How to recover from a cold quickly?

so all my local hills have opened and there is snow on the ground but.. im sick. i really want to go shred tomorrow but i need to get better. what can i do to help myself? i took dayquil and im planning on sitting in the steam of a hot shower and sleeping alot after that but other than that i need help

i need to ski or i am going to go insane

just take dayquil around the clock as labeled. drink lots of fluids, gatorade/powerade isn't a bad choice. have some hot soup, get lots of sleep. you won't feel 100%, but with the adrenaline of getting to ski, that might help offset some of it too.

just take it from southpark, chicken noodle soup and gingerale fixes all ailments.

While vitamin c helps, you can't really "shock" your system with it. Your body just takes the amount it needs and discards the rest. So taking a lot of vitamin c is actually a waste of money.

Emergen-c works best when you take it very early in your cold. Like when you just first feel the symptoms of it. It still will help now, so generally I take a pack when I wake up and a pack before bed.

Honestly, sleep is your best bet and lots of water. Tea for the antioxidants. But tea dehydrates you, so more water.

Aside from that, just relax. If you go ski and push your body its just going to take even longer to get back to 100%. And you also run the risk of developing a sinus or ear infection.
 
There is NO evidence that zinc or Vitamin C have any effect on the duration of a cold (Just a few inconclusive trials). Just take it easy, relieve your symptoms with an NSAID, and keep hydrated (Important).

I know that, it's just how I like to describe taking a lot of vitamins. I just take like 2-4 chewable tablets of Vitamin C(500mg) through the day when I start to get sick and usually helps a lot, unless I get the flu.

I've never taken Emergen-c because it's like $6 for a tub of 90-120 chewable tablets, and it seems to work for me. If you would consider $6 a waste of money then whatever, it's cheaper than buying cold medicine.

came to say this. last spring break I had a cold for two weeks straight, just downed some emergen-c twice a day and skied 10 out of 14 days.

Add in some ibuprofen before you go, and bring some so you can re up when it starts to wear off. It'll mask your sore throat, headache, and muscle aches. Ibuprofen is life.

I wouldn't take a decongestant because you're going to be out in cold dry air. You're just asking for nosebleeds.
 
simmer ginger in a cup of water for 5 min, then add a thai chilli and mint. add this whole mixture to a tall glass with 2 shots of white rum, the juice of two limes, and a 1/4 cup of honey. that might seem like a lot of honey but with the heat of the whole chilli, and the acidity of the lemons, you really need that sweetness to balance it.

all of those ingredients are very anti inflammatory, and give your body antioxidants, while also clearing the fuck out of your throat. the rum may not be beneficial nutritionally, but i find it really helps with soothing my throat, and clearing mucus.

by the way this drink is also awesome when taking vape or bong hits, makes the hits much smoother.

other than that, eat a lot of home made bone broth if you happen to have any, coconut oil or milk can help with colds too.

I like the emergen c, but that sounds pretty awesome. I love coconut oil! I do everything from use it on dry skin in winter to cook eggs to make edibles, stuff is the bomb!
 
Feeling sick? Put skis on and hurl yourself down a mountain as many times as possible. I'm sure your body will figure out how to get rid of your cold.

If you're serious about stopping a cold then why would you stop there? That kind of treatment will only scratch the surface. Colds these days don't fuck around. You gotta go all or nothing when you boof. A little nyquil up your butthole will get you some temporary relief but it doesn't have a prayer of completely curing the modern cold.

Don't you read any medical journals? There was a big article on this topic last spring. I'll forward it to you.

well i tried a bunch of this shit, i took alot of nyquil and dayquil and drank 2 packets of emergen c and today i woke up feeling amazing. thanks guys. NS saved my life
