Gear rumours 20/21

Another interesting developement is what Salomon are doing next year.

Dual titanal all mountain range, kinda like a M5 mantra, Kendo, mantra 102 series. Interesting for the directional chargers who want a 90-100mm ski

I'm super interested in that if so. The qst line kicks ass for what they are, but they are lacking in the hard charging all mountain category. Also want to see a new bc freestyleish ski from them, like a more playful qst118, or one off like the blackops.

New range of salomon Freeride skis for next year. Much stiffer than qst range.

And new free touring boot

Atomic is making a touring boot based on the hawx prime.

I’ll say bout time mostly because the FT Ascendant is one of the only wider freeride touring boots out right now (except some scarpa models but those don’t always sell to the more NS type of clientele)

The Technica Cochise and Lange Freetours have a 100mm last.

Yeah so does the lupo AX, but I'm talking 102mm+. I get a lot of customers who are apprehensive to buy say a hawx XTD or even lupo AX, even after telling them about molding the shells. Some just want to start wider.

Damn that's wide

Correct, they are called the Stance. Will be a 90, 96 and 102.

Its almost as if they walked into a meeting with a Volkl Kendo, Mantra M5 and Mantra 102 and said make these.

Exactly that. Pretty sure they will not admit, but the current qst boot is a massive flop compared to the old quest line

I imagine the boot will replace the QST line. I don't think that boot's very popular.

Each with a twin tip? Not a bad idea ?

Nope, flat tails, with a bit of tip rocker and only a few mom’s of camber.

if you like the Mantra/Kendo I can’t see how you wouldn’t like these

The amount of post ski boot work done on the QST’s was a joke, it’s nice to see the back-end of them

The lupo ax and the mindbender fill that role pretty well already. You can get some huge feet in Te mindbender. Those were the top two selling boots (not just walk mode boots but boots in general) in the shop I used to be at as finally there were high volume freeride boot options. So along with the ascendant high volume feet finally have good boots again since the demise of the waymaker.

Nothing we haven't seen before, but looks like we may start to see some more of these on social media in the near future. Doesn't look like much rocker (if so, looks very mellow/gradual) and a very straight/long sidecut?
https://www.instagram.com/p/B5IBvQtI7Ao/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Markus Eder also on some protos. Waist width in the 100 range? Def more tapered than the Revolt 95, so maybe new for 2021? Sidecut also looks pretty straight.

I believe this is the new K2 Reckoner series.

Think there is going to be 3 of them a 96ish 104-6ish and a big boy 121ish.

no metal and more playful than the Mindbenders, less sidecut, more rocket tip

and tail and a more playful flex

There’s been confirmation of a Reckoning 102 and 122 already but haven’t heard for sure on a Poacher replacement. Mid season release (mid-late January).

You would think they would put a 112ish waisted one in there considering a lot of people see 122 as too wide to be a versatile ski. Not my personal opinion, but based on people I used to talk to while working in a shop, a lot of people saw wider than about 115 as strictly a powder ski to be used a couple times a year, and this was at jackson not on the east coast.

102 112 122 is the line up.... they look sick as fuck....also a 140 recon pro boot.

saw it in another thread a month or two ago but is it true that there will be some sort of FKS150/Pivot15 variation next year that we can all buy?

I wish they’d just do a 16 instead of a 15. But with the all metal toe like the old 15s.

Yep, 15s, and they’ll come in gold (and other colors, I just forget which ones) and they’ll be identical to 18s except the din. And they’ll be 399.99 ? but I’m hyped

Confirmed with the Lange&co rep. Will come in gold, black/purp, and another I don't recal. Forza colorway on the 18 will be replaced with a black and purple colorway. New XT Free line that uses Dual Core like the RX but with Grilamid. So the 130 may ski more like a "real" 130.

In Line news, a wider Vision will be available for 2021.

Mid season release? Or next season?

Heard there was going to 3 Reckonings but only saw the 102 and 122 confirmed so glad there is going to be a 112. The 112 will definitely be more versatile as it could be used more often as that’s a nice Spring snow or “bit of new snow” width.

Can definitely see a Reckoning 102 in my future if it’s as good as I think it will be. Can tell by the shape alone it will be much more versatile and higher performing.

The Poacher has a good shape, flex and weight for it’s width so far less to change anything on that ski.

Think one of you is talking about the Pivot 15 release(next year as they seem to be trying to keep it a secret still) and one is talking about the K2 Reckoning release(mid season release-mid January) as they have been showing teaser pics for months now.

So dope. Anyone fondled a pair long enough to gauge flex/weight. The rep I talked to said that he was stoked to have a better shreddittor 112 in his life. That’s pretty high fucking praise in my book.

I'd sell most my quiver and left nut for a "better" shredditor 112

very nice graphic

Hopefully referenced post removed guys didn't get fired for that terrible flip-phone pic.

Ski looks kind of boring imo. Have you guys ever seen the MSP 107? I haven't been a K2 fanboy since the Glenn Plake era though.

I heard the unnamed hero had to zoom in on the screenshot of a piece of paper for that shot.

Regardless, real excited for the Reckoner 122. I completely agree with you that the graphics aren’t anything fancy, but the specs make up for it (Not to mention, the new JJ Zero is one of my favorite graphics so that goes to show what I prefer).

From what I’ve seen it takes me back to mounting up that first year of the Pettitor 120. All-time ski.

The MSP 107 is dope but it doesn't really satisfy my undying Shredittor hype. To be fair, I've always loved K2 but the current freestyle line didn't really work for me. I hope they drop something sick. If the 112's come in heavy-ish around ~2100g it will be a zero-hesitation purchase from me, no waiting for deals, I'll just fucking buy them.

Was going to post these. I’m digging the new colors. I love my bright green goblins (2017) but the softer colors are rad.
