Goodbye, MANNY

ya manny has some talent, but he wanted out anyway and he wasnt working his hardest on the feild. im more upset about loosing moss and hansen. just my opinion though.
 
im not worried about it. ive never been a big fan of manny anyways. hes a great player but i feel like he's a little overrated. i have no idea who jason bay is, but he sounds like he is pretty good.
 
honestly i cant even root for the red sox anymore. theo is so dumb, hansen had good stuff too, this is probably the worst trade in sports history. I hope the sox dont win ever again.
 
and Bertuzzi (plus a couple others of no consequence) for Luongo was pretty bad.

But seriously, this is brutal! And we're paying for 7 million of his fucking salary! I don't care if the guy is a bum, you can't replace those numbers! This makes no sense from a business persective or an on-field perspective. Even a lazy-ass Manny is better than Jason Bay.
 
i still cant fathom how bad this trade was, JASON BAY WTF HE is like a poor mans manny this season and mannys having his worst season in a long long time. the red sox are so dumb they just wanted to move manny ahhhjhhhhh
 
this is coming from a die hard bucco fan to all of you red sox fans who i cannot stand.

i know i know, manny is one of the best players in major league baseball, but he truly didnt want to be there. he wanted to win a ring and now he has 2. hes satisfied with boston. what you receive for a disgruntled lazy player is a guy who has carried an entire organization and put himself in 2, almost 4 allstar games, a former rookie of the year, and a guy who has missed very few games in the last 6 years. through all of this, he has quietly negotiated contracts and kept drama to a minimum, never been protected in a lineup, and played in front of an average of 15,000 fans.

bottom line is you should be happy, Jason Bay will be a hell of a Red Sock for a lot less than manny was, which means you can still acquire a good reliever if so needed. so fare well Jason, its been fun

But seriously, as much as I hate Manny Ramirez...this kind of sucks. I'm a yankees fan but when I think of the Red Sox the first thing I think of is Manny. He's like what made the Sox come to be what they are now. Fuck.
 
I don't know...I think there's a lot to be said for team chemistry and Manny contributes NOTHING to that. He's an egotistical, selfish piece of shit. Personally, I think the Yankees fell apart after Paul O'Neill retired - sure, he was only hitting like .270 towards the end, but he had heart and passion and that has value you can't easily put numbers on. Now we've got that douchebag A-Rod and how much good has that done us? No new rings in the Bronx. I hate the Red Sox, but I'm gonna have a hard time hating them so much now that Manny's gone. But, in the end, they might be better off. We'll see.

after time passed, im actually glad that the sox traded manny

manny was gone at the end of the season anyway, there was no way that the sox would pick up his option. the words exchanged between the sox and manny made manny have no interest in playing here at all. he wouldnt have tried whatsoever. now we get jason bay, only 29 years old and getting into his prime. he is better than manny when manny doesnt try, not to mention a way better teammate. sure that manny can be the arguably the best hitter when he tries, but there is no way he would try with the sox. its hard enough to even get him to play.

HOWEVER

i would have much rather had done the marlins deal. our bullpen was bad enough as it is, and now with hansen gone its even wrose. had we done the marlins deal, we wouldve also obtained john grabow, adding a relief pitcher instead of losing one. not to mention we also lost brandon moss.

but oh well

welcome jason bay! hell def do better now that hes with the sox, with more oppurtunitys to get rbis because the redsox hit better and more people get onbase
 
haha i used to love baseball when I was little and i don't watch it as much anymore so i'm not familiar with all of the new players. im from boston and i love the redsox, but since i live in CO now i dont get to watch games often now so i dont try that hard to keep up.
 
how can you hate manny ramirez????? yea he is sort of a headcase, but he is the fucking man. a future hall of famer, and who doesnt have the right to get fan popularity???? the red sox just gave up all hope of winning the world series this year. and for what?? jason bay?? fucking bullshit. fuck you theo epstein. i am thoroughly dissapointed in the front office for this bullshit, and i simply cant believe they would give up their best player and their season because they dont like him. FUCK YOU. i cant believe im saying this as a red sox fan. wow.
 
exactly... hes one of the best hitters in baseball today and one of the best right handed hitters of all time. its so stupid of the sox to try so hard to get rid of him, strait up trade for bay is BAD, but giving 7 million and MOSS and HANSEN is just stupid. No player can replace mannys offense, no playoffs for the sox this year.

i think jason will be a greta fit in boston plus he is 7 years younger than manny we are adding a guy who we can get atleast 7/8 more years of

As a Yankees fan, I don't know how to feel about this. I DESPISE Manny, so part of me would like to see the Red Sox do well to spite him. But...I still hate the Red Sox, so I can't really want that to happen. Very confusing feelings....

its not the redsox fault they traded him, they had to, manny is a cancer to the team, yeah he can hit well but he HATED playing for the redsox, he was good, but he didnt try all of the time, yes sometimes he tried but not all of the time and if the sox kept him, it would of only made matters worse because he would have been even more and more pissed about still being in boston, send him off to LA and hell live his own happy life cus who the fuck knows whats going on in his head

on that note, jason bay has made the all star team the past 2 years and he was the rookie of the year in 04 i think, correct me if im wrong, and he played for the PIRATES, they suck, playing on a better team like the redsox should give him a chance to contribute

goodbye manny. I am trying to avoid all the highlights, the pictures of him patting taverez's head or when he hit the HR last year against the angels and had his hands in the air. There are a million images, the nostalgia is killing me

youre really dumb.... for a person that lives near larry you should understand the sox situation more.

the sox and manny had enough of eachother. manny said the sox didnt deserve a player like him, and that the sox made him look like the bad guy, and all sorts of bullshit. he also tried to skip a series with the YANKEES, which is unacceptable. watching him run a 5.17 down the line during a no hitter was also unacceptable. he would have left at the end of the year anyway cause hes a free agent, and theres no way the sox woulda picked up his option. it wasnt the sox fault that manny got traded, it was manny's attitude and lack of effort. sure i agree that manny helped us greatly making it to and winning the playoffs and ws, but leaving a fuck you note is uncalled for. i loved him and he will be missed and its sad to see him go, but its justified.

I say good move. They're thinking of the future. Jason Bay is younger, faster and has really big potential to of improve.
