HEY CANADA

didnt actually think anyone still read page 11 posts but kudos to all fellow Canadians who know this astounding fact.

i disagree. i thought everything was really well organized, although the opening ceremonies thing was a buzzkill and they should have used Zambonis instead of Olympias. All the facilities were really great and I think every athlete got the true Olympic experience

VANOC couldn't help the fact that it was 10 degrees at Cypress

it's not that astounding, i think most people know

also its not actually our only national sport

" On May 12, 1994, in Bill C-212, ice hockey joined lacrosse as official sports of Canada."

ice hockey is our "winter" sport

lacrosse is our "summer" sport

You're such a prick! So the guy has some national pride, that's wha the olympics are supposed to be all about, not shitty online bickering

Yes, VANOC organized an athlete death and planned on rain. Pull your head out of your ass, VANOC pulled it together and got snow to Cypress when it really needed it. On top of that it's an El Nino year, but you probably have no idea what that means anyways.

the medal count is a competition that ISN"T actually a competition, just a thing made up by the media. and we have the most athletes, we SHOULD have the most medals

this is just ridiculous. its the fucking olympics which, like someone said, we had little part in the success of our country (little = support). but fuck, who gives a shit about medal count, be proud of your athletes for making it to the olympics because it sure as hell aint easy

Sort of. Warm Pacific Ocean currents come up from the Californian coast every 6 years. 3 El Nino's ago we got record amounts of snow at my local hill, Baker, which is within a few hours drive even had to close for a week just to dig out chairlifts that season. But the last 2 have led to my local hill getting rained on all season long and closing early.

Yea i've heard stories like that from others.

I don't mean to disrespect Canada, and yes i understand the weather had nothing to do with VANCO. I combined two seperate factors of the olympics poorly, and a apologize to anyone that got all hot and bothered about it.

404 combined total, gold, silver and bronze in the winter olympics.. i was talking about only golds buddy..

did you read the source?

hahaha i did fail a bit, i read the far right column instead of the first two..

canadas only won 65 golds in the winter olypmics, and USA has won 87...

sorry for the fail everyone, my bad

definitely lookin like a good time no doubt!

Im not too disappointed that canada won, because thats all Canada seems to care about so good for yall. I know besides the olympics barely anyone gives a shit about hockey. Congrats.

Summer Olympics =/= Winter Olympics. They have completely different sports and are in general completely. One consisting of summer sports, one of winter. Are you Americans that sore losers that you have to bring in a different seasoned Olympics to try to make yourselves look better?

Wait, what? Did I heard you right? CANADA fuckin won the olympics? Oooh yeah, that sounds right.

douche.

EVERYONE:

CANADA WON THE OLYMPICS,,, WE WON THEM

-hockey gold

-most gold

-record for most gold

WE WIN

/THREAD

Well done Canada. It was a great game. Both teams played well and Canada came out on top. A well deserved and fought for gold.

Now everyone needs to shut the fuck up, Americans included. Jesus titty fucking Christ. The true level of maturity on NS is revealed. It's insufferable.

I still cant even believe that game. I am so pumped!

I am drunk as fuck and ive never been so happy to be canadian!!

congrats to all the country and making the best of a somewhat disorganized olympics haha

the closing ceremonies were embarrassing but whatever

I love hockey and i hope the olympics help gain more hockey fans in the states

I LOVE YOU SID!!!!!

Question about poutine. The cheese curds, why type of cheese is it and would I be able to find them at a grocery store here in the states?

Thinking about it yes. I can get some french fries from the cafeteria and probably find some gravy at the grocery store that I can buy and heat up but I need the cheese curds.

NO you couldnt unfortunately. Because Canadian cheese curds (quebec in particular) are made with good milk because here in canada we have laws against hormones and such in milk production meaning we get good milk, in US they pump the cows full of hormones and roids and such and because of that (at least here) it cannot even be called milk, just 'milk products'.

bottom line, the amazing cheese curds we have are from small town local dairy farmers in quebec and such who produce amazing milk then places like st. albert (if you're from ottawa you know the cheese im talking about, sooo good) make some damned tasty product. it's also helped by our quota system that we still have this luxury, it's unfortunate american dairy farmers are shit on and forced to have industrial operations and use hormones and such to augment production to make it worthwhile

I don't care I am in that craving mode and don't much feeling like driving 2 hours to get into Canada (BC) just to get poutine.

I live in BC, its not easy to find man... Cheese curds are out in east canada mostly. It's not something you can get at the grocery store. And if you do find some, chances are it will be nothing like the original. Lucky I brought back a 5 kilo bag with me from Quebec this winter... Mmmm poutine... for you americans (who just lost btw) 5 kilos is like 12 pounds of it.
For those of you comparing medal count, don't. There is no comparison, yeah you have more, but how many people live in Canada compared to the US? I'd say we do really well based on our puny population. There are more people in Bangledash or Honk Kong than Canada yet we pulled out with 14 fucking golds. Hell Yeah

doesnt matter who won, great game. couldnt have asked for more to close out the olympics. the favored team won, and the team of US young guns, who were picked to be the 6th or 7th best team before the games made it to the gold medal round. i think Sochi will be USA hockey's time to shine with the team maturing. its also great that the host country won it's favorite event. so good all around.

tho i would like to add, that it would be interesting to see how this would have played out if it was played on a regulation IHF sized rink instead of NHL ice, as the bigger size you think would favor the american's team speed.

Ya but if you had won you would be rubbin it in our faces but that didn't happen did it. GO CANADA!EH
