Help me kill my deployment boredom.

Honestly, now is a terrible time to join the military. I'm literally counting the minutes at this point until I get out. 71099 minutes from this post.
 
College isn't really my thing right now haha.... Why is it a bad time to join? My friend is leaving for boot camp in a week.
 
Deployments are drying up. Military is cutting people left and right. Women are trying to force their way into the infantry. Sexual harassment and tolerance briefs are more important than range time.
 
Every other fucking week I am sitting in a sharps class or suicide awareness or prevention class. Now we gotta start prepping for women...that's fine but shit is gonna get weird for a bit.
 
But I also love the army. It's easy. All you got to do is be in the right place at the right time I. The right uniform. Also be in shape. Seriously easy.
 
It really is. And deployments are fun depending on your mos. But just joining now dont count on any deployments unless its to korea or kuwait. Youll be a forever slick sleeve until the next war pops off.
 
You forgot to FCK your TIT's dude. How the hell is anyone gonna RDE your PNS if you are so FUBAR that you can't even see 10 FTP's in front of your ODB??????!!!!!!

FYI, you and your army buddy sound really cool using all those fancy abbreviations.

... But for real. My understanding is that Boredom kills YOU in Afghanistan. Lose focus and bad things happen. Hope you can figure something out and stay safe. The internet may be slow, but you should still be able to work some online crosswords and/or Sudoku.
 
Its not really boredom its complacency. Espiecally with my job. One day you go out thinking oh just cleared this route yesterday cant be an IED here then next thing you know you get blown up.
 
I once too deployed and made that tax free Arab money. Check out the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast while you are working out or when you're bored..

 
The money is so good. Definately droppin at least a thousand on a new ski set up then praying that I can PCS to carson or even drum so I can at least use my new set up. Trying to decide if its worth the gamble. At least Ill get a good month of skiing in while im on leave.
 
For sure man, I bought so much shit and made the best of my time in the the desert. The JRE podcast can kill ample time..
 
I retract this statement due to the mental suffering that could cause. However, I disagree with this &100,000,000 war and the reason I point out the paycheck because that truly is a benefit to how shitty it is being over there. The fact that Americans are killing humans in a foreign land is so mind boggling. In reality Sapper, you see any American progress out there? Or just billions of dollars being pumped into the Middle East just for it to return right back to 1905 when we leave

I dont really like to talk about firefights. Yes Ive been in them Ive been in IED strikes too. Its all part of RCP. But it changes you. I dont like to talk about it.

We've made progress but as soon as we leave the insurgents will take the country back to taliban control. The people here dont know any better. Its truly fucked.

So my deployment boredom mixed with the large amount of money I made just convinced me to buy a new ski set up... Got a pair of Surface Double times, Griffons, Nordica Dead money boots, armada mittens and poles, crowbars, an orage xavier pro jacket, and of course some smartwools. All under 800. Now I just need to get home to ski.
 
Quality posts in this bad boy. Was pretty stoked to go to Drum and be able to hit up the north east on weekends and what not. Anyone in here ever actually posted there?
 
Im guessing your going to 10th MTN the BCT that they have deployed right now is full of shitbags and POGs. One of the infantry units with them almost got our entire RCP killed while dismounted. My old squad leader was from Drum and he liked it. Your lucky your close to somewhere to ski.
 
The only things I ever hear anyone say about that place is prepare your anus for the cold and the amount of large promiscuous women roaming the surrounding area.

Probably on par with how shitty Bragg is.
 
Im in a Sapper company and a 12B but I dont have a tab. Not eligible to go to Sapper leader course yet gotta be an E4(P) to go. But as soon as I am eligible Ill be droppin packets to get into it until they get fed up and take me.
 
LOLZ! That may or may not be one of my buddies platoons because they are there right now. Actually two of them are but the other is working in an S shop S'in D.

Regardless of the BS I still think 10mtn is a sweet ass unit but i've heard the same thing shit about certain parts. I'm actually no longer going to 1 BCT like I was so problem solved, problem staying solved. Totally throwing up Carson first with Drum second for the third time in a row. We'll see.

Cirillo- I have heard of and then saw these roving beasts in real life. None of those stories are a joke.
