I will take blame for the FIS rumour. At the time, what I had heard through non-High North related channels was that a lawyer involved with FIS had pointed out what had happened with the insurance situation. Shane had no part in not owning up to that situation, that was entirely my fault. I apologize to all of you guys for that, but at the time it was the only thing that I had heard.
Shane feels terrible about the situation, and for next year he is taking steps that ensure everything is dialed in WAY in advance. High North will not die, it is just going through growing pains.
You see people want no rules in our sport. The rules were created for a reason, and that reason is that uncertified inverts have already been proven extremely dangerous.
The problems with insurance are just a part of keeping the organized FIS straightjacket off of our sport. We want to not have to hit waterramps to flip on snow, and like it or not, this is what we go through.
The fact that Shane can even pull off this camp is amazing, and I have the utmost respect for him. High North is the only Newschool skiing only camp in the world. It really started the revolution and gave us our sport.
There have been problems, and I wish every day that those people at session 4 wouldn't have had to go through that.
However, the fact that Shane puts his neck on the line every day at that camp to keep our sport true to the movement is something that I'll bet nobody on this site would have the guts or means to do.
I for one support him, and will continue to do. He is offering what he financially can to the people that lost out. It may not seem fair, but there are so many costs for the camp, that there's not much room in the overhead.
And if you feel you have been treated unjustly, talk to Shane before you bash him behind his back on an internet site and thereby risk the future of our sport.
I'm over it.
