Gus Kenworthy moves to Atomic. WHAT???

surely atomic pays him more. pretty sure their skis might be better also. armada is more of a style based team anyway. whereas atomic has the technical riders. definitely a better fit in my mind.

Ya i guess, I feel like Armada had a much better selection of a variety of park skis for him in his different disciplines.

A good skier is going to be good on pretty much any skis you give him so its not about the skis, its about the money.

Armada skis are made by atomic, so its probably not an issue of skis since they ride almost the exact same. he fits in better with atomic anyways

I've seen this posted multiple times, but where are you getting this? They both have tech and style based riders. Just because Armada has Casabon and Hornbeck doesn't mean they're only about style. They have Torin, one of the best pipe riders in the world, and Jacob, who competes a decent amount. While I consider both of these riders still very stylish, they're very tech, too.

And atomic has Frej Jonsson(?) and that level 1 super unknown rider.

I thought they were only made in the same factory. Not made by atomic...

And did anyone notice the Armada pole grips in that picture... :)

How? I honestly want to know why people think this. What changed between Atomic and Armada?

Personally I pay more attention to Armada since they heavily invest in freeskiing, whereas Atomic I only know of Punx and the Bentchetler and some boots. I'm saying this because they don't really bring the idea of a heavy hitter company like everyone is saying. Yes, they have good riders but as a company aren't the most relevant like Armada, Line, etc.

Amer Sports makes Armada's skis. Armada has their own engineers, graphic designers, ski molds, raw materials, purchase orders, etc. The physical production is in the hands of the same employees, but everything else is separate. Granted the quality of the production (which is stellar) is the same between both brands.

id be so stoked on atomic over armada....they prob pay him better to start. Granted they offer less selection of freeskis but the skis they make are pretty awsome. Atomic has been on top of the game for yeras in the racing scene and make amazing prodcuts

The other big factor is the fact that atomic has a race department. Most freeskiers ignore this but, for example Mike Riddle rides punx, but they are not the punx you or I could buy. They are made by the race department.

This is actually the case for many big established teams, salomon, head ect, but becuase they use the same graphics most people just think they are riding the same skis which are in the shops.

Armada is limited by what they can produce so yeah makes sense that athletes who are chasing olympic gold would switch to the bigger established brands.

Atomic has no less than 20 ski's that would be considered "freeski's". Unless you have a narrow/incorrect view of what a "freeski" is. Atomic also offers boots, and bindings.

They are on top of the game with their Freeski team to with atheletes like Sage,Tim Durtchsi, Bentchetler, Richard Permin, Daron Rahlves, etc.

Not to mention what looks to be a tight relationship with TGR.

Aren't there only like a handful of major ski production factories in the world? K2, Salomon, Atomic, Rossi, and ??? that make a vast majority of the product?

The most important part is fershure fitting his style to the rest of the team and company. If he didn't fit he'd get dropped...like tanner

how about instead of being condescending...you tell us what we are missing when it comes to ski sponsors
