesting to see what you'd be saying. I understand why you dislike vegatarians and i guess PETA in some aspects, but keep in mind the purposes of them rather than how fucking annoying the people who support them are, ya know?

vegitarians are super good for the environment, by not supporting the beef/whateverotheranimal industry, they are saving all kinds of cow shit from contaminanting groundwater and contributing to global warmning, along with saving all the extra land that is taken up by actually growing all the crops used to feed these masses of animals. There's tones more that i forget but it definately made alot of sense to me.

vegitarians are lookin out for you

john lennon or something made a doccumentry and we watched it in foods class. After that we made some awesome vegitarian lasagna with perfect balance of incomplete vegitable proteins that, when put together properly, act exactly like or even better than proteins found in meat. The proteins are also digested more easily than the animal proteins.

If I had the paitence, I would be a vegitarian, but it's a lot of extra work so..

Thank - you. and the groundwater issue is huuge. There are aquifers that lead to springs where the water coming out is over 70 years old - so what happens when all the effluent from these days' intensive farming leaches into those aquifers and contaminates our future water supply. This is proven even in NZ, where we are meant to be "clean and Green" Fucken joke.

And being vegetarian is not hard at all - its fun and make syou feel great. I recommend it.

i dislike vegetarians who are cocky about it and look down on non-vegetarians. vegetarians who just don't like meat and keep it to themselves are fine, more meat for us right? PETA is total horse shit and they should be ashamed of their hypocritical behavior and over all 'assholeishness'. greenpeace i have nothing against, they promote preventing climate change, renewable fuels, and protecting the planet. isn't that something we all want?
