How do you attach your bindings to your ski

i just got some new invaders and i dont want to take them into a shop to get mounted

(spent all my money on the skis)

i just wanna no how you mount them and how hard it is

would you guys recomend i bring them in or try myself?

also how would i find the perfect center

close is close man. just ball park where center is it doesnt matter at all.

and just use wood glue and a clamp no screws needed.

if you've never done it before, i wouldn't recommend trying it. if you are serious about doing it yourself practice a couple times on an old pair of skis before messing up the new ones

if you have to ask this question:

"

also how would i find the perfect center"

then you are not qualified to do this on your own

i think i got the consept

do you need a drill or not

dont you just epoxy the screws into the drill holes

or am i totaly missing something?

spend the $ and get them done properly

get a sixer of beer and be nice to the shop tech and they may cut you a deal if you are remotely a nice guy.

don't mount them yourself. you are gonna fuck up your skis and bindings tif you do, thus the whole mess will be alot more expensive than just going to shop... as if it were expensive anyways...

man we got some assholes on here

i ask a simple question wondering how hard it is and you all hate

but i guess from all ur responses im gunna take them in so the thread actually worked out

experience?

common sense?

the ability to use a tape measure and then divide by 2?

take them to a shop, you'll be happier with the results

i was in your situation too.

i got a really good base of gorilla glue, but you need to mix it with vinager so that it solidfies real quick but wont lose all its stick in the cold and wet.

then use rubber cement on the edges just for reinforcement.

and to make sure you do it super good, cover it in duct tape except for the top of the bindings so you can read the dins, keep your dins around 3 or else youll just rip the bindings off wiht your feet if you fall hard.

then you can put some rubber bands around it, like the real fat kind that are usually yellow. those are the key for this to work.

good luck

Ask to shadow a ski tech in your local shop.

If they're sound guys they should let you, and show you exactly what to do for the future.

It's not an embarassing thing to ask, everyone has to learn at some point.

Just don't mash up your skis/bindings by doing it yourself, going to a ski shop saying "oh i need help, I tried myself but I didn't know what to do" WILL be embarassing.

Having a jig is the best way to do it. If you dont know how to even freehand them, DONT. You will most likely drill too deep or not deep enough and end up with holes in your base.

ok this worked so good on mine u attach a magnet to ur skis then a magnet to the bindings and the put them together and u are good to shred . and remember reaalllly strong magnets

Haha

go kill yourself.

Really. But have you ever seen a pair of skis before? Ever even held any in your hands? Cause that is pathetic.

^

dude i think it was a legit question

i was just wondering what it took

i mean how many ppl on hear can mount there own bindings

now you guys treat me like im a dumb ass

cause you are unless youve had practice or work at a shop i wouldnt attemept it your just gona fuck up you skis and make it worse for yourself

i havent tried it yet

im not that retarded

but yea im thinkin ill take them to a shop after all the shit ive got on here

I'd say about 10% of this site could mount their own bindings properly. Probably not even that.

If you don't have the necesary tools, equipment and knowledge to do it yourself then you will only learn the hard way - by fucking up a perfectly fine set of skis.

If anything you should get an old pair of beater skis and try mounting some bindings on them before you try on decent skis that you actually intend to use.

Well. To attach bindings on to your skis, procede to either 1.) return them or 2.) ship them to me. with bindings of course.

no one legitimately called u a dumbass...majority of people just goofed off by saying use rubber bands etc. There is a ton of people who joke on here b/c they would not know the exact procedure or would just send them to a shop like me. You simply got to accept that people are going to make jokes and not take ti so personal. as for your problem.... I would recommend against it for the most part. you got a lot of chances of messing up your skis and having nothing to fall back on. the nice thing if a ski shop messes up is they have to refund you on skis or fix it, etc.

Also what the guy said earlier about shadowing on that kind of work...its a real good idea. I have done it a couple times watching my skis get an overhaul, and once before to see them get mounted. after seeing them get mounted though I would never do it myself. There are way to many factors that could ruin them and if you do...then your shit out of luck and there goes all the money you spent b/c u were trying to save 30 bucks. Some of these questions you have asked though...you are a complete noob to the ski industry it seems, and I would wait till you understand the factors of what goes into mounting before attempting anything.

GL though. hopefully someone can give u info on doing it youself that does not include rubber bands, gorilla glue, etc. lol.

Hanging around and watching your gear get worked on is really annoying. Bring beer if you plan on even asking.

this is what u do

mix the sealent on envelopes with a little bit of cooter splooge and add some dr pepper then pour it on the bottom of ur bindings and the top of ur skis and WHAMMY u got mounted skis but the best part is no drill holes so u can sell them on ns and say theyre new i do it all the time

Hey bro. Mounting skis is not hard, I am a bike mechanic, so I do have experience with WAY more delicate and precise stuff, Record Brifters, I am not going to be an ass and tell you your going to fuck up your skis. In fact, I will be the first helpful person in this thread and direct you to this website. With pictures and detailed instructions on how to mount your bindings.

dude ya if ur askin questions about it u defs shouldnt be doin it urslef. I wouldn't for sure, and I know nothing about mounting but i mean 30$ to get your bingings mounted, +some kind of warranty and something to fall back on is a killer deal. There's so many things that could go wrong that you may not notice it when you mount them, but when you go to ski, you could seriously hurt yourself and now who r u going to blame?

Its not worth it to jip $ on stuff like that, I made the mistake of jipping on bindings and now i could get brand new scratches and shit with all the repairs I've done. just take em to a shop and get em done by a pro. You'll defs regret it if u dont and something happens. dont take the chance man

srry for the bad speling btw

holy shit dude.....most the ppl on here are completely lying and if you listen to them, you will fuck up ur new skis.....i dont recommend mounting ur bindings urself, but ill try to show you how anyway.

1) Get a drill ( A drill press works best because it drills straight down, which is hard to do with a hand drill)
2) Get a drill bit that is a little smaller than your binding screws (you DO actually screw in the screws...the glue is just used to hold them in place so they dont loosen up and to seal the holes so water doesnt get into your core)
3) Put tape or mark the bit some other way so you dont drill too far into the ski (do this by holding the drill bit next to the ski, with the tip of the drill bit above the top of the edge) place the tape where the drill bit is level with the top of the ski (i recommend marking the drill bit 1/4 inch from the tip of it....Sry that this is so confusing....im having trouble trying to explain....
4) since ur doing this to invaders, i recommend center mounting them.....take your ski boot, and place it on the top of your ski, so the small mark on the underside of the center of your boot is lined up with the small mark(with invaders it is a silver line) that says center on your ski....when these two lines are "touching", i like to take a marker and draw a line at the toe, and heel of the boot on the ski, so you know where your boot is going to be.
5) now take your bindings, and with the boot still lined up with the center mark of your ski, put the bindings on the ski, so they are pretty much holding the boot in place(like they should be when mounted)....to make everything easier, take the brakes off of your bindings.
6) with the bindings in place, and the boot "clicked" into them, pretty much just eye everything up to make sure there is an even amount of space between the side wall and bindings on each side of them....from there, i take i needle or something sharp, and with the screws removed from the bindings, put the needle in each screw hole and push it hard into the top of the ski to mark where you will drill.
7) remove the bindings and boot from the ski, and you should be able to see the small holes you made with the needle.....take a permanent marker, and make the small holes more visible by just making dots over the holes with the marker
8) now drill into the holes
9) when the holes are drilled, put the bindings on the ski and screw them in.....the screws should be semi difficult to screw in because the holes you drilled should be smaller than the screws, but the screws should be able to be screwed in.....screw the bindings in, but dont tighten them.....once the screws are semi way screwed into the skis, unscrew the bindings and set them aside. You did this step just to ensure that the screw holes are where they are supposed to be, and that the bindings can be screwed in properly.
10) Put glue in all of the screw holes, and screw the bindings in until the screws are tight. Be careful because if you drilled the holes too deep, screwing the screws in until they are tight will mess up the bases of your skis.
11) Do the above steps to the second ski

Im sorry that this guide sucks, but im too lazy to make pictures, and its really hard to explain
DISCLAMER: This is a guide made to help you not fuck your skis up.....if you follow this guide but still mess up and ruin your skis, its not my fault. My real advise is to take the skis to a shop, pay 25 bux or however much it costs, and have them mounted by a professional who will use a mounting jig, which is made especially for mounting bindings.

thats such a good idea why is everyone else so retarded this is the first logical response that will actually work.
