Greatest Band Ever??

i like The Who, but in terms of most cash/sold out concerts i'd say maybe The Beatles or The Rolling Stones

i dunno what the best are because that's certainly up for debate, but by far my faves are RATM, led zepplin, the beatles, pink floyd, nirvana, the offspring, and RHCP.... but that's just off the top of my head.
 
If I consider the greatest band to be the most unique, I'd have to say Pink Floyd, because their originality and style is simply unmatched. I really love Led Zep, the Dead etc too, but they were not as innovative as Pink Floyd.
 
no one can say what the greatest band of all time is fool. its just like saying which is better: chocolate or vanilla? what is one to someone will be the other to another.
 
Led Zeppelin, id say Pink Floyd but Roger Waters aint got shit on Jimmy Page, and Nick mason isnt even in the same ball park as Henry Bonham.
 
Led Zeppelin, Sublime, RHCP, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles (Don't really like them, but can't beat them for influence)... These are definitely not my favorite bands, although several of them are pretty close, but there really just aren't too many modern bands that compare musically.

CKY and HIM are probably two of the WORST bands ever. HIM is a total disgrace to the scandinavian metal scene; I have no idea how they got a record deal when COB, Opeth, and Arch Enemy are all from the same area and could make better music on a kazoo.

As for the question posed....I think The Beatles certainly revolutionized the entire music scene and we can thank them for any sort of rock/metal/etc that has followed. Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd furthered what they had done and set the grounds for the huge variety of music we see today; not so much on the shit-dominated radio, but you know what I mean.
 
Led Zeppelin, RHCP, RATM, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and the ones with the most instrumental skillz are, in my opinion, Dream Theater.
 
opeth is indeed better. led zep is the greatest band as far as being the most well rounded and talented band goes. the beatles revolutionized the music industry. but as far as PURE FUCKING TALENT goes... hands down Dream Theater wins. they are all the best musicians/writers/vocalists..etc. it doesnt matter if you like their music, they are the best

ALso, Led Zeppelin plagiarized over 20 of their songs from other sources. My proof is in the GAY BANDS thread in media forum.

Pink Floyd, JIMI HENDRIX!!!!, and Taste, and Rory Gallagher are great bands.

Probably Led Zeppelin...although you have to give some love to the Stones, the Beatles, U2, The Who, and Pink Floyd.

Best American band I would choose between The Grateful Dead, the Allman Bros, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

meh... Epica is tthe greatest band of all time check them out they are like classical/opera/death metal its super cool
