New 12 gauge, Winchester SXP Extreme Defender \m/

This was my first gun. Shooting clays with friends, I chamber a round and it goes into the dirt right in front of me. I thought I was retarded and had my finger on the trigger. Nope. The bitch would slam fire, straight up drop the hammer off the sear when a round was chambered.

Winchester couldn't give 2 shits. Wanted me to ship it to them from Ak. $180 dollar shipping on a $250 dollar gun. Fuck them. I destroyed it.

Hope yours is better, be safe.

Ooof that sucks. Thanks for the heads up.

Too bad about the shitty customer service, that says a lot about a company.

That sounds like a wrongful death lawsuit waiting to happen I’m surprised they weren’t like SEND THAT TO US IMMEDIATELY.

I believe mine had to be one of the first ones where it happened. There has since been a recall (unfortunately after I had mine destroyed) so you should be all gucci. In hindsight, I should have pressed them more but I was young and didn't know better.

Wow that’s absolutely fuct

Curious as to why you say this, Remington shotguns are my favorite.

The freedom group nerfed and shit on everything it acquired. Dpms/bushmaster is no more and Remington went bankrupt in 2018 and QC has been shit. Pretty much investors came, said do it cheaper, and tanked otherwise successful businesses.

Dont get me wrong I love what Remington once was. I have a 1970s Wingmaster that might as well be SAM missile site the way it nails clays and it sits next to my Grandpa's 16 Gauge Wingmaster from the 1950s. That being said, the once great company of Remington got gutted by Freedom Group and they have had numerous quality issues like their Rifles discharging, new 870 expresses having stuck shells, the 887 with its recall, jams and front sight that would just fall off. They are going into bankruptcy again and who knows who will buy them.

Here’s my recently finished $730 AR-15 budget build. Super happy with the way it turned out and costed less than most off the shelf rifles. Palmetto state lower, CBC upper, surplus ammo BCG, strike Industries charging handle, Feyachi reflex sight, MagPul furniture

Who here is hyped for fall hunting seasons? Had to move back to Southern Ontario, so my dreams of a nice Idaho elk are shitcanned, but hopefully I’ll be able to find some land for squirrels and a turkey.

So I've put a couple hundred shells through it and had zero issues. I read that they did a big recall back in 2017 or 18 for the SXPs.

The optic I put on it has a fat donut reticle that's perrrrfect for shotguns. Add the pistol grip and its the most fun blaster I've used in awhile! Got some funny comments at the trap range about it though.

Can't wait! Hunting early archery for elk next month in Eastern WA.

Unrelated to hunting, but thinking about buying one of these fuckers on my next big payday

Nice! What do you do for them?

Have you shot that gun? Any opinion on it?

I've been doing some design for them on some new projects, I haven't shot the 45-70 auto unfortunately but I will say they run a super tight ship and their manufacturing tolerances and quality control is pretty impressive compared to alot of other operations.

currently not a big gun guy, have always enjoyed shotguns and shooting clays in the desert but never actually owned one. i'm moving back to utah from southern california next week. have a couple gun-passionate friends. got a good raise and my rent is dropping a significant amount so I'm looking to pick up a new hobby. I think I'd like to build an ar15 as a project/recreation thing. what do I need to know? any other tips or recommendations?

You cant shoot bunny rabbits. Bunny rabbits are on the fucking level and always have been and its a cardinal sin to shoot one.

There are definitely guys here who can give you a better answer, but here's my anecdote; I built my first AR awhile back using a Palmetto State upper with stainless barrel, BRO pineapple flash hider, Anderson lower, DPMS parts kit, Magpul furnitures, and a Sightmark red dot sight. Super fun project and was pretty damn easy.

Total it cost me about 700 and after running nearly 1000 rounds through it, it's had zero malfunctions, with regular cleaning and loob. I make 1.5 to 3 inch groups at 50 yards depending on the ammo with my red dot, I'm sure a good scope and more skill would group tighter.

There are varying opinions on cheaper AR builds on reliability, but for a day-at-the-range-rifle, mine has performed flawlessly. Someone here can point you in the right direction for a high-quality AR build, there are a ton of options for AR builds depending how much you want to spend and what type of rifle you want to build.

That all said it's very hard to find regular AR ammo these days (.223 or 5.56) and who knows when that'll get sorted out. Lots of .22lr and 12 gauge that I've been buying up.

Today I learned that 3-inch high velocity birdshot shells kick like a fucking mule. Can't wait til slugs are back on shelves!

thanks so much for the honest and well thought out response. my budget is around $1500 so I don’t want to compromise quality for anything. send me a dm if you feel so inclined!

I put a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 and Talley rings on my T3 Lite (.300winmag), and it's been super versatile, at least for Alaska. Caribou, moose, Dall's sheep - it's been a great Alaska hunting setup overall.

My husband has the same rifle but with a Burris Eliminator III on it (which annoys me, for some reason).

We have a few 12g shotguns, a .30-06 that I killed my first moose with (and still love), a .240 or two, and a few .22LRs. I bought my daughter a Mini Bolt for her birthday (because Alaska). My next rifle will likely be something in 6.5 Creedmoor.

My sidearm for years has been a Glock 27, which I actually dislike quite a bit. I like .40 but would prefer a G23 (compact) versus my subcompact, as the shorter grip/barrel makes it harder to control the recoil, and I don't need a pistol this small. I've been considering purchasing a Kimber 1911 in .45, as the smoothest and most accurate I've ever shot a pistol was with that setup. We also have a .44 that we carry while fishing because of grizzlies.

Just bought another 1000 rounds of .223 for way too much..

Shooting is pretty much a dead hobby for me at this point.

Buy what you can now. Many companies are back ordered close to a year at this point.

and Rudolph provided meat for the winter. I went out scouting this weekend and woke up surrounded by elk, and I’ll hopefully take in in October.

people hunt, it’s natural.

Not fantacizing. I have high standards from having sex with a few girls that were extremely attractive. Its kind of like a “been there, done that” sort of thing. Not trying to put u down by having low standards. When i get drunk i will fuck anything that moves. In hs i hooked up with the ugliest girl in the entire class of our sister school, and i even tried to hook up with my friends mom when i was plastered at a party.

anyone know if the shortage of AR's (or just guns and ammo in general) in stock will slow down by November or will it get exponentially worse? I need to get a complete lower to finish an ar build so I need to decide if I should finish it while at college and deal with bs like getting storage, or if I should wait till I come home on early break.

It will likely get worse before it gets better. Definitely won't be better by November, and how bad it stays kinda depends on who is elected. Everything should balancr out though in a year or two pending no dumb shit happens

Its going to be worse for at least a few months if not a year. Supposedly ammo is backlogged 12 months and guns probably similar. When there are empty shelves and rioters running amok attacking people, Americans tend to gun up pretty quick.

Buy one asap. If you're not too picky, put some email alerts on palmetto state armory for something that will work. I've beeen seeing stuff restocked but every time it is, the price is going up. I've been seeing Aero restocking fairly regularly as well.

As far as ammo goes, $1/rd for .223 or 5.56 will be standard by September. Buy what you can now even if your build isn't finished.

Rabbits are the most original gangstas of the entire animal kingdom.
