GoPro HD - A must have for every skier

its an attachment that they are gonna release soon.
and ya i got the regualar gopro which is sick as is...fuckkk i want the HD so bad haha

This would be cool to see.

I used to want the Contour too. There's a couple threads in Gear talk about POV cams.

And I really like the idea of the removable LSD screen. Less bulk when you are wearing it. Then you click it on when you make it to your ride to clamebake and check out your footy.

that looks so sick

i want one really badly

now the better quality is major reason to get it

go pros are sick

Dropped in my mailbox a week ago and I would really recommend this product. Well worth the prize tag it have.

hey does anyone recomend this cam not as a helmet cam but as an everyday cam for filming? like for follow cam ect? i'm thinking of getting it just for filming not neccesarily helmet cams.... is there an attachment they sell thats a handle so you can hold it if your hand with ease?

is there no digital screen on this cam that allows you to see what you're filming? how did you get such good shots without knowing waht the boarders were on the image your cam was captureing?

use it as my everyday cam all the time. I've rigged it to attach to the end of a ski pole for follow cams and getting closer shots. The field of view is so wide that if you point it in the right direction, you'll get the shots.

Why doesn't somebody work a neutral density filter into one of these? That was really cool though, I've wanted one of these for surfing and skiing since I knew about them.

seems like you guys had like 5 cameras going at all times in your test edit...im sure there was alot of missed shots/ bad shots due to not knowing what the camera was capturing... you just had so many diffent shots you had enough lucky ones.... I dono when your friend bombs a 40 footer and you miss the shot prepare to get shit on, I dont think this camera is for me... however quite the deal I must say... I wish there was even just a little screen and maybe a zoom

actually i can honestly say there wasn't a single missed shot. I've used these cameras enough to know where and when to point. That entire video was from like 4 bigger jump hits and then 6 laps on the t-bar up at Windells. We had 3 cameras going for the jump lines, and then 2 cameras going for the laps - one on the helmet and one on my ski pole following. Maybe it isn't for you, but I rarely have shots where I miss the trick.. maybe i'm just that good? ;)

as stated earlier, there's an optional removable screen that is soon to come out.

don't know about you, but with my cannon ELF I never look at the screen when I point and shoot and I get tons of good shots. hardly ever miss. and that's with a much smaller field of view.

as for zoom. it lacks this. I don't think that any of these affordable POV's has that.

maybe you are just that good.. no but for sure, once you get used to useing it you will always know where to point but for the first while... sketch.. I hate missing shots

Dude, you literally would have to be facing the wrong direction to miss the shot while just holding it in your hand.

Man that's a good deal for a camera that can do more than helmet shots. And to think I was considering a JVC... *spits*

this is making me want to replace my contourhd with the gopro, i bought the contour before the go pro came out

i like the low profile and mount angle better on the contour though...i much prefer the goggle/side mount as opposed to the top of helmet one

but that quality was sick

it's inevitable that we'll get a shot on a jump where someone magically appears in the landing at the last second.

the GO PRO is waterPROOF while the contour is water resistant.

GO PRO has a wide variety of aftermarket accessories including chest strap mount, surfboard mount, wireless microphone, lcd screen, etc...

it's not yet released but it's going to be (around newyear i think...)there's also gonna be an expansion battery pack you can mount on the rear...

does anybody know what these things are that they are holding that the camera is attached to? looks kinda like a ski pole. the shots are so sturdy though:

Its possible to mount it on the side of your helmet, though with the weight balance it gets a bit uncomfortable.

Ive been looking at picking up a helmet cam for a while now, this seems like the perfect one. It would be nice to see what the quality is like on a non bluebird day as someone else stated above. And that edit was sick.

The things to attach it to your own helmet and shit what are they like, do you have to screw them into your helmet and stuff?

Also is it pretty easy to just tape it onto stuff and not have to worry cos of the bombproofness.

I want a camera to record stuff and film things but realistically I want something to have fun with not spend hours filming and doing nothing this looks fucking awesome for 300 and seems pretty small so I don't have to bother with a small digital camera for stills either and 5mp is enough for just snapping random shit.

helmet/ski mounts are all sticky mounts that have ultra adhesive pads. They can come off clean too. They have a strapped helmet mount that goes through the holes of your helmet that works well too with the right set of holes - also used this same strap around my full tilt boot tongue for a boot shot. Had a sticky mount on my skis that has never come off.

To get it on the ski pole I used some of the extender pieces and taped those along the side of the bottom of a pole - that way I can screw the cam on and off in a hurry and the angle at the pole head is able to change. I can have it pointing straight out from the pole or 90 to the pole. Usually have it pretty straight out from the pole so i can just point the pole way out at someone and get a super close shot. Great for following on rails, ski next to the rail and have the cam directly over the rail following across.

The little black grooved square pieces on the bottom of the pic are what you stick to your helmet and whatever else you want. They have a 3M sticky on the bottom as the adhesive. No screws needed. The camera case clicks right in to it. You can get a handlebar mount to put on your ski pole too.

Definitely worth the money. Also, I snap wide angle shots with it all the time. Takes pretty sick shots.
