Got Ticketed at Breckenridge

So I was in breck and my buddy let me borrow his brothers season pass because he didn't need it for the rest of the season. I ski Friday and until lunch on Saturday when a lifty stops me. This guy was a total prick (not only Cuz he busted me but he treated us like shit), he asks me my name and I told him the name on my pass, and he follows up by asking my birthday, after giving him the correct birthday he let's me ride the lift.

After lunch I go to ride the lift and there was a warning on a different liftys scanner. I tell her my birthday my address my zipcode and answer a bunch of questions all correctly and she won't let me ride the lift. I tell her that I left my ID in the car and asked if I could leave to get it and sort everything out later. She days that we are not allowed to leave and that we needed to wait for breckenridge security. After waiting 20 minutes security finally shows up. I then decide to tell the truth and he was cool about it and honestly didn't think we should be in trouble as long as I went and bought a pass. He says that his boss is making him. I go inside and wait another 30 minutes for a police officer to come and write me a ticket.

When the police officer arrives he says to security that it is his choice to let me go or not. When he says to let me go the officer changes his mind and writes me a ticket. It will cost me a few hundred dollars and I guess I deserve it but I still thinks its bullshit.

Bottom line the lifty at breck with long hair and sunscreen all over his nose is a total asshole and don't use other peoples season passes.

I mean you really can't be pissed. You tried beating the system, you knew the risks, and were caught. Accept it and move on.

Now you have to pay more than the lift tickets would have costed, and you lost valuable skiing time while being questioned by security/cops.

Why did he stop you in the first place? I would imagine if you were using someone else's pass you would be wearing a face mask

I was... Also I understand that I was in the wrong and I already said I deserved it....but I just think that getting a ticket is crazy and the lifty didn't have to be a dick about it

I thought that was the scanning departments job? I'm a lifty at keystone and we dont deal with scanning at all, complete separate departments.

Also dis lifty dont give a fuck

She made you wait around tell security got there? Couldn't you have just walked away and left? Or were you on a lift that you couldn't do that?

Haha yeah exactly dude, you were obviously being a dickhead at somepoint and probably did something stupid.

So you used someone else's pass, got caught, tried to lie about it, and now you are mad at the staff? Sounds reasonable...

yeah, i mean im not mad that you did it (FUCK VAIL CORP) but you really can't be all that pissed you got busted. I would have left after you got away with it the first time or rode lifts where they don't scan your pass. But it happens, and id be content. My brother's friend got caught with his, and the sheriff ended up finding weed and a flask so he got arrested and a fat ticket, and my brother got his pass revoked for the last month of last season. Lesson: ski back bowls if you're borrowing a pass, or live with the consequences

I don't think this guy deserves all the shit he is getting here. Yeah it's his own fault and all but really it isn't like he did anything that bad. Breck tickets cost like $100.00 bucks a day, who the hell wants that to pay that. Its just unfortunate that this kid got singled out and had a bitchy lifty. And this kid isn't even bitching about it that bad, in fact he even says its his own fault, so lay off of the kid.

i speak for myself, but im not pissed at the kid or really even giving him shit. Breck rips the fuck off everyday skiers, so i feel like its fine if they get them back now and then. But i dont feel bad for hime for getting caught either.

yeah Keystone's way more chill, a few weekends ago i saw this guy go up to a lifty and he goes "you know what man..." and the lifty's just like "shhhh don't tell anyone" and he let him get past without anything

how did they snipe that you don't look like the pass under a fucking helmet, goggles, and face mask?

That sucks because I forgot my pass in the car last week and skied an entire day at keystone without any form of a lift ticket on me /claim.

there are a couple scanners at Breck who are just total dicks, I dont know why but they just always seem to be the angriest people ever.

U should of been like okay well I am not waiting for security to escort me out of here... I have answered all your questions correctly, and you really have no right to detain me. Then you just get on the gondola and leave.

Once you get in a lie, you gotta follow through with it till the end. Only fess up once you are caught and in police custody, till then your whole lie is to avoid getting to that stage.

You have a court date I've had 2 friends caught for doing that. They get out of prison next year in February.

Exactly this. Why fess up? Just get out of there asap and this whole thing would have been avoided

you should have just given the liftie weed... then you could shred for free... I do it all the time in ski resorts all over the world...

Why did the chick still not believe you after answering all the questions right?? Think if it actually was your friend they questioning. They must of seen guilt somewhere to pry into it.

Sucks dude. Lesson learned though I guess. Also, people are dicks.

I never actually understood why borrowing passes is such a big deal. Obviously, they cant make it legal, but i mean someone paid for the pass. He is replacing the other guy who rightfully paid for it. it really isnt that big of a deal.

This, I see people all the time with face masks on and shit never get pulled aside. OP's not giving the full story. You probs stood out like a pedophile on a playground.

It probably has to due with the fact that when you buy it, you pretty much sign a contract to not sue the mountain in any situation. So since he didn't buy it, he didn't sign the contract.
