Grouse

It looks like The Beast's Machine has come grinding to a halt aha. I wouldn't be so sour about it if they would tell the people how much snow they ACTUALLY had.
In other, sadder news, Seymour has closed due to inclement weather.

so has grouse and cypress, not surprising with this weather. Oh wait, grouse is on standby... all day. even after they have sent home all their employees.

Zav c'mon man? You just hated on Grouse for closing, when Seymour and Cypress have done the exact same thing. And their base is actually based on AVERAGE SNOW DEPTH, base changes from spot to spot on the mountain so much it wouldn't make much sense to give one solid number.

Dude, do you mean to tell me you've never ventured over to where The Beast measures its snow-depth from? It's surrounded by a selectively-opening plexiglass dome that when closed (ie: not cold enough to snow) has its own refrigeration system to prevent melting. The refrigerator is powered and sustained by the tears of the bears they hold captive. It's quite the thing!
They're going to have to look into a new power source soon though because as soon as that wind turbine is fired up the bears are going to go "bat-shit crazy and kill everyone".

screencap of grouses current snow depth. somehow i disagree with the meter and a half they claim of having

I was on the tram listening to a new employ get taught how to run it. I overheard the guy saying, if something is closed were not allowed to say closed, even know it is. We have to say standby for everything.

it's pretty suddenly to me..

nah, but it's definitely no surprise.

also 4000 posts for you, sir

haha as a junior patroller at Cypress we always "estimated" the snow depth.Give or take 10-20cm.
Sam you're racking up posts quite fast also, I see you everywhere now you post whore!

I saw it on the news, they've been doing it for a while so they have enough for the olympics

you would think since the olympics are coming, they would of built an indoor ski facility to counter these problems, but no !

i think they are just going to move the events to whistler because off of crystal chair they have the mogul runs with jumps all set up, and the halfpipe all ready.

i dont think they will have the resources to completely change and advertise the changes in less than a month, not to mention that will fuck over anyone who bought vancouver(cypress) venue tickets and lodging in vancouver

I have only skied pow on skinny symmetrical park skis for the last 3 seasons. Man up.

Oh and an update from grouse, here is the current park situation. 2 features for skiers, a down box and a butter box. Here's a vid by Jeremy. I am computer retarded so somebody embed please.

Why on earth would I want to "man up", as you say, and ski skinny, center-mounted, symmetrical skis, when I could ski awesome, fat, directional skis, that I just so happened to be blessed with by ON3P, that have actually taken my pow skiing game to another level?
That would be the equivalent of driving an R8 and then having someone say, "hey! pussy! stop driving that 528hp super car and start driving a geo metro!"
Post, then smoke crack.

Fiiine, I just haven't been lucky enough to ride fat skis yet, except for Bacons the glacier in the summer aha.
