Dam haha not gonna lie some of these comments are pretty fucking funny but also kind of pathetic. No need to rip on him anymore, he's learned a lesson, and its getting a bit out of hand. Some of those are so unnecessary on his end. At some point he as to realize people are going to hate, espeically young kids that don't yet understand shit but I'm bummed to see him react so negatively with some of the comments. "look up my you tube channel, its the one with millons of views" When did skiers have so much to prove to people outside of skiing?
 
I respect gus. The dude is an insane skier. Cool he is gay so what. He fucked up on the photoshop and admitted to it. He doesnt seem arrogant to me and its cool that he flammed the fucker that called him out for being gay.

Hate on him for photoshop all you want. Bashing him for being gay is different and really fucked up. Gus isn't my favorite by any means, but god damn how do you expect people to take something like that lightly? A "normal" person shouldn't have to put up with that and neither should he.

If I were Gus, I would be fed up at this point (I think he's learned his lesson), but at the same time, it's uncalled for to reply to the trolls on his page, especially since most of them are middle school retards.

Obviously you're a good skier, but I doubt you had a quarter of the following that you did before the Olympics and before coming out. You have no reason to respond to these kids so harshly. Two wrongs don't make a right, especially when you're an Olympian and the other wrongdoer is a prepubescent boob.

Stop acting like a little kid comparing dick lengths in the gym locker room. You should be so far past that right now and I'm shocked that there's a reason for this thread to exist.

i mean yea it would suck having kids write hateful comments like that on social media, but to drop to their level and lash back, especially seeing as these are basically kids who are chirping him, is unbelievable. No matter who you are, when you become famous people are going to hate, and it says a lot about someones maturity (or lack thereof) if they don't have the ability to just shake off stupid, ignorant comments from people (or in this case, little kids.)

Sure, Gus is a great skier, but I have zero respect for him. From him photoshopping that stupid insta post (which he definitely wouldn't have apologized for if no one had called him out on it) to now this. Like seriously dude, grow the fuck up, no one gives a shit about your sexuality, and if people are going to make stupid comments about the subject then just fucking ignore them. The fact he is lashing back at these commenters makes him just as much of an ignorant prick as the original posters, plain and simple.

I wouldn't be surprised if nike or atomic have something to say to him about their endorsement deals after seeing his immaturity on these posts.

Getting that much shit would be hard to take no matter what. I doubt I would be able to handle that type of judgement all the time from random people just expressing their hate without saying something back. He didn't handle it perfectly but some of those roasts were primo.
 
Comments like gay and other homophobic shit gets to people. You can say Gus needs to be the bigger man all you want, and for the most part he's shown great resilience not feeding the trolls. But there comes a time where a person just can't take anymore.You see this with kids who get bullied, just snap one day and rekt. Just because Gus is pro doesn't change anything. As well, you can have all the positive comments in the world, but it's the negative ones that get to you.

Y'all call him out hard for gaining a following in the gay community and say he should post more ski content, then as soon as he posts skiing all you see in the comments section is kids being dicks to him for being gay. its not trolling, its being a jerk. You wouldn't say that shit to his face and not expect a response, so don't be surprised when you get a comment back on the internet too.

Agree, commenting back and making fun of the kids who were making fun of me probably wasn't the most professional, or the coolest thing to do. However if I hadn't said anything it's not like there would have been a thread that said "Mad respect for Gus Kenworthy for not responding to trolls?" No. Nobody cares. I ignore the bullshit negative comments 98% of the time, I delete them, sometimes I block the kids and it's fine, it happens, I get it. But sometimes it's just super uncalled for and it gets tiring. If someone talked shit to you on one of your profiles you would comment back. Yeah, I may have a lot more followers since the Olympics and coming out but this is still my personal account and I see all the comments, for better and for worse. I posted a photo of a friend standing in the mountains. It had nothing to do with my sexuality, it wasn't rude, it wasn't arrogant or disrespectful or anything else that would warrant flack. I should've blocked the kid and moved on but I felt like responding. When I was 15, all I wanted to do was be a pro skier. I had TJ and my favorite pros as my top friends on MySpace, I know that's lame, I repeatedly watched their video parts and contest runs. I had cut outs and posters all over my room. I drew pictures of ski jumps and companies' logos. I was a fan. I was excited. There was no Instagram or really much of anything to help connect me to them like there is now but if there was I wouldn't have ever dreamed of trying to talk trash to them. Idk but it kinda seems like he is now skiing/living for the fame. Great skier and all, no denying that, but when you look at how he runs his social media compared to other pros, it is obvious that some of soul of skiing has been lost with him imo

Def one way of doing things, but I dont think many of us agree with it...

I don't see any problem with Gus defending himself. I mean, it was pretty hysterical actually. He gets criticized more than any other skier for reasons I definitely don't understand.
