how do you get to chad's from the bottom of alta?

1st the direction are confusing: Just go past alta as far as you can drive. Then you will see a groumed run and you can go up that and then take a left and then fallow the power lines. or go straight up from the parking lot and about 100 feet up you will see a trail and you can walk. then chads will be about 20 min away. So simple go to the end of the parking lot and go up the gulch.

is it from the parking lot? which one (or is it snowbird that has many) or from the end of the road as far you can drive like past brighton?

2nd. I highly doubt I would hit...except if it is already built and all I had to do is to clear the inrun, but I would like to go ski there just to take a look at this legend of skiing if there is other features like decent cliffs or other kickers

3rd does anyone often ski there? I wouldnt go alone for sure. I have an avalanche beeper and all. if anyone plans to ski grizzly gulch between the 2-12 march, hook me up.

4th I thought bringing back this thread was the best way to ask this info.

5th dont flame me I may not have the talent of tanner hall, but i have balls. for proof, just look at my first frontlip attempt ever...I think it was a decent sized jump

montanakid r u gonna hit leviathan gap. have u hit it yet. ur on a roll with chads might as well just hit leviathan and own newschoolers once again
 
hmmm, leviathan you say? if utah has fresh snow, i have a crew from montana, and it is sunny out one day during spring break utah may just be our destination. Leviathan, pyramid, chads, or powder...id have to lean towards powder, but who knows. id love to get people all pissed off about it again.
 
u guys are nuts that jump need to be built to perfection cause the first one to go off is gonna die then u will figure out to build it bigger then the next 1 is gonna over shoot the 3rd guy will do it but the other 2 are gonna need to be in the hospital for a long time
 
ok. when i went out to utah looking to just visit chads i looked at this thread for actual directions. although they may seem a little sketchy, its actually pretty accurate. you take the road up little cottonwood canyon. you will pass snowbird resort and then right after come to alta. there is only 1 road. just keep staying on the road until the very end. the road will actually continue into what looks like a long windy driveway but there will be a bar across it because it is for people that actually live up there(yes, there are houses right close to chads). you will park on the side of the road right next to the bar. then walk past the bar and keep walking on the road. the first part of the road is actually part of a skiing trail so there will ba little cutoff to the right thats another trail. just keep going strait and there will be a hairpin turn in the road going back up the other way. just keep walking, you will start to go uphill in the other direction. in a short time, there will be another turn making you go back the other way. here is where you will pass all the houses. keep walking past all the houses probly about a mile or a little less till you get to the basin of alta. chads will be a very short hike on the left.

Im not from the states, but i am pretty sure that if you are on public land, you have as much right to be there as anyone else.... unless they are doing a photoshoot or something and have got permission from the local council
