i just dont understand how having girls in the comp would make it suck, if anything it would up the testosterone levels and make all the guys push it.
 
well the orage masters is considered an ANTI-COMP so there really shount be to much of a comp atmosphere anyways and why hate on the girls the masters is just another chance to up the level of girls skiing

People that ruining skiing/boarding are the people who crave competition and want to win everything so bad that they go up after they lose and take a run to try to steal the winners thunder, aka shawn white. Comps should be about having fun, I know when I enter comps, I'm not in it to win it, im there to have a good time and try to throw down some sick stuff. I don't care if I lose, its great if I win but winning isn't what skiing is about, this isn't baseball, or football. I do this for fun, not to hate on everyone who doesn't throw a switch double flip. It's good to see a few girls in a comp, take the vans cup for snowboarding. The rail jam they had had a few girl riders that were ok, and one that was legitamitely throwing down. I thought she was a guy for a minute haha. I would be the first to say that girls need to really step it up. Props for hitting that jump but thats not hard at all. They should be throwing down at least at a somewhat close level to the men. But its still a good thing to integrate the very top of them into a mens comp just so they get some exposure. I'm not sure about the girl skiing scene but I know of a few snowboard chicks that can actually throw down. Don't hate on this because its not the super pros everyone knows, a ton of people can throw down and deserve a chance to be in these comps. Its all about the fun, don't go out rooting for someone to win and when they lose pitch a fit, its skiing, its a lifestyle not some superbowl event.
 
This thread doesn't make any sense. If you think the compagnies only sent ams, who would you have sent considering the injuries? You think they're sending less known skiers for fun? Candide would be pretty hard to send their since he broke his back last year....TJ is injured...Dumont at the big QP.... Mike Clarke killed his hand.....and the rest of the pros you're talking about are just done competing and now are filming powder and other stuff. You'll see that what you call AMS are just going to kill it. It's not because they weren't in "The Game" or "Happy Dayz" that they won't kill it.....

but really..... i usually enjoy watching guys but it doesn't mean there aren't girls out there who kill it. Its usually refreshing to see some new faces and just seems to fit the masters vibe. Or years past at least

Personally, I was stoked after choosing my team Dynastar for that contest. I didn't even know who was on the team at the time but Mike Riddle, Sarah Burke, and Justin Dorey are a safe bet!

first off, i think its a good thing that they require at least one girl on each team... say what you want about treating girls equally but lets face it girls skiing is waaaaaay below guys skiing, in fact i'm thinking of getting a sex change just so i can go pro. not to put down womens skiing at all but there is definitely a gender gap in skiing. so if you had a team of 4 guys and a team of 2 guys and 2 girls the 4 guy team would probably win every time because guys are throwing down far crazier tricks than girls. in fact, this is helping to promote womens skiing and showing that girls are progressing and starting to close that gap.

secondly, i do have to agree that teams don't seem to be using their top pros in the orage masters anymore. i mean its the "MASTERS" i expect to see all the top pros there namely, jon, simon, tanner, candide, tj, and basicly the "masters" of the sport. its hailed as the anti-comp so its really nothing more than a fun session with team members. personally i think there should be at least one event like this where ski companies use their top pros to shred and see whose got the best team. but reguardless of whose actually on the teams its still a really fun event, although i think the features were better when it was at mammoth.

But in all seriousness, how is having a chick on your team so bad...All i've been able to make out from your posts is that you're a sexist bastard who can't see things in a real world light. Take a moment to think about this. If you were an amateur spanced by a big name ski company...wouldn't it be awesome to get some exposure in a popular competition...get your name out and stuff. And look at the whole purpose of the event. It's meant to be an "ANTI-comp" it's not supposed to have a super competitive atmosphere where all the riders are super stressed. If you want a more competitive atmosphere maybe they should lose the bitchin costumes too..I mean that seems to be really killing the nervousness in the air. So waht i'm getting at here is...fuck off and learn to accept women for something besides a cook and clean tool.

and the tricks were way more progressive than candides 630 or vanulars 630 pretzel

sorry guys but orage used to be "not just another dick around have fun contest" and now it is whatever im not saying its bad but it used to be a whole lot better
 
like seriously i dont want to agree with that guy from freeskier who hated on the orage masters because he thought it was some sort of ego festival, but seriously they should have set up some giant rail gaps or something really cool, i dont care if they wear costumes, its even better

but skiing wise nowadays its just another "jam session", used to be really special, the costumes havent made up for it
