Want to major in something to do with conservation and wildlife

Hoping to work in Estes Park, CO when I'm older

Just a question to anyone that may know this answer.

If you apply with a specific field, but change your mind after you send the applications, is this significant in any way? I know there are tons of field changes in college, I'm just not sure what it will mean going into freshman year.

I'm no expert on this but I'll give an answer I guess.

Pretty sure unless you are in a specialized program such a a biomedical engineering track or a special med school track it won't be a big deal. however, i also assume it would be very tough to switch schools/majors in the most prestigious universities. And obviously the earlier you switch the better. If you decide to change like in junior year or something, I doubt you'll graduate on time.

Yea im not going anywhere prestigious nor do I want to. For what I want in life, I don't need the power of an ivy league school or anything. Stoked on you for absolutely murdering it in school though. Never had that work ethic to do something I despise so much.

CU Boulder represent. Leeds school of business myself

I'm just trying to measure my chances of getting in. I have a 2.9 gpa including a failed class but with lots of AP and HL IB classes, a 29 on the act (36 on reading section so hopefully that helps), a good essay and supporting docs as well as good extracurriculars. I'm really worried about the low gpa especially since I haven't done anything this senior yr to bring it up. That being said what do you think my chances of getting in are, or if not that do you know of people with similar gpa and act scores that got in? Thanks

I'd imagine you'd get in with a 29 on the ACT

You will get in most likely, the average ACT is think is 24-26 about, so you are 3 over the top of the average. That will help and 2.9 GPA isn't going to help you, but I don't think its going to drag you down too far. If your essay is good, and you took harder classes, you have a very good shot in my eyes. I think if you explain why you failed a class too, you will be golden. Just my thoughts.

accepted to cu boulder for civil engineering, gonna go there. applied to a bunch of other north east schools though but i told myself distance doesnt matter so im going out west

UPENN and Cornell alumni interviews this weekend. Anyone know what to expect/tips?

Same as always, it'l probably be chill and they'l ask the normal questions: "why *insert school*?", "what book did you last read", some as your opinion on current events, didn't expect it in my last interview.

I'd have some questions for the interviewer.

If they're your first interviews, just relax and be yourself. Don't try to be what you think they want because it'l backfire. Also, interviews usually aren't a huge factor in admissions so don't be too nervous.

Ive only applied to u of washington so far... Prolly wont get in. Applying to cu boulder, CSU fort collins, U of Denver, U of Oregon, Lewis and Clark, U of Vermont, and u of m duluth by jan 15. Might also apply to UBC in Vancouver but they only look an your senior yr grades which will forsure be hella weak so idk. I have a 2.9 gpa so really counting on rigorous course schedule 29 on act and good essay and extracurriculars.

Current UW student here,

Best of luck on getting in, I have a bias but I love this school. It may not have the best opportunities when it comes to skiing compared to MSU/UofU etc. But so far this season I've gotten so really good pow days at Stevens Pass. Good luck man and hope to see a fellow NSer here!

Yeah I just realized I never sent in my act score so Im forsure not getting in. I appreciate the support though haha. I really liked what I saw when I visited so I'm hyped for you!

Why not send it now? All schools I've seen accept the scores after their deadline because they take several weeks to get mailed in from college board or whatever. I feel like a school that size gets a fair amount of late score submissions.

Dude send it now! College board is in transition from an old to new SAT so all electronic scores were delayed because of them. Claim your scores got held up

Well I have a 3.4, consistent thru senior year, with 3 aps and some honors classes. actually I had a higher gpa first semester this year. and I finessed the sat. plus lacrosse junior and senior year, 27 hours of community service, co-leader of the student run fan section at my HS, and a couple interesting hobbies got me in.

My boy who was looking there but got deferred had a 3.3-3.4 ish he said and idk about his Sats or extracurriculars sorry, so I have no real idea if you'll get in, but a 29 on the act sounds like enough to get you in come regular decision time. Just my 2 cents

Lots of state schools have gotten back, and most other decisions will be out within a couple weeks.

How'd everyone do?

Got into the honors program at Bing. Would go there for basically room and board only with the STEM incentive or whatever. Super cheap option. Still on the bottom of my list. Hyped for all the other decisions in the next couple of weeks.

Anyone East Coast? VT, Mass, NH, Maine?

Just got accepted into Champlain in Burlington which is tied with westminster as my first choice so im hyped on that

Currently on the hunt for colleges so far as I'm only a junior. Colleges Ive visited so far, or tagged along with my older bro:

TCU

Denver

U of Utah

U of Vermont

Hobart (NY)

Miami FL

U of Minnesota

U of Minnesota Duluth

Northeastern

BU

TCU, Dnever, and Utah have been my favorite, but TCU has no snow so its not likely. Still looking at MSU and hopefully will go there, as I could get some scholarship money.

Nice. I just got into UVM (and the honors program) so I might be in Burlington next year too.

All you homies that are applying to BU and got questions hit me up.

Was an hour away from completing my app when I realized I really didn't want a giant urban school (or to write their bs honors college essay).

How do you like it though? I know a lot of kids who applied.

I actually just signed up for the Orientation at UVM on June 23-24. Im pretty stoked to be headed up there next year.

Getting on that film school grind, is anyone else doing that on here? So far I've gotten into Chapman University and Loyola Marymount, waiting to hear back from USC, NYU, and Emerson. I really dig Chapman so far, as they gave me a solid scholarship and they have a phenomenal program, so unless I beat that 4% acceptance rate at USC (lolright) I'll probably end up there. I did get a phone interview with USC a couple weeks ago so I think I'm at least in the hunt. Fingers crossed!
