Working on my app to CU but I live 3 minutes off campus so 99% sure I'm not going there. Just a safety school.

Good luck to seniors applying right now!

13741880:.ZT. said:The party scene definitely is live, especially if you know the right people. From my experience it's a lot different than partying at US schools because alcohol and weed are legal for most students (19+). For first year you can drink openly in your room or in the lounge and smallish floor parties can do down and after that most people live off campus in apartments or houses (so more parties). Fraternities have a series of large bangers at the start of every year to encourage people to rush and to hype up first year students, but their parties are less fun than house parties and clubs I've been to. As far as rushing frats you could ask someone involved in greek life, but I feel like its overhyped and most people are pretty chill outside of frats so theres no need. Lots of kids go out clubbing/drinking on weekends at bars or clubs in the area or you can enjoy some weed at a cannabis lounge/dab bar. People are pretty academically oriented but at a huge university there are definitely a lot of people still down to party.
As far as Vancity overall I find it pretty amazing. I grew up in Boston and it's way different here but I love the friendly chill vibe. The city is big but not overwhelming or crowded, we're close to the beach, mountains and nature and its a nice diverse place. I don't own a bike here, but the Mountain bike scene at Whistler is insane and I know a lot of people on campus are into biking and action sports in general.

13742280:Brocka_Flocka said:Damn. Sounds like a perfect place.
what would you say about the quality of student (intelligence level, vibes, etc..) I know it's only October, but what about some of the closer resorts (grouse, Seymour, cypress).
Also that campus skatepark. If that isn't idea idk what is.
13742370:.ZT. said:Yea man I absolutely love this place. The skate park is pretty ideal for sure. Most students here are very intelligent and motivated in their field of study, friendly and chill to almost everyone, and there are all kinds of people so you can find your group. I have intelligent conversations with friends from the classroom to the beach to the party and I think that says a lot about the quality of students here. As far as closer skiing to campus, we just had a railjam (my skis are getting shipped so I couldn't ride) and Grouse seems to be the main place to go for park skiing nearby. Night skiing is definitely an option if you schedule yourself well, but I'm going to probably mostly just be at Whistler on the weekends and days off. I can see snow on the mountain tops from across the bay and I can't wait to get up there.

Applying to cu boulder, CSU fort collins, U of Denver, U of Oregon, Lewis and Clark, U of Vermont, and u of m duluth by jan 15. Might also apply to UBC in Vancouver but they only look an your senior yr grades which will forsure be hella weak so idk. I have a 2.9 gpa so really counting on rigorous course schedule 29 on act and good essay and extracurriculars.

13747010:foolmetwice said:This is from last year thanks tho. Ironically DU ended up being the only other school I got into besides CSU. I ended up getting all d's and f's senior yr (going from a 3.1 to a 2.4 in the process) and just barely finnessed my way into not getting rescinded by
CSU by sending some really good bullshitted emails and showing I "made a life change" by going on a bike trip from minneapolis to maine (only made it to toronto) because thats when I found out I wasnt getting rescinded rescinded and literally flew straight home, spent a day packing, and sent it out to csu. Lol my admissions person literally had to check and see if it would be breaking any university policies to accept me. Anyways I'm out here at csu now having a pretty good time but strugglin to get out to the mountains. I know some people down at du tho and ima try to send it down there a couple times this yr to party at du and then head up to the mountains the next morning so I'll let you know if and when I make it happen.

I am debating if i should retake since my english and science scores were way higher than predicted (30) but my reading was predicted to be a 28. I don't want to retake it if I am not going to go up in score.
