i was at my local mountain today (the day after chrismas) and there where a ton of little kids and people that are bad at skiing/snowboarding and i counted 11 that had gopros. this maked me wonder, did that meny people everywhere get go pros or is crotched mountain just retarded
 
I used mine at the mountain today and I was surprised how many little kids came up and said "hey nice GoPro" instead of just "hey nice camera"

Seems like everyone knows what they are and wants or has one these days.
 
I must have counted at least 7 people at blue today with gopros. and yeah majority of them were like 12.
 
Go read the "what did you get for christmas" thread. Seems like it was a hot ass gift this year. Not to mention the plethora of other uses besides skiing they have. I'm gonna get one for my streetbike when I get one.
 
i just started barroving my brothers GoPro, ripped some rails and tons a BC with it...super fun, but yea i was supprised to see how many had those...i felt special for a minute...but then...^^jk
 
ya and the best part about it today was looking how they put it on there helmets, none of them just had it on the top. some had it onfront of there goggles or haning off to the side, or on a stick having a snowborder that dosent know how to snowboard folow them
 
lol i also got a go pro for christmas. i didnt use it today but when i went out i saw 2 other people with go pros on. but there are so many kids at my hill who obsiously dropped about 1500$ on all the newest gear, but they cant even get all the way to the end of a 25 ft box...it kinda grinds my gears

It's a relatively cheap camera with decent quality...THAT YOU CAN MOUNT ON YOUR HELMET. If I could afford one, I would have one.
 
Yeah there's a retarded amount of people with GoPro's but I don't see how that correlates with their ability to ski..
 
its definitely the gift this year....definitely the shizal........i went to wawa the other day there were like 2 people that had them and then 2 more of my friends got em.....i think its cool how kids can have a awesome quality camera that isnt 1000$ i think its good
 
damn bad kids ridding with go pros and having fun fuuuuuucccckkkkkk, but i have seen alot more go pros i bet the people that started that are rolling in money now im glad for them.
 
Look, if you watch tv at all, you will see that GoPro is advertising a lot now a days and lots of people are using them. I walked in on my cousin watching the family channel and there was a music video of a kid using one on a pole mount by the looks of it. Major companies are using them, we are using them, etc. GoPro isn't an itty bitty company anymore, and if I was in their position, I would be bouncing off the walls because of how much profit they are bringing in. And to add to how many we've seen, I saw one with a handlebar mount on an old ladies walker. Yeah, I thought it was fucked.

Yeah I noticed a few more at my mountain. Whatever it's just a camera I don't care how many people have them they are dope.
 
haha so funny to see over the year things change. i was rocking a gopro on my helmet almost 2 years ago! got them in january of 09..hahah.

my friend who i ski with has one and we film all the time. I'm not the best park skiier (but i like to think I'm decent) and fimlming is just flat oout fun.
 
cheap and small HD camera, why would everyone NOT want/use one?

it's better than seeing every kid with a 7d, not knowing how to use it well..
 
Go Pro's are pretty affordable, especially the old Wide versions. Being able to watch your filmed runs and seeing where to improve is priceless.

But I do agree on the fact that too many kids have them just because they think it's trendy.

I got one for christmas and I can't wait to hit up a mountain. I also mountain bike in the summer, so its not like its gonna sit in my closet for 5 months.
 
what do you want nobody else to have something you have? news flash, go pros aren't exclusive.

Ya I've had mine for 2 years too. But I've seen a few rental shops that rent gopros out for like $15-20 a day, so that might be why you are seeing so many in vacationers.
 
i'm not a great park skier by any means, but does that mean i can't use my gopro? let people have their fun, there is and should be no correlation between using a camera and degree of skill of a skier. you act like if you can right dub cork twelve high mute then you shouldn't be using a gopro. this camera isn't designed for the sole purpose of freestyle skiing. it's a camera to be used by a wide variety of consumers, whether it be gapers, pros, rally car drivers, surfers, etc..
 
i got one for christmas and am mainly planning on using it for whitewater kayaking cause its hard to find a decent waterproof camera... however it will be used for skiing the next couple of months
 
Uhh its called a gopro isnt it? I thought it was ment to make shitty skiers better...? Hence the name..

But yea ive saw like 10 kids yesterday with them. Didnt have a problem with it, just an observation.
 
its a little annoying how so many people have them now when they have nothing to shoot except pointless shit.

But whatever, let them do what they do. I got mine last year when they released the HD hero
