Hey
This thread is mostly for the new people out there who haven't
been on NS a lot/at all and are unsure of what to post. So below is a
list of what you should and should not post, as well as some things to think about.
Thoughts before posting
1)
Before you dare think about making a post in any forum section use the
search bar. This is the most used flame for people on the internet who
make redundant post that could be answered by using a simple search.
Anyone that has funny pictures of search bar flames post them up for a
laugh.
2)Is your post going to contribute to the forums? Give
that a second or two of though instead of putting down the first dumb
ass idea that pops into your head. Anything that will have no or a
negative effect on the thread goes into a cult or the Non-ski gabber.
3)Did
you research before you made the post? This part is crucial if you are
asking a question. Again refer to #1 for this as well as the rest of
the internet for help. Two biggest sites to get help from Google and
Wikipedia.org
4)Are you posting in the right section? Recently
NS underwent a change and split ski gear from the B/S/T forum so you
need to think about what your posting. There is also the Media &
Arts, Ski Gabber, Site Discussion, Regionals, Cults and Camps. It is
acceptable to post something in Ski Gabber instead of Regionals or
Media & Arts if you have a really dope video like the Gus Kenworth,
or Redbull ski updates, or some sick segment of Jon's baller ass comps,
etc.
Things you should not post/do
This list can go on forever and I encourage people to post up other things that need not be posted
1.
Anything under an alias account. If you made one and are thinking
about posting chances are it's complete utter bullshit and a waste of
everyones time. Your e-penis will not grow from alias posts.
2. Unless you really feel necessary DO NOT post
"How to do ...." trick threads. The key to learning how to do new
tricks is A. Try it for yourself or B. talk to someone at your hill who
can do it. Trying to learn a trick on the internet isn't that great,
and besides there are already lot's of threads out there about your
trick, and they are just one a search bar away.
3. Don't post
stupid questions like "Who is the steeziest skier?" or "Post your
favorite ski picture" or flame trends in the ski industry such as "NO
POLES IF FOR F!#$*(% F@#*$" these are useless and usually start flame
wars. The only time you are allowed to do this is when you
have a lots of evidence of how steezy x number of skiers are and you
want to talk about them. That covers a lot of the stupid ones.
4.
One of the first to have next years gear? Hell yah post that up... WITH
PICTURES!! Without it don't bother unless you are letting people know
that the gear has been shipped.
5. Post reviews. There is a
section for this so post in both but some people have put extensive
helpful reviews in the forums. Just make sure it is helpful and it's
not about you and your oversized ego.
6. Post news! A lot of it
is covered by the front page but sometimes there are things or inside
news people have that need to be heard. Maybe your mountain is having
a contest and nothing has been said, do a quick search to make sure you
weren't jerking yourself off in the bathroom for too long and in that
time it was posted, use the search bar.
7. Bumping old threads
is a no no. Unless it has some historical significance or something
funny that was once forgotten don't bother. And make sure you didn't
accidentally go back really far without knowing and post in some dead
thread.
Most other stuff is fine to post, just don't post
useless shit that wastes people's time. And for those of you who have
been itching to post a reply along the lines of "this is the internet,
no one gives a shit what you think" I realized that. The internet is
one of those things that stop peoples fist from coming in contact with
the faces of idiots out there, be great full that's so.
Also
I didn't proofread this, sorry for any grammatical errors. Do to the
lack of an edit button I'll post any corrections. If I forgot to add
something post it up for all else to see. Enjoy.
