GLOBAL WARMING Poll

You cant, global warming is a natural stage of the earth, its just getting colder now.

yes its def having a huge effect, anyone who hasn't noticed the effects of it means you like 14 and under and just some kid who hasn't been alive long enough to see it, or you too fucking stonned all the time.

The gulf stream, you mean haha.

Yes, global warming exists. I'm not sure anyone can pinpoint its effects for certain.

Too bad global has already started. Actually it always has existed I only goes way quicker know coz of the industry and cars pollution. Its true some areas will get colder and more dry or just more rain/snow. But one thing global scene it will be worse. You can get more rain but when its getting warmer u wont get more snow... And with more rain it means less skiing. So stup bitching and just say do something about it. Support green industry and green cars. Im absolutely not an left person who only wants a better environment. Im just not blind and want a world where people can still ski over 200 years.

no-because the gulf stream is what keeps the UK warm and the balance of fresh and salt water is what keeps it moving round so if global warming upsets the balance it stops and we get very cold.

like this year, the ski centers here opened in NOVEMBER (never happened in 15 years) and iv skied every weekend since newyear and its still snowing now.

some places will get colder and some places will get warmer.

Maybe its good for scotland but did u get more water out the air of less than normal? Ok less rain in ur area wont be bad at all but still... But think about other places they will get warmer nd get less snow...

our summers are realy hot and very dry and winters are getting wetter and colder.Scotland is weird because we live on the same latatude(sp) as norway and north canada but not as cold as them (yet). but i agree that something has too be done about it.

Its not getting colder...its getting warmer right now.

Earth is on a natural warming stage right now but the rate of which that warming has occured is amazingly fast.

So yes, maybe there isnt global warming due to human but how else would you explain the huge jump in temp over the last one hundred years? earth doesn't heat that fast.

read other peoples posts dude. areas that can maintain cold enough temps to provide snow and not rain such as mammoth and utah will get huge amounts of snow according to global warming because when the seas heat up theres more evaporation hence more powerful storm sytems. and the dude from scotland has no clue what hes talking about. he just watched the movie the day after tommorrow to many times.

Hmm well i dont know that much about it but its true that my bodies the nino's nd ninas have a big part in this.

I can tell you that in the last five years global warming has done very little, only raised the average temperature a few degrees (if any), in the northeast. Also that is average temperature so it really shouldnt have an effect on snow fall because average winter temperatures are different every year. The place that global warming has taken effect on snow cover is the glaciers of the northwest (Oregon, Washington, B.C., Alaska, etc.). glaciers act as mirors of heat from the sun, so as glaciers melt from global warming these areas relfect less heat than normal and warm at a greater rate. The east coast doesnt have to worry about low snow coverage from global warming, in fact global warming may change climate patterns and actaully cool the northeast before drastic global warming takes place. Glacier and the polar ices caps are in serious trouble right now. If you like summer camp on the glacier you should be worried. By the way i go to college bitches.

im in AP environmental in my highschool. We just finished up our chapter that included global warming in it, and the evidence is overwhelming. and i live in jersey, and our season has slimmed down from early december to mid april back in the mid- 1950's to late december to MAYBE mid march if we're lucky.

global warming affects skiing, definitly on the east coast

^^^^I hope u didnt mean it with a few degrees is nothing. If in the last 5 years temp raise with couple degrees than we have some serious, serious trouble! Btw u are true about the rest:D

im not sure what the temperature differences are because i dotn pay attention much in that class, but i do know that there was a graph showing carbon dioxide percentage in the air, and the number fluxuates up and down over the corse of a year (more trees to take in co2 in the summer and less in the winter) but over the past 300 or so years, however long they've had the technology to measure it, and for thousands of years before that by looking at ice in glaciers, carbon dioxide is on a steady incline, which will directly affect the temperature

...and no im really not a nerd i go out and party on weekends i swear lol

Humans have not been around long enough to say "we are causing global warming!" bullshit. The average temperature of the earth in our recorded history has only increased by 2 degrees. Now look at it like this, over that last trillion years or whatever you dont think the earth hasnt warmed 2 degrees before? Its just like the earth is having its summer... only thing is we've only been here long enough for this to be our first one.

the head of the Senate Environmental Committee, Senetor Inhofe for Oklahoma has been document numerous times stating, "Global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpitrated on the American Public"

OH!

well since an offical of the US government says its a hoax it MUST be true.

If anything, that statement validates global warming.

actualy, drilling for co2 levels in ice is only accurate up to 400 thousand years, that is nothing compared to the lifespan of earth.

No, no its not.

Earths cycles vary and can be 10 000 years or 50 000 years.

650 000 is plently to find a pattern. Gee, maybe it is that pattern that led them to this theory in the first place.

ya. global warming sucks. there is this one pic of this glacier like 100 years ago and then now and it has like completely melted. IT SUCKKKSSSS ASSSS

youve obviously been mis-informed. do you even know when the last ice age was? it was in the 13th century called the mini ice age. it is similar to what many scientists believe we are entering right now. where the average global temp dropped 4.5 degrees. yes a mere 4.5 degrees and stanford profs called it an ice age. dont try and tell me weather patterns are varialble enough to create a 2 degree climb this fast, because its simply not possible for the average temp to rise an AVERAGE 2 degrees not a fluke year/ 2 years 10 years but an average since the industrial revolution. global warming is not only off setting the mini ice age we would normally be entering but its warming the temperature very fast. and youre wrong if you think 650 thousands years is as far as they can go back. I worked in alaska on lakes with NSF this past summer coreing lakes to determine and further proove climate change, you take a mud core of the bottom of the lake and can carbon date plants and study information collect in other ways to relate them together. you can look at sediment rates and the different accumulation rate of the sediment resultiong from the either melting or growing of glaciers. (these lakes are all glacier fed) if a glacier is doing well and growing then there is less sediment accumulation. when a glacier retreats all the debris it used to be on top of is free and accumulates in the lakes we work on. besides the last major ice age ended only 10k years ago there have been HUNDREDS of ice ages in 650k years. if you need facts i can give you links but trust me dude global warming is very real. i can even give you phone numbers to at least 6 PHD scientists and you can argue with them. the question whether it has effected the ski industry already? well thats a different question entirely. but it is most deffinetly real. I mean even bush admits its real now and is trying to push alternative energy funding 6 years to late but better then never.

haha yes, but i dont think that is an immediate threat :P couple billion years away yet

Mt. Creek has been majorly affected by global warming. half the season it wasnt even cold enough to make snow. we got a few flurries, and at most one time about a foot. but thats sad. this is why i say yes. i also say no because of all those huge amounts of snow they got in europe this year.

I personally do not believe in global warming. I dont feel like list the 8 million reasons to as why...look it up on internet or take a 7 ideas class. Global deming on the other hand...thats what we need to worry about.

yur dumb... i am definitly not a hippy, and actually very right-wing, and i know global warming is real. go look at the facts for yourself. something has to be done soon, unless you all wanna be hitting summer set-ups year round.

good points..... you cant just say there are 8 million reasons why it doesnt exist and not even mention one. and then tell people to take classes. not a very strong argument there. this is good though, this is actually a good debate thread we just need to see some more facts and support for the case of non existant global warming for it too get really good.

no, I think there's just as much evidense that suggests that the earth's climate is changing naturally the same way it has before humans existed. However, that does not mean that we shouldn't do our very best to preserve the environment.
