Hand Drawn Skiing Sequences Thread

Ok, well I'm back from Europe and I had many long and boring plane rides. Good news is, I have a lot of new art to post. I've got a lot of comments to read through, as this thread actually was pretty active when I was away, so let me post these first, then I'll get to what everyone else has done (Wohoo all of you who contribute!). Alright, so let me start:

Switch Cork 5 Truckdriver

I tried a different angle, and the landing turned out shitty. I'm going to try another one of these "Heli perspectives" later sometime, so I didnt even bother finishing it.

Flat 9 Mute to Japan

As Schiller does.

Rodeo to 270 off

Yeah, I was thinking a High School Football field or something. Turned out ok and is of course, completely rediculous. But hey, thats what your imagination is for.

Right side D-spin 7

Never seen one of these done before, so I tried drawing one just to see if they still look cool unnatural. Yep, they do.

Switch Flat 5 Nose

Possibly the sickest slow and steezy trick next to the misty 5 nose/truck.

Noseslide to Tailslide

Yeah, I went a bit off on the Anon thing, I know. Tried to make it look like an ad in Freeskier or something. I think this trick is probably possible to do, albiet it would take someone with a lot of urban experience and perfect balance... Sammy, Simon, Tanner?

Misty 5 Handplant

Well, the ad in Freeskier's equipment issue did inspire, sure. Still, I like this one a lot, and yes, if it is going to be Jon in an add, JL needs to be represented too. I'm pissed I couldnt find any JL stuff over in London and Paris.

Alright, now off to comment and to see what you've all been up to!

Ok, those should work, weird. Anyways, they are pretty good for a start, kinda reminds me of what mine used to look like. Keep it up, practice makes more perfect.

Dude, thats amazing. I have so much respect for paintings, those things are massively difficult. Really good art, looks great.

Haha, definently claim that. Nice sketch, the mountians in the back are awesome, I really should start shading mine.

haha, yeah, thanks for the comments. your new ones are absolutely ridiculous as usual. props, and keep it up i always like checking back with this thread. i still need a lot of work making the movement look natural, on mine it seems like an awkward rotation

That's freaking awesome, amazing art right there. Reminds me of the Freeskier equipment guide cover, but I dunno...

Yeah... that is the cover. I just freehanded it. I'm almost done, havent found the time to finish it. Here's so far... got the legs....

Haha, I actually got corrected on the front-flip thingy, its actually already been done, search the NS vid section for the "McBish". And as for the urban = P, choose who you want, I dont usually draw things with one specific person in mind.

Bump. If anyone wants any of these, check the "Free gear thread" in Ski Equipment. I'll take trades (whatever you offer) or just donate a few bucks to NS.

another sketch i did today in about 15 minutes. just a little booter 360 nose grab. i saw windstedt throw one off a cliff in x and thought it looked badass so i just tried to capture that grab.

Your proportions are kinda off.

Normally, the skiers head should fit about 7-8 times int he actual body size. My heads are exaggeratedly big usually, but keep that in mind when you draw.

The neck... well, im not one to talk because i don't draw them usually, but the neck should be about 2/3rds to 3/4s of the size of the head, when looking straight on.

When it comes to the body, you should aim slender, and then add baggy to it afterwards.

Hands, well, you can focus on 4 fingers if you're no good at them (like me), it looks better (see simpsons, family guy...)

Overall, have a general idea of where you want it to go, and then be patient.

another little one i did in class. took some inspiration from peps cliff drop in ski porn. 360 critical as ryno stated, but i was goin for nose grab although it didnt really turn out that way haha.

haha, yeah, i dont know what i was thinking with the no grab thing. haha, oh well my newer ones are getting better though its still really hard to draw the rotation.

siiiiicckkk i never really cared that i couldnt draw before. maybe ill take an art class now. haha sick drawings guys

Oh man, I've been soooooo busy with classes this quarter, I only have a bunch of half finished ones. I gotta sit down and finish a few of them this weekend. Nice sequence, the detail in the terrain is great. Keep it up!
