Hey does any one know when holiday valley is going to open? i hope its this weekend but they dont have anything on there website about it.

Yeah, they don't update their website anymore. The forums are the best bet for up to date information.

I wouldn't count it out man. The ponds around here are still iced over, and despite it raining, it hasn't affected pond-ice cover because the temperatures are still relatively cold.

A cold night or 2 is all it will take to be back on track.

Annnnnnnnndddd from the looks of it, they didn't even make any snow last nite. It seems like there is no push to get open early this year.

They won't be open this weekend unless it dumps bigtime there with the lake effect storm tomorrow.

Snowmaking to resume on Thursday. Opening date could as early as Sunday Dec. 2, depending on what comes through late this week, so stay tuned.

chance of a big general storm coming in on Sunday and Monday. I'm ready to ski this weekend but not holding my breath. They have the capacity of making a lot of snow quickly and it sure is cold out. The ground is frozen here.

Possibly. Either way, I'm not horribly upset. Wednesday I'll go ski for $4. I took the day off work. Should be fun with the potential for a powder day with very heavy lake effect setting up Monday.

And then KB next weekend so i won't have to piss away a lot of money for skiing before KB opens. I'm not paying full price for Bristol and certainly not near full price for crappy little Peek'n'Peak. Place is smaller than KB, less vertical, much further in distance, and more expensive.

Hahahahahahha. I went to the peak.....it wasn't to bad for opening day. They were making snow like crazy. Some sketchy spots like the snowmaking piles that seem to make you catch and flip.....and there were some icy spots. It was so fun though.

well, things are looking much better now, some good lake effect action today. I was at the peak saturday too, only stayed for about 3 hours. good to be back on snow, It was a good time.

ill be there towards the night tomorrow anyone know whats gonna be open tomorrow in terms of which 5-7 runs?

Tons of fun today. Spent most of the afternoon skiing solo, but racked up TONS of laps on the Yodeler chair, and spent a good deal of time poaching Chute. Some good powder there.

Invaders suck in powder though.

yea well done HV...was anyone else wondering why there were only 7 runs open when the whole mountain could have been open?

Number of reasons. Coverage being one of them. Once you groom out that foot of lake snow, it'd be very very thin.

They also may not have enough employees on board to open that much terrain right up front.

true but they were makin snow like crazy on everypart of the mountain and that packs pretty good...but they got alot more this weekend...anyone know the features on fox fire and on the rail park are ????

There aren't any features on Firefox (that I saw). The rail park had a tiny rail, a small box, a pipe jib on a spine, the new c-box, the wallride on it's side which can be used as a jump, and the new huge butter box.

Eh, for me KB is open with a pretty nice setup so far, and it's very close to home, so I end up there.

Holiday is solid, and much better for all-around skiing, but that drive sucks when I can ski a decent setup 10 minutes from home.

solid foot and half, and theyve been making alot, and if you chech the forecast were going to get pounded tomorow and this weekend

so with cold temps and the amount of snow they are getting do you think we will see some sort of legit park setup in december?

im taking a family trip on january 1st, and im just wondering if you locals know if there will be a jump setup by then? if not the rail park still looks so sick.

this weekend is looking awesome with new snow, demo day, rail jam, new features in the rail park, movie premieres saturday night and rumors of some sort of jib session in a restaurant after the movies.

New rail park stuff includes the wall ride and battleship rail. Its an eventful early season this year.

doubt it... the snow is coming in steadily but they will probably try to finish getting the remaining rails up, and build the pipe before the jumps... maybe a few small ones tho

I am going to be riding Holiday Valley for the first time on Thursday and Friday, I looked on the website but couldnt find any information about the park setup, can some please tell me what rails/boxes they have set up and if there are any jumps. Thanks!
