Grouse has there Y2play pass today

your gonna be able to put money on your pass now. they look kinda like a creit card. and if you buy an adult pass it automaticaly comes with $25 on it. kinda cool. i just want my pass for this season back......

Think back over the past year before you decide if you want to support this place. I won't be.

You are one negative person J.D,

how often do you go skiing? do you enjoy skiing? do the people you ski with enjoy skiing with you?

you complain way too much.

^ STFU.

See, pretty much everyone knows who everyone is here, except you. And all you've done so far is troll in the regionals and stir the pot. That makes you the guy talking shit over the internet anonymously. So keep your opinions to yourself, you coward. They're worthless from behind that screen name.

hoooly so hating and getting into internet fights and hating on somthing whenever you get the chance is better than trolling namelessly?

for everyone else, take advantage of where you live and go skiing. doesnt matter wich mountian.

First of all, yeah because it has a name and a face attached, but secondly I will reserve my hating for private discussion and say only: pass where you want, just think about who you feel like supporting locally before doing so. No need to argue about it.

Everyone on the shore should pick one up. The scene up there is so banger right now. Everyone kills it. Sessions are goin off every day! The park is sick. Pow days are sick. Grouse is sick.

$370 for an adult for the rest of this season and all of next. $245 for youth...you really cannot beat that.

i got mine today, after skiiing grouse once. but im still commited more to my whistler seasons pass!

Get one, there was like 12 of us throwing down yesterday and it was sick. So much fun up there right meow

As much as I disagree with what Grouse has done this season, I have to agree that the price of these passes is really, really good.

The fact Grouse is a 5 minute walk in my gear to the base of the mountain definitely plays a factor in me contributing towards their business. I am still undecided if I will be picking up a pass for next year, but from what I've seen this year it's not looking like I will (Despite the awesome park).

Hey JD, so first of all my name is Scott Titterington, not sure if I have met you before, but I ski Grouse Whistler and occasionally Seymour. I would love to ride Seymour alot more then i do. The reason why i ski Grouse Mountain is because basicaly it is such a fun atmosphere. 90% of the skiiers and snowboarders i know go to Grouse and 100% of the time I have a blast. Yes i said blast...

I know there has been alot of controversy over the bannings, and well i sorta tried to stay away from it all since i never had everyones exact statements. Ive skied with haywood only a couple times and hes a rad dude. Im not trying to back Grouse Mountain up over this situation, but taking word from one side only, never turns out. Following into a situation with a pre mature opinion can be a pain in the ass as well. So im just going to leave it at that.

I didnt want this thread to start into another "I hate Grouse Mountain Thread" but alot of the people who run the mountain are super into the park scene and want to do as much as they can in their power to help it progress. Ive never met Seymours operation crew but the guys and girls in the Grouse Mountain office have really stepped their game up and im super impressed. Im sure a few others on this board who have met them can also agree with me.

Most years i buy a grouse and seymour pass(not including this year due to financial reasons) and rep both, but will admit, ski grouse alot more.

So what im getting at with this post is that there can be a whole other side of Grouse Mountain that alot of people who dont ride it ever get to see. We arent all tourists who spend 100 bucks in the gift shop, 200 in Altitudes, and andother 150 on day passes to go for a sleigh ride and skate on the ice rink. Instead we get together and slide some metal and tables complimentary of a rad park crew. Later on go for some poutine...

That is all. If you would like to rip one into me i wear a baggy beige jacket with black and white pants. Sometimes i carry around a camera

HA.

First of all, you did not answer my questions, and it looks like I got your panties in a knot. Just goes to show one does not need to match a face to a name to make a 'skier' like yourself jump up and defend yourself at the hint of an accusation. HAHA

........

GET OVER IT. GET OVER YOURSELF.

People ski/ride grouse for a reason. Why do you want to take that away from people who have not had the chance to ride there? I have passes to Grouse, Seymour and Whistler. All are great mountains, in their own ways. Do you not agree?

Just because you have a green name, it doesnt make you hot shit, you arent a part of the local scene beyond going to premiers.

Why do you even have twin tips? Switch pizzas are really cool by the way.

Take a stroll through the Grouse park, I guarantee you'll shit your pants and wouldnt hit a single jump in there.

Now go have fun skiing, if you are capable of that.

-pepsi.cola....bitch.

^Hey, I think that you need to relax.

JD has a valid reason for everything that he has said about grouse.

Yeah, for some people it might be more convenient to ride there, and for some people it is the only seasons pass that they can afford. Some people can only afford to shop at wal-mart, which is unfortunate, but don't hate on people who can afford to spend their dollars more intelligently.

Nobody wants to read e-hate. Keep it to a private message if you have a problem with someone. Or forget about it and just go skiing.

nice post scotty! i like how you just want the hate to stop, in my opinion there is too much hate towards grouse, if you don't like it, thats fine, just stop whining about it.

yeah, christmas day and the first big dump that they had before that where there were still roots and rocks exposed was a fun day. those are the only 2 deep pow days i've had though.

Hahahaha, It's cool, I definitely wasn't hating on people who ride there, I have plenty of friends who still do, I just don't feel the hill deserves our support or is likely to change. Hell I used to ride there for years, so did a lot of people and it's good there's still a crew who ride there. I wasn't even trying to make this into a hate thread on the mountain, just posting a reminder because people have really short memories, even the ones who have been really pissed off for a number of reasons in the past. It's not just the banning thing, that was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back for me, I had previously given up on y2play but that served as my own reminder for why I left there in the first place. I just wish we could have the whole shore scene in one place and have that place support said shore scene, but that's sort of unrealistic right now because everyone's split up. That's worse now that Brian isn't here so there's no lord of the park for people from BC to convene, and parkahontas is up in the air. And there hasn't been a BNB day in forever.

Dan don't worry about that pepsi dude he doesn't warrant an answer until he stops being a coward and comes out from behind that internet shield of anonymity.

Fuckin' internet drama is apparently unavoidable...

Yeah and it definitely seems to have people on edge, bad snow year almost everywhere it seems. Whistler is supposed to get 10-15 on wednesday and that almost seems like a godsend given how it's been nothing but trace, trace, 5cm, 2cm, rainfall...

Uh..... WOW why can't you all just ski. I use to hate grouse but when you think about it at least I'm skiing. And don't want to support grouse but some of us have to because we just can't all get up Seymour all time or can afford cypress so, all I have to say is take advantage of this great deal there offering and ski.

Grouse is admitedly a fun mountain to ride. The freeriding is great, if only you were allowed to ride it. Hell, we were getting hassled for just riding the Ridge, much less the hell storm for shredding Trasher Creek. What's the point, when you can't even ski the way you want to? Admitedly you city park monkeys may have something to keep busy with, but anyone who shreds pow and thirsts that unquenchable thirst has to ride with the knowledge that sooner or later, you are going to have your pass pulled. I know I am not going to change the way I ski to please some heretical administrator.

I did like shredding grouse. There is good freeride terrain, and I hear the park is decent. If I could continue to shred Grouse, I would do so until I got banned again. And I certainly would be because all the good freeride terrain is out of bounds.... no, actually, they mean permanently closed by that. I am disgusted with the way they have lied about us and demonized our actions, which most real skiers know were reasonable and generally acceptable. I don't blame anyone for buying a Y2Play, it's a decent price for decent shredding, it's only a shame that assholes operate the hill.
And the excuse to ignore the Trasher Creek episode in pass purchasing decisions is poor and superficial. There may be a scene kicking, but do you want your dollars to support a system where the administrators have shown themselves happy to LIE and DECEIVE in the national media to promote a safety message which doesn't even adhere to North Shore Rescue values/protocal and threatens the RIGHT to access backcountry and out of bounds terrain?
Would you feel happy buying a diamond knowing it had been mined by a starving child slave in Nigeria? Would that chicken burgen be as satisfying knowing it has been raised in a shoebox size cage surrounded by thousands of other disease ridden chickens who are fed through tubes?
I think you are ignoring the fact that the decisions you make with your purchasing power have repercussions in the way businesses and society operates. This is becoming and increasingly important issue in the information age with determining the behaviour of multinational corporations, so you better start paying attention lest there emerge market monopoly by unethical companies. Most people walk with their eyes closed to the gross injustice which society financially supports everyday. But I guess it's easier to ignore it right?

Spend your dollars conscientiously you chimps.

I feel this is not a fair comparision, those are two totally unrelated issues. If you want to ski out of bounds, do it at another resort, if you wanna ski a decent park, have a fun time and not break the bank, then buy a y2play. You seem to have a pre-determind notion of what the ski industry is, and that is like saying there is a definition of what the ski industry is, and the fact is, it's different to everyone so you cannot have a "definition". The general opinion I have been getting is that Grouse seems to be contributing negativly to the ski industry and "harming" it. I have yet to see a legit reason how Grouse Mountain is harming the "ski industry". I disagree with how the banning was handled and I feel bad for Haywood and company, but the fact is Grouse is Grouse and they have their own set of rules, like Whistler has theirs and Seymour theirs. Like I said above, the ski industry is different, you cannot put certain things in the same category. Its what you make it out to be. If you are a person looking to ski a fun park, and stay in bounds and save cash, ski grouse, it is probably the best bang for your buck. If you are interested in back country stuff and skiing out of bounds, you know how Grouse feels about that and its their mountain and their call, so thats too bad because you will have to pick a different mountain. That being said, for someone who wants to shred out of bounds legitimatly, then you probably might not like Grouse very much, but for people who ski inbounds, the mountain is great. So now you have 2 types of people who belong to the same community and yet their views are so different. So i now ask, how can you put these 2 people into the same category? I would recommend determining what kind of skiier you are and then look at the pass buying options and decide. Grouse can try their best to cater to everyone, but realistically someone will always be mad, in this case the people who wanna ride backcountry suffer.

Do you not realize what times these posts are being posted? Late at night for some of us, because we ACTUALLY GO SKIING EVERYDAY, unlike JD...we arent on NS complaining about skiing, we ARE skiing.

Maybe the almighty JD can answer one question from the worthless, die hard grouse, seymour, whistler skier pepsi,cola....

How often do you go skiing JD?

I go skiing every day, but all I'm saying is STFU please. I made this forum to tell people about the y2play pass not to bitch about who skis and how much they ski

no hate or anything to you its not about that but im just wondering who you are? i know everyone in this thread except you so im just curious cuase i ski grouse every day

JD is currently in law school and is preoccupied with more important things. What do you have to show for yourself?

comparison is completely legit. you may not want to ski pow but it is a HUGE part of the ski industry, bigger than park. comparison to fucked up chickens etc works perfectly cuz grouse is a bunch or money hungry fucks who dont give a fuck about skiing.
want to see a legit reason how grouse is "harming" the ski industry. take a look at the whole banning people fiasco that recently took place. i am assuming u didn't hear about it cuz your a fucking retard if you cant see how is trying to BAN backcountry/out of bounds skiing! also take a look at how they are lying about events on the news and trying to make backcountry skiing seem dangerous and worse than it is. not to mention make a few talented skiers look like dirty scumbags.
honestly chuck, pull ur head out of your ass. and grouse's dick out of your mouth.
if you wanna ski an amazing park for cheaper than grouse with an even better vibe check out seymour.
they dont charge much, dont make a ton of money, but fuck they make a good park, damn they have a chill attitude towards... everyone! Best park in BC! best backcountry in vancouver.
BEST PARK, BEST VIBE, BEST PRICE. FUCK YA SEYMOUR!

Gotta agree with both of you there, seymour is the shit. when I cant get up to whistler, which isnt often, its the only place to go.

I almost got banned from grouse once last season for a number of small incidents. Im not going to lie, when I ski, where I ski, how I dress, my choice of skis...I clearly fit a stereotype, but that doesnt give them the right to treat me like shit. Their approach on anyone but clearly marked tourists is deplorable and clearly unprofessional. Until I can be treated fairly at that place, (after all im a paying customer), I wont be returning. Just to add, the BC rules are wack period...

I'm the kid in the wild lime green pants and Helly Hanson jacket with line blends. I know it's crappy but I'm buying a new set up next year because I got a job.

nahh brah i dont know of JDs skiing habits im talkin bout pepsi.

i cant ski for the next while cuase im paying the price for skiing every day by having to catch up and pass all my courses. in liek 2 weeks lets do city

cool man, if you ever see any peeps screamin bout D44 or wearin tall tees im probs one of em so come say hi.

No not in it looks crappy, well it does, but that it's just not that dry I need to get 20 mm water proofing and lighter and better boots with no shin bang.

I totally understand how pow is a huge part of the industry, i agree with you there. No, the comparision is not legit, please think! you simply cannot compare child slavery to the state of the ski industry, if you are trying to, you're reaching. It was an attempt to take a serious issue and compare it to something not even close as serious. By linking diamond mine slavery to Grouse makes people think that what Grouse does is terrible, when in reality whatever Grouse does, does not even compare to diamond mine slavery and trying to compare it to that is not only reaching but insulting to both issues (diamond slavery and grouse sucking) To your comment about me not hearing about the whole banning thing, I have been on the couch since October nursing my back, TV gets old fast, and obvs I heard about it!! I talked to Graham a ton about it! So i don't even know what you're thinking. Once again I will state: I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST SEYMOUR, AND I DON'T THINK GROUSE IS PERFECT, BUT AT LEAST PEOPLE ARE SKIING SOMEWHERE! I think everyone on this forum knows Grouse is not powerful enough to ban backcountry skiing, lets get serious here, there not comparable to GOD. The whole thing about the news, i'm not even gonna go into that, cause is a whole different beast. Same with the comment that follows that. I still feel Seymour has a sick park and its great for the shore scene, but Whis has been and always will be better, read the magazines and weep, they don't lie.

On another note check out www.youthoftoday.ca

oh shit! guys grouse has these cheap pass things called y2play! I think they're even out right now for purchasing!
