Game of Thrones

I'm so pissed they left out the Reeds. And Reek, no clue what will happen to Theon now, could be interesting, may still end up with the bastard I suppose.

But not sure what they will do with Bran without Jojen their.

^ Yeah really, no Jojen or Meera really changes shit. No Reek really changes shit, but I like how Theon just gets clubbed. Also, I didn't like how they had Peter talk to Sansa, makes him seem so much more cunning when he uses Dontos to set her free.

Yeah I agree, they are making Baelish look bad ass too early. In book 3-5 it is slowly just like damn. Baelish is a fucking genius.

^ Definitely start at Game of Thrones. The first book is pretty similar but you will have a much greater understanding moving forward. Also, take your time because the Winds of Winter probably won't be out for a whillllle.

I know i'm one season late but...

WHAT THE FUCK THE NEW KING PISSES ME OFF WHY DID THEY KILL NED?!?!?!?!

Was the House of the Undying done well in relation to the book? I thought it ended a bit abruptly here, seeing as the wizard slaughtered dozens of men earlier with ease.

if you could make the house of undying a super short version and still be decent...they did a pretty good job of it.

in the book she goes through 10 times more doors and climbs way more stairs (its like never ending)....they only cut out one huge thing from the house of the undying, something that would have been to much of a give away....as you saw her reunited with her old dothraki husband, and she saw a destroyed iron throne.....in the book there was one more scene she saw too....won't say it cause its to much of a spoiler.

so the zombie guys at the end were white walkers, but mance rayders guys are coming too? theres gonna be a fuckload of people at the wall....

but realistically couldnt they just collapse that tunnel? itd take forever for attackers to mine back through it and the nights watch could just keep collapsing their efforts at tunneling back south through the wall.

i wouldnt be too worried lol

Just finished watching the latest one and.....

THAT WAS FUCKING GOOD.

REALLY GOOD.

Tyrion - He is a boss and him staying because he loves the game too much was some straight up Avon Barksdale shit from The Wire. Amazing. Feel bad that he's getting screwed by his family, but they are a bunch of c**ts anyway so that was to be expected.

Stannis - He explained all the reasons why this Lord of Light stuff is bullshit but then just goes along with it anyway... what did he see in the fire to change his mind? That black smoke thing (fresh off the plane from Lost)? Because that really needed a bit more coverage.

Daenerys - House of the Undying was cool, and glad that the Dragons got into the action with their wizard proof fire steeze. The locking up of the King of Qarth chap in his vault was cool. Cold... but cool.

Robb - Was a bit Robb lite, but I suppose not a lot going on with him in comparison to the other arcs. Good to see him fucking off some Frey bint and marrying the foreign babe. Hopefully he wins at everything as he is the moral compass and general good guy, getting shit done for good reasons. Plus I'm from the North (of England) so I'm always gonna root for House Stark.

Arya - That Jaqen guy is immense. What sorcery was going on with his face and the magic words though? And is Gendry just gonna fade out? or is he biding his time being a hench blacksmith.

Joffrey - Yes you have an attractive new fiancee. Yes you are still a total penis! The actor plays it too well, he must be a total nobhead as well.

Theon - Not a bad guy, just a bit of a dick. Seems to be par for the course if you are an Iron islander - they are all wankers.

Jon Snow - I seriously can't wait to see the Mance Rayder chap and his city. What is the deal with the Wildings and these undead White walkers? they got an unholy truce or just not met yet?

Apologies for the diatribe, but I need season 3 to start ASAP, either that or plough through the books (of which I have read none)

Thoughts?!

probably been asked but is it worth it to read all the books from the start, or just continue the series from where the tv show left off?

The last two episodes were so good. I'm going to have to start reading the books, theres no way I can wait until next season.

Hehehehe, the rob comment, hehe, have fun, hehe.

Stanis saw something, and was obviously enough to convince him of the red god, and he is not a man who falls for simple shit.

I really wish they had not left Sir _______ and the red priest out of the movie. Since they are very important when it comes time to deal with Lady _______, after the Red _______. I think it would also help show the importance of the Red Priestest powers, the power of the white Walkers, the power of the faceless men, the importance of Bran and Jojen's interactions and how it relates to the state of the 7 god westerosi' state religion.

Theon is a bad dude, the show is under showing how big of a fuck twat he is, anyway, Karma's a bitch.

Apparently the Reeds are being cast for next season so that is good, and I also think that Sir _____ will come into play too. They only mentioned him in book 2, and he didn't really come into play until 3. Ned did send him off in Season 1, so I think we will see more of him.

The show hasn't done a great job of showing how messed up the world is because of the war, but I think they will have to spend more time on that in season 3.

and the fact that the third book is being split into 2 seasons...20 episodes so we should get the full effect on how fucked up the world really is now.

the thing is the gap between the first 3 books is only 2 years, then 5, then 6, whats the reason for the gap? the more recent books are no longer than the original ones

damn, that kind of patience astonishes me, but damn does that revision show, imo the show will never show the fullness of the series you can get from reading the books

That is true with all adaptions. But that is amazing that they are splitting the 3rd into two seasons, gives him an extra year to get book 7 out too. I think the show will force him to finish the books more quickly though.

When I heard the 3rd book would be split into two seasons, I had to buy the books. Just finished Feast Of Crows, tomorrow I'll buy Dragons. Things will get epic soon enough, fun to see how the show will display all the events to come.

3/4 of the way through the 3rd book, and I must say, 2nd half better than the first so far. After watching first two seasons, reading first two books, first half of book 3 was a bit predictable (I am a pretty big fan though so maybe not for all). Also, when reading the books, love it because you will find the times when your heart is beating when you are reading before bed and and up staying up later than 2 hours planned.

holy moly i finally just finished season 2

say i were interested in picking up the books in the meantime, where would i start from given ive seen seasons 1 and 2 of the show?

I, like an idiot, attempted to start with Storm of Swords. I made it through, but found myself having to google characters and threads not addressed in the tv show. I ultimately read them all, but at the sacrifice of some earned dramatic payoff.

I would recommend anyone thinking of reading the books to start with book 1. Even if some things will be redundant, it's still ultimately worth it what with all the exposition and character building.

If you have time on your hands, you could easily read all 5 in a month or so.
