Heres what I think:
quantum physics tells us that all possibilities of indeterministic events occur simultaneously until there is an observer (The double slit experiment showed electrons interfering with themselves, passing through both slits at once). Moreover, in my reality I can only verify that I am an observer of deterministic events, and there is no way to verify if you are an observer like me. In fact, in my reality, I can logically conclude I am the only observer of events. Thus my observation of reality has taken a single, unique, determined path, different from any other observer. Simply by chance, if quantum physics is true, then other observers must have witnessed a difference occurence of things.
This tells me simply that there is much more to everything than what I can observe within time and space. More over, it tells me that my single life is unique not only in the way I have observed the outcomes of indeterministic events, but in the fact that my life has been determined and does not exist in a quantum state. I wonder, if i die, will everything return to inifinity and indeterminism?
The unqiueness and specialness of my own life suggests something special and confirms something else exists. Whether or not that is the christian god is debatable. But it is equally stupid and very naive and simple-minded to say science doesnt indicate any other "god."
If anything, science very greatly supports the specialness of life, not life as we witness it around us, but life as we witness our own. After all, if we were simply what chemistry and physics say we are, why are we not all 3rd person objects? Why am I observing me as me?
Sure I could think, but that doesnt prove I am as descartes said. My dog thinks. I can deduce he thinks through his actions. Does that prove he is though? Could be a figment of my imagination...
