For modern presidents its Teddy or FDR, for old ones its a toss up. But not lincoln though, the only reason he abolished slavelry was to piss off the south and cripple their economy. Also everyone think's that civil war was because of the slaves. In truth it was about power over the country and the north being more prosperous than the south. Kind of like us with Iraq, everyone thinks it was because of WMDs, when really it is just one of the factors(oil, political control...)

In AP US the other day we had a 30 minute conversation about how Eli Whitney was the biggest cause of the Civil War. His Cotton Gin made the South more agricultural. And interchangeable parts made the north more industrial.

So apparently learning about the evolution of the human race and how we got to where we are today is not important at all. See in Anthropology, you do a shit ton of writing, alot of reading, alot of discussions. Everything has to be backed up with physical evidence and experiments. Its a real world degree that has alot of options to it.
 
I don't think that any of my teachers have ever said that Lincoln was a terrible president.
 
I am in Econ with a minor in classics. It is by far less applied than say electical engineering, but has way more real world applications than anthro. All of antro is a joke, you are too dumb to take actual science classes, so they had to make up their own major to make science understandable. The only reason any anthro experiment or study is acclaimed is because they are peer reviewed, but your peers in anthro are retarded, so it is easy to slip by. No, it is not a real world degree that has a lot of options. When you apply for an actual job, not some shit one like research or higher learning, they will see your anthro degree and laugh (internally, not to your face) since they know you have no real world applications. You can write an opinion paper backed up with poorly designed studies, sounds useful.

I like studying Anthropology and I went on a field school where I got to dig up some old Indian Artifacts and I actually found an arrowhead sitting on the ground, I was soooo stoked. Something that is like 200+ years old and i was the first person to find it sitting right on top of the ground. We also found an arrow point that is possibly like 1000+ years old, pretty cool stuff. I dont know about you, but I enjoy trying to paint a picture of the past. It helps me grasp things that are happening today. So researching is a shit job? hahahha. wow you are an idiot. Researching is how we figure out things.

I took many different science courses from Biology, Geology, Geography, Paleobiology, Ecology because an Anth major requires you take a well rounded study course at the college I went to and I loved all of them. How the fuck is Anth not a science? Wow you are seriously a dumbass. Maybe the Anth professors at your college are all dumbasses, I dont know, but at the college I went to, they were some of the best professors at the school in my opinion.

So what are you going to do with your major? Sit in an office and try to determine how much money people will spend during a certain period of time? Wow sounds interesting man. If you really think your BAchelors degree in Economics is going to take you really far places in life than you are mistaken. You will need a graduate degree in something too. Same with me, I dont have a graduate degree yet, but plan on getting one someday. By the way, you havent even graduated from college yet so you have no idea what its like in the real world.
 
By the way, I work for an Environmental Consulting company right now. I have my own office too, so suck it, bitch. I make plenty of money to spend on bills with plenty extra on the side.

And when it comes down to it, its not what major you have, but who your connections are. Its not like whenever they hear someone has a Econ degree that they are jumping at the gun to hire them when they have no idea who the person even is. I have a job right now, so apparently I am useful to this company with my degree. You do not have a job. When you get your degree and you have a solid job then you have room to talk.
 
i gotta go with fdr first because he saved the world. the way he ran the country was on such a higher level than it is being run now. regan was good because a)he helped our economy alot and b)he didnt make governemtn grow. i think the best presidents make the governemtn smaller
 
Why WOULDN'T they? Would you rather have tons of people storm these citys and kill them? The Japanese should have taken our threat to heart and surrendered. I think a common misconception of the war with Japan is that we dropped 2 bombs and that was it. I watched 'The Fog of War' with Robert McNamara and he was talking about how him and his team firebombed tokyo and killed appx. 100,000 people overnight, and that in fact almost all if not all major citys in japan were bombed to the point of inrecognization.
 
i just wrote a paper on this and there was definatelly no warning even about the existence of the bomb. plus, japan was preparing to surrender, but not unconditionally. the united states wanted to try every single japanese official on war crimes including the emporer, who was entire foundation of japan. nothing could work wihout him. after the war we purposely didnt try him because we knew that without him japan would be sent back to the stone age

Truman made no progress with Stalin at Potsdam. However, he was able to warn Japan that unless it surrendered, it faced complete devastation. When the Japanese ignored the ultimatum, Truman ordered the atomic bomb dropped on Japan. The target, the city of Hiroshima, was struck on August 6. Despite the horrible destruction, Japan did not surrender until a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, on August 9.

yes but the united states was presented with, but ignored the posiibility of a demonstration. it would have been easy for the US to tell japan to evacuate heroshima by some date and then drop the bomb, but they wanted to make a statement about the destruction of the bomb to russia, which is true it not a conspiracy. there are trascripts of meeting where they talk about this
 
there was no warning about atomic weapons, only "raining destruction that the world has never before seen". there was no mention of Fat boy or Little Man. although it saved millions of American troops, millions of Japanese CIVILIANS were killed. it is the job of the army to be willing to die for their country. but instead, they sat on their asses while tons of civillians lost their lives. Japan is lucky for the weather, or else another bomb which was slated for Tokyo would have been dropped and would have fucked up that entire country, not just Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
 
You're a moron, We have already decimated Toyko with firebombs by this point so of course they knew what we would unleash would be bad. What do you mean by 'slated', I'm pretty sure they aimed for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, either way it's called war and alot of people died in that one.

I hope you guys know that the atomic bombs weren't the reason Japan surrendered. It was the invasion of Manchuria that really made them surrender. They knew what the Russians would do.
 
Japan would probably be a very backward place today if the Russians had invaded and occupied it. They wanted to surrender to the Americans, just as many Nazis fled west during the end of the war in Europe so that they could escape the Soviets and surrender to the Americans.

Best president?

hmmm, I like Teddy Roosevelt, he restored honor to the presidency after the administrations of the "forgotten presidents" of the gilded age in the late 1800s. Plus he got shot giving a speech for the bull moose party and still got up and finished his speech before going to the hospital.

ohh man..... sooo wrong. The atomic bomb did not kill anywhere close to one million Japanese, it killed closer to 250,000. Tokyo had already been practically burned to the ground, there was no reason to drop an a-bomb on them. And the invasion of Japan would have killed countless more civilians then the bomb did.
 
umm yea i know it pretty well....our economy was in the shitter, you cant even say it wasnt, he singlehandedly brought our economy back to where it should be no other president did that like Reagan did
