i have no other way to explain why Orage Masters is such a fucking Joke right now.

It used to be the event where motherfuckers threw down. Like thovex and vanular. Now its a fucking joke.

It could be an awesome contest between ski companies to see who actually has the most badass riders. I guess the companies couldn't handle the pressure of that. who knows
 
he's talking about how know it's like a am comp with out many big time pros at the same time i think it could be very benificial for the upcoming am's and could be like the next step after the us open
 
yeah but how awesome would it be if the ski companies actually duked it out for real instead of "fake" duking it out by sending their amateurs.
 
How does having one girl make it worse? You aren't makins sense, you could say the companies should send over their top guys but o well....it will still be dope.
 
they should have a mens section and then a womans section

It would mean nothing to win the olympic 4 x 100 meter relay if one of your team members had to be a woman, same thing with a ski contest
 
i disagree, skiing is subjectively judged, so it wouldn't change anything so long as each team actually sent their best skiers (men and women).
 
its less competitive if you have to include a woman in your team. It sort of kills the competitive atmosphere.
 
I'm pretty sure less "real" pros are going because it's earlier in the year than it used to be.  There's lots of other things going on still.
 
How do girls kill the competitive atmosphere?  And I wouldn't really call Sammy C, Jacob Wester, etc. ams. I think there aren't as many "big names" as there used to be just because Tanner, Candide, and that whole generation of pros is pretty much over competitions. They are all off on film trips or something.

having to include one girl isn't making it a joke, the fact that riders are out filming and so companies decide to send AMs is what makes it what it is. and I stll don't think it's a joke.
 
Men dominate the comp circuit as it is, the least they can do is to try and even things up a bit and give girls that rip a chance to be seen, a chance to rep their sponsors and to get some sort of equality happening!!
 
what im trying to say is that i used to get really really exited about who was going to win the orage masters, now i cant get exited about it. And if you do get exited about it then your just fooling yourself cause if the best skiers arent their then its not a REAL competition between companies,,,,, its just a joke

orage masters, JOSS are sweet events. they are not traditional competitions. if you get all excited about teams facing off against one another, baseball season just started.

Why not include girls. Companies have girls on their teams so why not include them in a competition that battles it out for the best team. Have you seen Shidasha or Kristie ride they slay just as hard as some guys.
 
Well, since girls are part of the pro teams... and it's a competition between the pro teams... the ladies should probably included, don't ya think? And I'm still not sure I follow why you think including ladies makes it less competitive...

girls fucking suck at skiing, cant stand watching them. and why the fuck is surface in this year? what about atomic or head or some company that actually has good riders?
 
The title doesnt quite match up with what Yauch is saying here. The title says this, but in the thread he complains that the ams part is what ruined the competititon. Which one is it or was it both that Yauch didnt like?

I didnt get to watch the competition. I am in no way agreeing with the title of this. However, I guess my question is if the general consensus in this thread is that it should be a mix because pro teams are mixed, and girls can perform just as well as the guys, then why the need to create a rule to force each team ton include 1 girl?

While I am all for equality, its rules like this in life that promote the exact opposite of their good intent. Equality is not forcing a team make up based on race or gender. Equality means everyone (no matter race or gender) has the same oportunity (by being judge of their skills on the same scale) for those spots on a team with no regard to gender. What if(theoretically) the top 5 skiers are all male...Is it fair or "equal" to that 5th skier who loses his spot because a team had have a female skier? Have you ever seen a rule that says "Every team must have at least 1 male skier?" no because there

Don't get me wrong I love watching chicks doing sports I love. However, if were talking about equality, why not just allow each company send their best 5 skiers? If this is 5 girls so be it. If its 5 boys so be it, and if its a mix great! But why do you have to "force" teams do include a "girl"...If you were one of these girls on these teams, would you feel like you were there because of your skill or because the team "had to have a girl" on it? Not saying that the girl didnt deserve to be there...But, if there was no rule in place and a girl or two or 5 were on the team then they know they were there because of their skills and not to meet some stupid rule.

Just some food for thought...
 
I thought everyone liked comps with a more laid back atmosphere and 'jam' format instead of super competitive comps?

It's awesome that girls and guys can compete together, the Orage Masters is really unique that way, it's more like a regular day of skiing where you're just skiing with friends.

It's really cool that we can have this kind of competition in skiing, unlike bigger team sports like soccer or hockey where the women's leages get barely any recognition and no money.

Skiing with guys might push the women to do bigger and better tricks than they would in a women's only division (Think US Open).
 
Here's the thing about that: the ams compete a lot and slay park. This is a park contest. So, they send one "name" who focuses on park shoots and the ams, who kill it. Companies need to get their riders some exposure and the Masters is a good place for that.
 
I can honestly say I don't think I have read one genuinely intelligent post he's made throughout the entirety of his short-lived Newschoolers career.
 
this event is the perfect venue for the women to step up to the plate and give the public a chance to see what they got. i've been hearing about a ton of ladies throwing down all season but i haven't been able to see any of them ride. now they can take the stage right along side the men and show everyone what what they can do.

alot of the big pros are injured atm ie. Tj ,Candide ect. just casue they send other guys doenst mean shit.. and none of the skiers on any of the teams are ams there B and A level Pros
