Go pro edits

they get me most stoked to shred...albeit some of them get repetitive, good gopro edits are aweosme.

GoPro edits with a lot of follow-cam stuff and the occasional pov/any other weird angles can be some of the best edits if they're done right. Filming yourself on boxes with the camera pointed at your skis gets old.

I think that GoPro edits like this are pretty sick!

But must agree with the OP mainly. There are far too many little kids making edits with them now.

i know theyre starting to saturate the video scene but they are so damn cool, you can do ill follows etc with them, and they make it feel like youre there

Just like all types of filming, people can do it well or not well. With POV GoPro edits, you don't even need a a friend willing to film you so lots of kids can just turn it on while they ride and make an edit

Go pros are the best for follow and stuff, but when your filming yourself on a jump, or like riding some fresh pow, its not the best, especially on the helment, it can be sick if its on the chest, but that is pretty much it.

but like again for follows, its super good, cause you dont have to care about pouinting the camerea at the right place, you look at the guy jumping, and its done. I got the none Hd one, and i wish i took the Hd one, there is a huge difference, night and day..

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!??... the "little kids" that you speak of are what drive our sport whether you like it or not, those kids see the edits that guys like wesson and wallisch are able to put out with gopro and they just want to be part of it.

we should be ENCOURAGING the kids who love skiing enough to put in the time and effort nessicary into making an edit of their own. personally i think that go pros are great and it opens a world of possibilties for those "little kids" who love to ski.

do you own a go pro?

they are just a toy camera that promotes lazy filming 90% of the time. they are not related to "driving the sport."

and to the 2nd paragraph.

why should we ENCOURAGE lazy and repetitive film making?

because not every edit needs to be protography?

i mean a bunch of homies dont need to be filming with a thousand dollar camera. if they just want to have fun and film a little edit, why not?

1. yes i do own a gopro

2. we should ENCOURAGE it becuase although you may think it is lazy and repetitive, that is not the intention, kids get stoked on thier gopro edits, whether you personally like them or not.

if for nothing else, seeing yourself ski on camera has an excitement in itself.

3. im not saying the camera itself is what is driving the sport, i am saying that the excitement that comes with gopro edits create oppurtunities for kids to feel like they are doing something real and proggressive.

whether it is "lazy" or not is not the point, the demographic of kids who go out and film and then make an edit are generally kids who are just excited to be skiing and are hoping that they can make somebody else excited about it too.

i think that it is a beautiful thing :')

I REALLY enjoy gopro edits. Even sucky ones. And bad news for the OP, i have a gopro, and i will be using it to make LOTS of edits.

if you don't like them, don't watch them. go pro hd's happen to be one of the best cameras for skiing you can get for 300$ and alot of people do not want to spend more, and like the fact that you just hit record and don't have to mess with any settings.

Yeah, I make shitty videos, but you know what. Screw off dude.

If you don't like em, don't watch em. It's easy.

Now YOU can stop making useless threads. thanks :)

The only thing I agree with is the "unless they entail water"... I totally disagree, GoPros are an inexpensive option for fairly decent film quality (for home edits) and give a variety of different angles... Edits with ONLY pov shots can be annoying, sure, but that's why there's pole/chest/head mounts for follow cam shots... Also, you can use it like a regular camera too.
Case in point: the two edits posted earlier. Both of those edits get me so stoked to get back on snow as soon as possible, and that wallisch gopro edit is my favorite edit of all time just from it's high energy, fun vibe alone.

you sir are a complete idiot.

yes for sure pov shots can be boring especially in the park, but gopros offer the chance to make some fun edits for a very low price.

not every body ca afford a 1000 $ camera. maybe you have or your parents will pay for it but mine won t , and i d rather spend 1000 $ going to new zealand than paying a pretty camera.

with go pro even non professional film makers can have a chance to express themself. it s so easy to use you can just carry it in your pocket. you can give it to your friends so they can film you.

and some people have done some realy realy sick shit with those.

especially the USC ski team. realy bad ass edits.

just dont watch them if you dont like them.

stop being a dick to stoked kids who try to be creative.

Discovery channel uses the GoPro camera to film sharks. I'm pretty sure those guys don't cheap out on equipment.

not quite sure i understand...You can get a variety of angles with different mounting points, it shoots in HD, and its like $300.I personally like them

man all your vids make me so ski pow so fucking bad. watching your videos on closing day at my hill i just went fuuuu

However this does not mean you can't produce quality edits. I used a GoPro last season but then decided I wanted use a real camera and got a T2i.
