While I will agree with you that 189 is probably wayyy too big in this situation, I actually totally disagree with you on your sizing opinions. Ski size is an often complicated subject and should be based not only on one's height and weight, but also on their ability, as well as personal preference. For example, I am 5' 7" 145 lbs and I rock 179 AK Enemies for the pow and 176 AR6s in the park. I'm a) good enough of a skier to handle and control skis of these lengths and b) personally prefer longer skis and would thus suggest going a little longer to anyone debating on the subject. Longer skis provide you generally with more speed, more stability, and also allow for easier grabbing in both the park and the pow. If you're coming into a 60-foot kicker, for example, you NEED both speed and stability to make it off that lip and land in control.
