Fulltilts...hype or truth..?

okay, so since ive been on here i have seen alot of talk about fulltilts, i love the boots, im buying a pair, but is it all hype, or is the boot really that good..? if somebody has the answer let me know.

People buying them just because they look cool is the hype. But lots of people legitimately like the boots.

go get fitted, all the hype in the world wont stop you from having a bad day if your feet break because your boots dont fit.

They are a well designed boot, very simple, progressive flex, easier for bootfitters to work on and able to be customised far more than other boots

But they are shit if they don't fit.

im not retarded...im jus trying to get the best gear for my money, i no they arent the same, im jus trying to figure things out, cause i dont want to waste my money on gear thats durable and really good

no, they brought them back because it was supper cheap,

they do suck though, boot designs have come a long way in the last 20 years. Ski in a dalbello krypton, then ski in a full tilt, you will immediately notice the difference and want to go back to the krypton mold.

Or almost any other high end boot.

the spk is shit too, might as well ski in a sorrell.

Agreed everyone has different feet.

me personally i love my Head Mojo Pros. I have yet to find a nicer boot that fits.

but i have to say full tilts do looks awesome

You have to quit asking people online and go to a store and try on different boots. Different feet fit better in different boots. That's all there is to it. One is NOT better than the other when it comes to YOUR comfort and what performs and fits best on YOUR foot. You just have to go try and see what works. Best o' luck.

Yeah, they totally suck. That's why people kept wearing them even 20 years after they had been made. That's also the reason Seth Morrison skis on them exclusively.

I did try on Dalbellos. They're too big for my skinny feet, and there was too much volume over the top of my foot as well.

But hey, what do I know right? I mean, I don't know how I can be on my Full Tilts even though they suck right?

Almost forgot:

OP, there's a STICKEY at the top of the gear chat forums on HOW TO SHOP FOR BOOTS.

You might want to try that for advice, then GO to a real BOOT FITTER. That's the only way you'll get some that fit correctly.

im sorry but for you to say that is fail on your part.

As above says Seth Morrison is on them. want to tell him they suck?

so what if they dont look ultra modern thats not what makes a good boot.

I would ask seth how much they had to pay him to get him to wear those pos boots.

and people buy stuff if it is marketed well, not necessarily if it is a good product. Full tilts had incredible marketing.

Hype. Way too soft, the forward lean is overkill, and the front sole isn't replaceable when it wears down.

I've skied them, and hated them. My last and current pair of Langes were and are far better performance wise, but again, what fits your foot is most important.

if a bunch of popular up and coming pros like wallisch and hornbeck started wearing race plug boots, i bet a lot of kids on NS would consider buying a pair of race plug boots. full tilt has exceptional marketing no doubt, but that doesn't mean they have an exceptional product.

DOod, he said he had a basement full of old raichles and was afraid he would have to quit if he ever ran out of boots. Same boot, better liner, and then he still rides them. I wonder if maybe youre just pissed cause they dont fit you properly.

dude...really? give me a break. he's been using those for 15 years.

Full tilt work for some, suck for others. That is the same as everything.

Are they the best boot for everyone? no.

Are they the best boot for some? Yes. let those people enjoy the boots.

The hype created on ns has been overboard, but for anyone who knows anything about boot and thinks for their fucking self knows that having a boot with the correct fit is paramount to everything else.

You guys can talk shit about them all you want. They don't work for you, so don't use them. But they work for some. Let those people use them without having to deal with all this haterade bullshit.

My recommendation for the boots is to get the stiffest tongue possible and pull out all the forward lean shims. Others will probably hate the boots with that.

Figure this shit out for yourself. Ignore all the other bullshit people are saying. Go to a shop and trust what feels and skis right. The rest is just noise.

even if a pro wears a boot, persnally i wouldnt go buy it. Example, Pollard who rocks technica boots, and is one wicked good skier, wont make me think "I should go get another pair of techincas, sure they dont keep my feet warm but Pollard uses them so i should too". new technilogy and different boot shapes/designs are great and allow more people to find a perfect fit for their foot. Better fit=more people out on the slopes tearing it up and having fun.

perhaps FT boots + vibram sole= more durability?

Jea. Iggy Laying it down for the haters.

Seriously though, Seth was on FTs before they even PAID pros to wear them. That and if you watch some of the videos of interviews with Seth, he talks about how he was stockpiling old Rachle (spelling?) parts.

what he is trying to refer to is getting the intuition liners molded, depends on the shop, and weather you get the boots from that shop. The shop I work at won't charge you, if you got the boots/liners (they are available separately) from us. otherwise it is shop labor.

and keep in mind that molding the liners can only do so much, If your foot is wider then the boot (which is pretty common) then its still gonna hurt, until you get shell work done, which is at shop labor. Also keep in mind you can not stretch the instep of that boot, so if you have a high instep your not going to be able to easily make the boot work.
