Game of Thrones

they didn't have that much of a budget to do large battle scenes in the first season. because that season was a huge success HBO was able to increase the budget for the second season i see no reason why they wouldnt have battle scenes, plus the battle of the blackwater is a pretty big event in the books. they cant leave it out.

Tyrion's speech was solid, also a good job by Sanza. I like how they stayed focused on the Blackwater for the whole episode, now I can not wait for the house of the undying.

They got The National to do Rains of Castamere for the credits. That is just outstanding. This is quite possibly the best thing HBO has ever done.

I don't think that episode could have been done any better and still fit into an hour. Outstanding work for the budget they have. The chain would've been nice but it was still effective.

You could see the budget limiting the scale I'm sure, but for one that green explosion was as spectacular as the Hound was efficient.

The ending was a bit abrupt, but for those reading the books, do you think everything from the second book can be wrapped in just one more episode? Seems like there's so much still going on - Aria and Gendry, Jon's capture and the Others, "MAAHH DRAGGOONS!", Kingslayer with tomboy, Sansa and Hound, Robb's attack etc.

I knew that was The National. The singer's voice is incredible and so easy to recognize. The episode was fantastic as well. This show is insane, I seriously need to catch up in the books.

The battle of the Blackwater are chapters 57 through 62 of 69 in the book, and I would say that they concluded it nicely to set up for the last episode. Don't really know what will happen with Jon/Bran/Theon as it is pretty different from the books, but I think a large part of Ep. 10 will be The House of the Undying, with the finishing up at Kings Landing/the Wall/Winterfell. I don't know if they will show Arya again.

I must say that I like Arya more in the books, she has a body count of like 5 people by the time she escapes Harrenhal in the books, plus the people that Jaqen killed for her.

Sorry for double post but couldn't agree more. I couldn't close it down, it is rare for me to watch the whole credits but I had to.

Well now we know where the budget went towards.

I am not so much worried about them getting through the h of the undying as being able to get through Astapor, Mereen and Yunkai. Doing all three will take a long time and cost a bunch of money. I'm betting they cut that down to just one city. Some have suggested they might just make all of it into Qarth to save screen time. Which would significantly curtail the almighty force of Godly wrath that is a small blonde girl named Dany.

As awesome as the National song was it should have been saved for the Red W. those who have read this series will probably agree (trying not to make spoilers here).

As for the Hound, while I thought it was good and knew they would give him more screen time he has been changed. He was much more sneering and contemptuous in the books, more of an insecure bully. He just seems super bitter. It's not necessarily bad, but it isn't as deep a character. Partly because they only have so much time to spend on each person. Cersei has been great this season in the time they've given her.

looked awesome though. I'm glad they didn't copout and go cheesy cgi. It was cool how tyrion (half man ha whatever his name is) was all blown away by it while you see geoffrey is a fucking nutjob and loves it. By FAR the best show on tv right now, made the wait for white collar and suits (two shows not nearly as good) completely bearable.

i bet it'll be a half hour in the house of the undying and half hour every where else....they can definitely do it well enough and can't wait till season 3.

*Possible spoiler*

I think they will end it with a camera shot going over The Wall and we see Mance Rayder and 100,000+ wildlings that are ready to march.

Question for book readers: I want to read the books, but will I bored if I start at the beginning since I already know the general plot? Will it be confusing If I tried starting from book 3?

I don't think they will have problems getting through all three cities in slavers bay, I think they will probably have to shoot most of that stuff in studio and use a bit of CGI to make it cheap enough, but they can go pretty quickly through both Astapor and Mereen, and spend a lot of time on Yunkai. The fourth book didn't have Danaerys in it, but I can't imagine that they will shoot the show the same way, so really there are 3 seasons to get through the three slave cities.

@ Squaw read the books from the beginning, if you get bored with them because you know what is going to happen, you probably would have gotten bored with book 3 anyways.

@ Scratch I doubt that, I think it will end with Danaerys, and the last we will see of Jon/the wildlings is him just going into there camp of ridiculous numbers, not even meeting Maynce this season.

I think that by doing it this way, they are letting us know that when this song is played, shit is about to go down. That way, when the certain event that you're speaking of begins to occur, and Rains begins to play, (hopefully) people will know something bad is about to happen.

not really they left a lot out in the show and things will make more sense so i would say read the books from the beginning

good episode. Was kinda hoping Stannis(sp) would win but I guess that would kinda ruin the plot. Gonna start reading the books now. Don't feel like waiting to see how the whole story plays out.

I see where you're coming from, but whatever it takes to keep Tyrion in the series is what I require. Him fucking with Joffrey (aka Stuart Broad for the english amongst us) is too good.

starting watching the 1st season again, i feel like i missed some stuff watching season 1 and 2 a few days ago. sometimes they finish a sentence and im like whoa whoa whoa, wtf did u just say?

I think his death would have to be more spectacular. I don't think they'de just start next episode like well shit I guess he fell too hard that guys dead. I'd be pissed anyway. Can't wait to see what happens tonight.

wait so I'm really confused.

i'm just finishing season 1 episode 5 and i'm confused about whats going on in the grand scheme of things right now.

so the wife of the king thinks that the midget pushed the little boy off the castle and is taking him to court technically? and whats all this talk about someone is going to be assassinated?

so ned just got wounded by that guy

does this mean their families are going to war?

gahhhh so confuseddddd but it's such a good show. tyrion is the man.

stop confusing yourself with this thread. just watch the show and catch up then come back

pretty much called it.

and man the third season is going to be ridiculous, people who never read the books and only watch the show will get extremely pissed ha.

All who watched the season 2 finale, I thought Sansa went with dog? And I really wanted the white walkers to just rip sam to shreds
