Homemade wake skis...

the width would just make them stable, i think having them a bit longer would help with hitting the wake so you have more forward and backward balance/support.

If people come up with a good design it could deffinately work just like twin tip snow skis did. I've been thinking how this would be something that would really work but i'm to lazy to build the skis or do all the work it would take to get it going.

hahah i made the same thing cept really shitty. actually mines sick but yours are just unbeleivable, looks professional. my only critique is the bindings. i don't think wakeboard bindings give you enough lateral ankle support. just my thoughts, nice job tho

hot dam i wish those graphics were on snow skis and id ski those if ya put some bindings on id be crazzy just orbit down the whole mt.

thats wut they said about snowboarding!

props dude those are fucking rad! id love to try them those are fucking gnar have fun!

u cant spin if there fins on them, they catch in the water. i've been on turnabouts before and trust me its a bad idea

Have you used them yet?

They don't look like they will be able to hold an edge very well. The bottom is completely smooth. I ride my wakeboard without fins, but the bottom has some ridges molded in.

I am making another pair, and want to change a few things up. I am planning on lenghtening them, maybe from 130cm to around 145cm, and also raising the tips and tails as well as making the rocker more evident. Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions? Let me know.

i would definatley put some fins on them, not to big cuz that would hamper the buttering movement, but just big enough to keep them stable, how are you not slipping all over the wtaer???

damn they look so legit. ive been doing 3's on a slalom ski. im trying to make these for sure

i tried a 3 on some regular skis once. set the spin to early and my ski got caught on the wake, man did i eat shit haha.

those skis look sooooo sick. maybe try making them a little longer if you make another pair, and the tips come up more. graphics are amazing though bro nice work.

If you want to get more pop off of the wake add more rocker.

If you want them to ski faster, they need to be longer.

It looks like the edges are completely parallel under foot. I have never seen any kind of water ski or wakeboard like that. I know it would probably be harder to build, but I would try and and have a gradual decrease in width as you move from center to tip and tail. Also the trend in wakeboards is that they are staying pretty wide in the tips and tails. My bro just got a knew board that doesn't lose much width in the tip and tail. He says that it is easier to pull off sketchy landings.

How is it riding them switch?

Post some pictures of you riding them.

Alright, I have taken alot of things into consideration, and have decided a few changes on the second pair I will be creating.

I will be increasing the rise in the tips/tails, as well as the rocker to about twice the amount in the original skis.

And as for the overall shape, I will be lengthening them from 130cm to 142cm and rounding the outside shape, tips, and tails.

Any final thoughts, suggestions, comments?

From riding them a limited number of times, I believe they do need to be lengthened and height added to the tips/tails. The tips were prone to dipping and catching the water, and I just think more width/length will help stability and overall control.

I'll be sure to post pics and vid of my using them shortly.

make the tips like a upside down U so you still get that swallow tail effect but you actually have a tip/tail thats not a V

i have those same bindings for my wakeboard...

possibly make it so the waists of the skies are concave instead of convex... like the hyperlite Roam boards... they are shaped simalar to a snowboard and use the shape to turn instead of fins... ill look for a link soon

bindings are the biggest issue. you want them to be solid so they stay with your feet and don't get left behind, but also need them to be comfortable and semi releasable. WHEN not if but WHEN you fall, you could deffinatly tear knees lickady split

im going to assume you know what a trick ski is. to add some realllly nice directional stability to your ski. my ski had three (1 1/4") cuts about 2-3 mm deep running the length of your ski. ihave it on my trick ski and its like 20 times more stable, might as well be a slalom ski, but you can still side slide and all the fun trick stuff easy

wana see vid, check this out.

www.nationswakeski.com

i guess these guys are the only ones doing it, but it says in one part they wana be

'sustainable' and gear towards cable parks - wierd.

still, potential. i couldnt be worse at this than i am at wakeboarding.

Wow those are sweet, fins will definitely add stability, but would be hard to spin. I would suggest inner rails like a wakeskate, you know like the center of the ski is more concave than the edges? ^--^ like this but it is upside down, cant wait to see a vid looks fun, rails to switch would be cool, or a big floaty 180 over the wake, nice work too, they look professionally made

yeah if he puts fins on he should put shallow fins so that he can still slide them around easy. i did that to my wakeboard and it makes it so much fun because you can slide on the wake and slide out if you dont land perfect

Suggestion: Scrap this gay stuff, and buy a wakeboard or wakeskate. I'm sorry to be so harsh, but this sport is going nowhere. The first pair you made actually look great, really professional - it'd be nice if you used your talents on something useful though.
