I have been playing guitar for 4 years on a shit squire fat strat and want a new one. The dilemna is my ipod got stolen and I want to replace it with an ipod touch. I dont have enough money for both so which should I go for, new nice guitar or ipod touch?

dude, not even a choice there. get a mexican reissue strat. they got all the american parts but are made in mexico so they're cheaper. don't get the ipod just so you can listen ot music, get he guitar so you can make music.

ipod shuffle. plus i think most squires play pretty good( but ther's the ocassional shit one). maybe u need a new amp? some fx?

haha i already have a fiddle, an electric one. its actually pretty sick. the squire plays well except after playing friends fender telecasters Im looking into getting one of those. Im just sick of the squiere.

yea that shit works if ur good at playin. one summer i played guitar at our farmers market and made about 80 bucks a weekend. its cheap and doesn't cost u anything but time and maybe some humility...

ipod touches break

get a tele.

maybe look at a schecter too?

may seem like a metal guitar but schecters are sooo versatile.

better quality then a mexi fender too...

last generation of ipod nano, it does not have a harddrive. which make it possible to ski with it! ipod touch, can as said over here break

false.

you obviously have no guitar knowloedge what so ever

cause the truth is.

any guitar can sound good.

it's the fingers that play it

a korean made schecter will have better appointments and pickups than a mexi fender.

that is all I am pointing out.

get a guitar, also, I suggest looking into Gibson/epiphone for your next guitar, I had a semi-accoustic gibson ES-335 in cherry red, and it was the sickest thing

ipod touch=350?

decent epi=499?

if it wasn't for that small matter of $150 i would have dropped epiphone first......

if you try and get a used epiphone elitist, it will be about 500, you can get an Epiphone Dot (gibson es-335 copy) for about 300$, and if you're not a pro, you won't notice a difference

^theres one for 299

The epiphone Dot hollows are sweet.

I would say the best idea is to go to your local Guitar Center or other music store and play as many guitars in your price range as you can, new and used.

who knows what you will find.

no. not false. my best friend is jesus at guitar, he had a schecter and a nice ibanez, the schecter sounds worse than my shitty ibanez.

well you think there's suck things as "nice" ibenezs so you must be a shredder (and if you don't shred and you think ibenezs are nice then you don't know any thing about guitars) so if you think your freind is a Jesus at guitar and his schecter sounds like shit, well then he should stop playing rediculisly fast on it, because that's not what its meant for.

Haha how do you figure schecters are better quality than mexi fenders? Fender is such a reputable company, I'd doubt that, mexi fenders are made of quality materials. And both companies make completely different guitars, almost all fenders have single-coil pickups and schecter has humbuckers on most of their guitars; completely different sounds. For the thread creator, I would definitely go with the guitar, I'd get a mexi strat or tele, an american one if you can afford it. And look at gibson and prs they both have some absurdly priced guitars but they have some for under $1000, once again I don't really know your price range though.

truth.

scheters are really nice guitars. my guitar teacher who's won a Juno award in canada and has been teaching for 30 years has 2 and he loves playing them. he sounds amazing too. i hate how all these metal heads think all the original guitar companies are shit just because their guitars don't have the latest floyd rose or EMGs. you have to play what suits your style. of course a fender tele won't really suit you if you play death metal, but don't think its shit and reccomend some supped up ibanez for someone that wants to play some clean chilli peppers.

anyways, i recently picked up a Fender Lite Ash Telecaster for 400 dollars canadian on kijiji. its mint. its a Korean made tele (better than mexican) with lite ash body and Seymour Duncan pickups. its a nice crossover mexican to american tele and sounds beautiful. plus the thing looks amazing. perfect if your looking for that jimi hendrix, clapton, chilli peppers, pink floyd sound.

also, im assuming you bought the strat pack and have a 15w amp. if i were you i would buy an amp first, it'll be the most noticeable change in sound and it can make playing so much funner. check out peavey, vox, roland, and avoid marshall, line 6, and fender (fender only if you plan on playing the blues). if your looking for something like a line 6, get something from the vox advt series. theyre hybrid amps that are solid state, but they have a tube in the preamp. i just got one and i love the thing to death.

i wouldint avoid marshall they make great amps with good all around sound that is slightly on the heavy side, but you can still get a good clean sound on it.

get a used schecter classic, best affordable guitar you'll ever play. compare it to an sg or a mexi, hands down the classic wins.

ipod touch...

i have one and it truly is amazing... much more useful and fun than a guitar (not saying guitars arent fun) but seeing as how you already do have a guitar, just deal with the quality and get the ipod

definitely a guitar...listening to music is great, but the glorious sensation from creating it cannot be described by any language.

I played that guitar extensively yesterday and it sounded amazing. Definately an awesome guitar for somebody who wants to further their electric guitar-ing.

I just put a down-payment on an Epiphone limited edition Les Paul Standard. It has a dark cherry pinstripe body, so sexy. I played it a bunch in the shop with a Boss DD-7 delay pedal and was instantly hooked. I only need $85 before I can take it home!

Get a nice used guitar like a stratocaster or something, and use what money you have left to buy an iPod nano or something. Does it have to be a touch?
