Full tilt shell and liners

Hi guys, Ive searched but I couldnt find the answer.

I know that say, a 26.0 and a 26.5 boot has the same shell, so is it the liner thickness that alters the size in them?

yeah the liners are sized differently for example in the booter for size 25.5 it is a 26-26.5 shell with a 25.5 liner in it

ignoring the Influence boots because the sizing is irregular on them, there is no difference between liners in normal 2:1 lasted ski boots. 2:1 lasting means that for 2 sizes (26.0 & 26.5) there is 1 shell. All that changes between the half and whole size is the footbed, which is thicker in the whole size so it feels a bit tighter for 10 minutes. Lange/Rossi go so far as to only offer the half size in their boots (they don't make whole sizes anymore).

Plus with liners being heat moldable, meaning they conform to your foot shape and the shape of the shell, any difference that would have been created with a half-size liner is gone.

Nice one guys,

I had a pair of full tilts apart the other day to change the footbed in a 26.5 from a rigid to a active rubber one and the footbed said that it was a generic 26-26.5 bed?

Basically, I wanted a pair of Hot Doggers in 26.5 but couldnt get them. I tried on some 26.5 classics and they were just right, but any smaller just wouldnt have worked but I found a pair of 26.0 Hot Doggers which brings me to my question.

Footbed: the insole your foot sits on, inside the liner. usually absent from FT liners.

Boot board: the rigid plastic or softer PU/rubber insert that lives under your liner in the shell.

If you buy a Hot Dogger in a 26.5 or 26.0 and get them heat molded, they will be the same.

Thanks man!

Just one more question, I might be able to get hold of some Seth Morrisons in my size if I cant Hot Doggers, would these be sweet for park if I changed the tounge to a softer one or is there more to it?

You can just get a #6 tongue and it will flex pretty similarly to a Hot Dogger, but because of the extra firm treatment on the Seth liner, it will 1) feel much firmer on your leg/foot (which you may or may not like) and 2) it does affect the overall stiffness of the boot. For example, a Hot Dogger with a #10 tongue will not be as stiff as a Seth with a #10 tongue.

Thanks man you were right,

Took the risk and ordered a pair of Hot Doggers in 26.0 and they are spot on, thanks for the advice

Whole sizes still exist because honestly it sells more boots. You'd be surprised how many people just buy their street shoe size and if you take out the whole size, it confuses people. However, if you are educated about the situation, you realize how stupid it is.
