How to gain weight k+

believe what you want.
i'm the asshole in the gym who makes fun of the guys who waste so much time worrying about getting in their 6-8 small meals a day. If you knew anything about how the human body works you would know that your body does not go catabolic because you have not eaten in 3 hours lol.
It all comes down to your over all intake of macros/micros. Timing does not matter, your body is not on a set clock and it is much smarter then you think it is.

i sleep for 8-9 hours every night. I said 3 hours because thats the "typical" time interval for broscience followers to consume their food. My point is your body won't go catabloic over night.

There is proof of it, but its has varied between studies. Everyones body is different, so obviously the effects vary.

Taken from WebMD

"Creatine is a natural substance that turns into creatine phosphate in the body. Creatine phosphate helps make a substance called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP provides the energy for muscle contractions."

Taken from UMD Website

"Creatine is a naturally occurring amino acid (protein building block) that's found in meat and fish, and also made by the human body in the liver, kidneys, and pancreas

So, here are my facts, now what were you saying?

Just because they're the best weight lifters of NS? I bet there are other member who know more about lifting than those two, just because they are SWOLLLLL!

Any person can become "big" but that does not mean they understand how the body works. People have to understand that everyones body is different, and just because your workout works, it may not work for others.

My brother is 6'2 and 185, but can put up 285 and has never taken a SINGLE supplement. Does that mean he knows more about working out than anyone else? No. But he has taken the time to take anatomy, biology, and chemistry courses to learn more about metabolism, enzymes, etc. It doesnt hurt that he can lift that much, but it helps that he takes courses that teach him about the human body.

yes.. you are correct it's less, but again my point was your body will not go catabolic over night.
For me, my night is 9 hours. If my body did go catabolic every night i wouldn't be making gains and a shit ton of other people wouldn't be either.
your wasting your time and money if your taking casein every night before bed of waking up in the middle of the night for "muscle fuel." the human body is a lot smarter than that. just saying..

if you go catabolic for 4 hours per day and are anabolic for the other 20 are you going to be making gains?

regardless, its just another opportunity to get some macros in.

Yeah sorry, that's what I was trying to get at.

Like my friend who is 17 (18 in October) is benching 365, he's fucking ripped, and he doesn't take any supplements either. He's just crazy.

Pump your veins full of lard that should put a couple lb's on. Or go on a strict crispy creame only diet. Either way bitches will flock to you.

Wasn't arguing with your post, I was just backing it up.

Some people just have bodys that gain weight and muscle faster than others.

I myself was born 10 weeks prematurely, and because of that, have an issue where my muscles take more effort to grow than others. My brother on the other hand, has an extremely fast metabolism coupled with an ability to gain muscle very quickly, making it very easy for him to eat tons of protein without worries of gaining extra "fatty" weight.

5.3%? Really? there's no fucking way dude. I'd actually like to see pictures of that....maybe homo?

That's why I said start at 20% protein 30% fat 50% carbs. I agree that everyone should do what works best for them.

You gave the dude your meal plan, when he needs someone to help take the first step.

OP kinda similar situation that you are in. I weigh 150 lbs and I am 5'9, my goal is to get to 160 by spring. I gained 10 lbs since last winter when I started working out so not bad... But all I can say if you think you are eating enough, eat more. Like go to the gym do the work out and do the routines, but you need to simply increase your calorie intake substantially. Given it is difficult because forcing food down your throat isn't really that fun, but you can be gaining a lb a week if you really eat a lot. Combine that with consistent workouts the weight gain will look healthy (at least it did for me...)

LOL at the people who feel like they have something to prove on this thread. Some pissy thinking 6'4". 200# is some impressive number, some with something to prove that they know the most and the guy that replied to his own posts over to the second page so he continue to impress people with his medical terminology. Simply put every one is different and requires a specialized program to meet their fitness goals taking into consideration their metabolism and what their body responds too.

^yeah, my bad on the phone rant, not trying too or shouldn't have singled anyone out. +k to you all. peace

aside from protien shakes and supplements the best thing you can do is eat whenever your hungry, if your working out and burning lots of energy, hunger is your bodies way of teling you what you need. and dont be afraid to even eat a little bit more even when your full (especially if the food tastes good) the excess food will be stored as extra fat and energy giving you way more endurance and initial power because your body has extra nutrients too burn.

I'm just kidding i'm sure its not that easy. A guy on my soccer team has the same issue. He says he been eating absolute crap since the beginning of the season and hes lost weight.

don't take advice from this guy. i can't bother with your first post lol but wow you are not fasting while you sleep overnight..... your body is still digesting, especially if you eat meats.

My one complaint with that website besides the goddamn length is that it uses very VAGUE terms when it says "high dosage". As people have stated, everyones body reacts differently to supplements. What may be high for me may be low for you. People have said before that the FDA does not regulate supplements as they do other drugs, which IMO results in more relaxed efforts to investigate side effects and long term effects of certain supplements.

Studies show that weight lifted has no effect on hypertrophy as long as you're lifting to failure at or above 35% your 1RM. So if you can bench 250 lbs, you could go to the weight room and crank out 40 reps of 95 lbs and still get the same muscle mass increase as if you had done 3 reps of 225. The only difference is the low weight sets consume more calories, so you're slightly more likely to burn fat while doing them, and hence the myth that low weight tones your muscles.

I think he's just trying to gain a bit not become a bodybuilder/gym rat... Weight gain is simple... It's all based puff eating for calories than you burn during a day! Simple as that, it can get as easy or as complicated as you make it. Get some pro complex chocolate gainer from body building.com find a simple excersise plan.. I like 5x5 stufff... Try to do compound lifts that work mor than 1 muscle

^idk what happened... Try to do lifts like squats, deadlifts, weighted wide grip pull ups, bench (not on a machine) to maximize your natural growth... Just start simple and advance with time. Don't burn yourself put by trying to stick so a super strict regiment right off the bat... And remember to work on form first, the weight will come naturally and you'll see results

Also, for a skinny kid tryin to gain weight, a calorie is a calorie is a calorie! (I know that's it's not exactly true don't worry) but just keep an eye on your fat intake and try to get protien with your high cal meals

A calorie is a calorie for anyone.... It's a measurement of energy. There is not a difference in energy yeild between 1 calorie of carbs and 1 calorie of protein.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't the FDA come down on pre-workouts like Jack3d because of their inclusion of DMAA?

Your body actually uses them differently depending on what else is taken in with them... For hardcore body builders it makes a difference... But technically speaking the calorie itself is the same

come on, dude...i legitimately want to see 5.3% body fat.

and more importantly, how in the fuck did you achieve it? that must be close to impossible to maintain...

If you want to gain weight, your going to have to put a lot of time into it.

I suggest reading the book 'Starting Strength' it explains everyhting you need to know about how to get stronger (and of course gain mass along the way) - it explains how to do the workouts, when to do them, and how much weight to use. It is considered the Bible of weight training. It is perfect for getting stronger especially for sports such as football.

There is an extensive summary of the book on the bodybuilding.com forums. You should read the summary within a few days to get started and then read the book along the way to perfect your form and better understand the whole theory behind it.

In addition to Starting Strength, I would suggest using a calorie/macronutrient calculator (on bodybuilding.com) and the app called 'myfitnesspal' to make sure you are eating enough calories with the right amount of fat, carbs, and protein.

yes of course your body uses protein differently then it does fat or carbs. Thats not what you said though, you said not all calories are the same. a calorie=a calorie no matter where it comes from.
