I'm not the best skier at like park nd whatnot, i mean i can do 360's and easy boxes, but i want to get alot better, and possibly get sponsored someday. what should i work on to improve? How good do you have to be to get sponsored?

Dude if you can do a backflip it basically means your gunna be sponsored vey soon...jokes. Searchbar next time maybe?

ha ive been wondering the same thing i can do rodeos and switch flips and im still no where near getting hooked up so keep tryin

start your own company and sponsorize your self. jk, but really getting sponsored is rare. i mean there's the few kids at every hill that is sponsored but all they really might get is 30% off whatever company. you really gotta throw down

Spin onto, switch up, and spin off rails and throw doubles like nothing. if you don't do many comps, good look getting noticed. Every pro has done comps and then moved on into the BC and all that.

ya you're right but i wanna know what it takes to get sponsored cuz you have to admit, it would be cool to get free skis or get paid to ski. Plus even tho its kind of off subject i'm looking at going to college later at Central, WA and thats like right by the mountains so a sponsorship would be pretty cool

yes

but in today's bustling industry, you might want to invest in some wrist guards to go along with said knee pads.

You could more than likely get sponsored at your level threw Monsterenergy.com. the sponsorships are nothing too big. just afew free things, 30% off all goods, and you get your pics on their websites.. its nothing big but its a start man.. try it out.

i hate to say it but im gonna have to disagree with you for a lot of kids out there sponsership is why they push themselves so hard and ya skiing just for the fun of it is great but some people like having some recognition which is usually thought of as getting sponsered feel free to disagree or call me a faggot but thats jus my opinoin

its seems that when people first start to ski they think, o wow i can get sponsered and ski for free, but then as time goes on they start to relize how hard it is to be and then they start to just want to ski and have fun with there budds

Crazy man. I go to Central right now. I hit up Stevens Pass which is like two hours away, but theres also Snoqualmie which is 45 but ehhhhhhhh.

im not saying that at all im just saying that you shouldnt only ski to get sponsered but if you want to thats fine but its just a lot more fun when your messing around with your friends

my opinion no hate at all

if you know you could push yourself to get to the point where companies came to you then why would you feel the need to ask? plus you do realise that out of all of the members here, very few are truely sponsored, so how do you want them to answer you? come on dude, use that noggin.

maybe being sponsored means that you can get gear for cheap. getting sponsored doesn't change that skiing is fun. sponsorship is great when done for the right reasons. in my experience, people don't change when they get sponsored when they get free stuff. and if you do, you are just a fake person. if youre not enough without it, youre not enough with it.

i want to get sponsored because i want to get free stuff and brag to a bunch of people i dont know... i dont really even like skiing that much

im not joking, theres no extra money right now and unless u r throwing the dopest shit its gonna be super hard. im not trying to bring u down but i have been trying and i have sw9, cork 9 and a bunch of shit and all the companys have been telling every one they just cant right now!

dude honestly, if you're not already in 'the network' of good skiers/reps/shops and shit... its not going to happen. its not like sal masekela is out there secretly filming your 270's on, and grading your marketablility. No one is going to be pro for you. If you wanna be pro, quit your job, drop out of school, assemble a crew of people that are talented and down for the cause... ski the shit out of every mountain in your region.. film it.. maybe you'll get some NS fame, i dunno.

I want to be sponsored so I can tell people on the chairlift and intimidate them. Also, I want to be sponsored so I can tell people in the terrain park and intimidate them. Also, I want to be sponsored so I can tell people at school and intimidate them.

You can't blame somebody for wanting to get sponsored. It's the cool thing to do. I used to want a sponsor, just for kicks. Even you, Allen, aspired to be sponsored - I remember you posting your Loop'd profile once. Don't make me dig that up..

You're probably right. Most ski companies don't really have that much money to be throwing away on marketiing let alone giving kids free sticks. If you want to get spancerized you better hope that the economy gets better and people start buying more skis.

ok heres a basic run down for you...

1) enter Comps

This here will get you more recognized then ever... win them, and get better, use them to figure what to do and what not

2) Practice daily

Get a tramp, learn tricks take em to snow

3) i hate to say this... TRAIN!

work on those legs and core, and def. flexibility

you dont want to push yourself so hard, that you fuck your knees, cause then your done

4) film with a crew

get your footy out there, get it circulating

5) Make friends...

you never know... that sucky kid in park, his dad could be head of marketing at the local mountain, and if you help say kid, maybe some tickets get flowed your way

6) HAVE FUN

this is most important of them all... laughing is one of the healthiest things you can do

If somebody becomes a douchebag because they got sponsored, they were inevitably going to be a douchebag sooner or later anyway.

Sponsorship isn't the worst thing in the world, and I think it's a good thing for a some people. It makes you push yourself to be a better skier, learn more about the industry, interact with some cool people, and most importantly you learn if you really want it. I think that after a couple years of being sponsored by a few shops, most people realize that sponsorship has its perks, but they don't realllly want to try to pursue giant sponsors.

WHEN YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT IS ABOVE AVERAGE OR UN-ORDINARY, ORDINARY PEOPLE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO BRING YOU DOWN. DON'T LISTEN.
SHOW UP, TRY HARD. CONSISTENT EFFORT OVER TIME.

alright, inless you live somewhere very populated ( whistler parkcity,breck... etc ) you may not go very far because compaines onhlye care about publicity , if yuor not gunnab e in comps, filming ... your not gunna noticed , and not sponserd companies want people who will make all the 12 year olds think that if they get teh same skis as tanner hall , tom wallisch etc . and you can do all the same stuff they can, and also i usta think i was alright, intill i joined freestyle clubs and relize how good some kids accutaly where like all the 11 year olds rip hard.. its nuts but just have fun , and if your good it will come to you.

ya god forbid we'd ever want to do anything that would teach discipline and structure. The last thing we would want is for anyone to get any results...

you ask how good do you have to be to get spankerized.
here you go:
I live in PC. I have been skiing for a very long time and i am reasonably dialed into what is up. You have to be fucking sick straight up. 10 year old kids are out there with world class coaches 100 days per year. They are coached on trampoline by world class coaches year round. In the summer time they are coached by world class coaches at the olympic park water ramps. When they are in highschool they go to a sports academy where they really step it up and get focused.
