so i use to think skiers who didnt use poles were gay.
then i this weekend i was practicing lincolns and i kept eating shit and bending/ jamming my poles into my body,
so i was like what the hell ill get rid of poles.

so i did.
and skiing is much more fun with out poles.
it feels great.
i feel like a douche for thinking skiers with out poles are gay. i ski poless now

I use poles constantly unless were filming so we can switch off easily. I just feel more comfortable using poles, however i dont hate on people that go no poles its fun and unique.DO YOUR OWN THING

since i learned from the beginning with poles i feel pretty naked without them, but i agree with that other guy no reason to hate on people who don't use poles, its all personal preference i guess.

i have started using poles again, but thats just cuz it feels better to me in the air and in the lift line

Ya no kidding... both of my thumbs are swollen and tender. I busted a pole today and was forced to go without them for half the day. I couldn't get used to riding without them, and my balance in the air (rolling up the windows) and on rails was off. I think I might be to used to them to give them up now.

i dont know what to do with my hands when im going with out poles, i feel dumb.... not saying people who dont use poles are dumb, i just feel awkward with out em.....

the past few times i've skied I forgot my poles, so I had to go sans poles obviously, and I was pissed each time. It's great for grabs and stuff, but I like poles. Then again, I usually end up skiing a good few days a season without poles, whether it is due to forgetting them, breaking them, skiers thumb (hasn't happened in a long while thankfully), etc.

i used to hate no poles, untill i broke both poles 1st run and i couldnt do shit, by the time lunch came around i got the hang of it and i havnt used poles the last 6 times ive gone and i like it ALOT more. WAYY easier to do grabs.

in the park i find it much easier and more fun without poles, however, i cant ski any back country or glades without em, i dont know why. lift line tho, such a pain in the ass.

whats strange is that for an entire year i thought no poles was the best thing in the world. i picked up poles for the jib academy at 7springs and felt so much more comfortable in the air with them. now everything seems a lot smoother with less arm flailing in the air and on the rails. still though if im going to do some hand drags or pow skiing i leave my poles behind. skiing pow sans poles is amazing, just make sure you keep your speed up.

I ski technical and powder terrain all the time without poles. I personally find them to be pointless extra weight to carry.

i stopped when my trusty rentals i "found" broke, its fuckn awesome you get grabs better less likely to flare in the air, better control on rails, and you only need somebody with poles to hold you back from hitting the people infront of you well in line

skiing without poles is like having sex with a fat chick. its super fun but then it gets even funner when you gang up with your friends!

I was just messing with friends today with no poles and it was a lot funner than with poles, just for a while then it gets hard to just ski regular

you still dont need poles.
i dont use poles, cause i cant.
it makes you a better skier, because you dont have that crutch and have to get the right balance and stand in the right spot at all times.and the lift lines teach you edge control without poles.

I broke my new poles a couple days into this season and started using my poles from many years back. I went from like 125cm poles to 75cm poles this season. I get tons of funny looks in the lift lines

i think it is really beneficial to be comfortable with both.

i went all last year without and all this year so far (except for a couple park runs).

i think my no poling last year helped a lot with style and creativity in the park.

using poles this season has helped me push my self comfortably in the pow.

i broke my poles recently so ive been borrowing but im going to either buy/cut a pair of short -ish poles so it is still light but still touching the snow when its knee deep.

Grab?

I used poles forever, and i broke them last weekend, so this weekend i just went no poles and it was a lot of fun. I might be switching to no poles in the park.

worddddddd
on rails i feel fairly unstable to begin with, with no poles im a mess haha.
on jumps i cna handle it with out poles haha.
