How retarted is the publics view on skiing

They're about 10 years late on that one...

This shows that even if we did have skiing pipe in the olympics, it probably wouldn't blow up as much as you think.

The average ignorant person will still be under the impression that skiing isn't as cool as snowboarding.

we all know skiing will eventually blow up and get real lame, just enjoy it now when its still somewhat core and has a shred of dignity. the more people that dont know what we do the better.
 
When was that written? It musta been a while ago cuz if its not that writers a total fag. And skiing is getting more popular, just this year like 10 kids from my school say theyre gonna get twin tips for skiing, its not gonna blow up any time soon.

the only part i really didnt agree with was the no skiers in a halfpipe part...but impretty sure nobody did. i wrote an article like that last year for my school's newspaper and when i interviewed kids, everyone was saying how skiing was "becoming more freestyle liek snowboarding", and i was like wtf?! its already just as freestlye...dumb fucks at my school gah

stiff boots and narrow boards to ease into snowboarding from skier? those arent to ease into the sport, they are specialized racing equipment

not to mention the "you will never see a pair of skis in the halfpipe" which has already been brought up many times

whoever wrote this article really should be fired for his lack of research and lack of looking at the whole spectrum
 
wtf man i know some people that switch from snowboarding to skiing because they like the fact that you can ride backwards

This means that they have been very popular for a very long time, can't say that for boarders.

Skis are an efficient means of transportation in the snow.

True, but so are lifts and ski-doos, ect. Skis are an effective means of doing rails and jumps also, moguls, biathlon and telemark skiing.

Plus they can also do ski jumping (the one down the very big ramp), though i can't say that for boarders either.

Skiing seems to be the dominant and cooler sport to me.

This is obviously an old article... and it is very accurate for the scene, as you all said, 10 years or so ago...

Until the part about the pipe, it is mostly true... Personally, i see popularity as more than sheer numbers... There are too many skiers for snowboarding to really take over, however, in terms of growth, snowboarding did beat out skiing for many years if im not mistaken...

Either way the fact is, the guy is right, skis were invented for transportation, snowboards were invented for fun. I think the fact that we have created a new sport, and basically new equipment is incredible... If you think about it, we have basically taken an old sport, designed for transportation, and made it into something purely fun...

My only concerns with the article are the last two paragraphs where he made very limiting statements that, as we all know, came to be very much untrue...
