CWT asked me to reply to his arguments, so I thought I would.
I understand that she is not the first athlete to have this happen to her, but her fame is coming in a different way that most athletes. Kournikova was a tennis pro before she became a sex symbol. This girl is now national known because of her body, not because she is an amazing athlete. Her fame is from guys in forums talking about how they want to fuck her instead of some medicore tennis on the PRO circuit followed by guys in forums talking about how they want to fuck her. I would also say that this girl doesn't want to be known as the girl on the internet who pole vaults and is super hot, rather a respected athlete in her sport known for being the best. And being the best has nothing to do with how fuckable you are (in sports anyway).
Regarding her current play of the situation, I would say she has already gone and taken route A. She has made some press interviews, as seen with the MSNBC article, basically saying that she is still a normal girl, trying to graduate high school and wanting to go on the collegic athletics. I don't know how much of a market there is for pole vaulters with companies like Nike (I am assuming not a ton, relative to other athletes), but I doubt it is the option she will take. If she is as good as it seems like she is, she will make a name for herself thru her sport, not her body. Sadly, for her (not all the dudes, including me, who think she is hot), they will always remember, with her possible fame thru sports, that she was that hot girl everyone on the internet wanted to fuck.
