hey guys my goal was to learn front flips and back flips for up coming skiing season. i met my goals this summer, i can fronflip on a trampoline fine and i can back flip if im standing 4 ft high on something. can you guys give me some tips to think about to help me land both front and back flips this winter? or any other ways i can pratice and get better at fronflips and back flips? all tips are welcome. thanx guys!

If you can jump off of something 4ft and do a back, you obviously have balls...that was the advice I was going to give you...balls. WAskier720 can give you the cock.

the best advice i got when learning backflip was to pretend your holding a hoola-hoop in your hands. put it above your head and put your feet through the hoola-hoop. it sounds kinda dumb but it really helped me to do them on snow

last time it was so cool, i was walking outside and the grass kept saying ouch as i walked on it, and then i looked up and pulled a star out of the sky with my hand and took it apart

Like alpentalik said, probably the most critical aspect of throwing a trick is getting the balls to do it. If you've been back-flipping off objects then you're good to go for that part.

Anyway, when you first decide to start throwing inverts, get yourself a nice powder kicker because you're sure to crash at least once, unless you're Chris Turpin. I would recommend going for the front flip first, to get the feel for going inverted. A front is, in my mind, technically more difficult than a back, but mentally easier. You know the routine. Ski up to the jump at a good pace, put your hands in the sky, get a good pop, throw the hands down, tuck and bring your legs up and over. You'll get the hang of it quickly.

The backflip is scarier at first than the front, but once you do it, you're good for life on them (it's like riding a bicycle) and they are sooo goddamn easy. Get a good pop, throw your upper body back, look straight back for your landing, and bring your knees up and legs around. You'll probably over-rotate the first few times, but you'll get the hang of it and learn to leave your legs behind a bit to stall out the flip. The tighter your body, the faster you will flip.

Good luck.

i dont know why you cant do them cedric, probably cause you suck, ahahahahahahaha

The best advice i can give you is make sure you push off the lip of the jump with a good force, it makes them a lot easier.

once youdo one, you'll ask yourself why you didn't try them sooner. They are technically easier than a 360. make sure your body is pinned coming off the lip and tilt your head back (look fo rth elanding) and gravity does the rest. you may want to stuff some charmin in yo pants the first few times, you may over rotate and smack yo ass.

and dont wear goggles that you care about cause you can under rotate and break them (and your face) haha, have fun

i can't believe you backeed off something 4 feet off the ground. thats crazier than trying a standing one. howeever, i REALLY wanna do a standing back, what is the first step to try it?

also, i just know that icould run to the end of liek a picnic table, jump on the edge, and backflup off, any tips or trying to safely?

ok but what should i try first front flip or back flip? which is easier do u guys think and what are some tips for front flips? anyway i can pratice fronts and backflips this summer a lil more?

i think its what u feel more comfertable doing.. i lernt fronts 1st because u dotn need much air and if u mess up u cant get hurt that bad... once i got the balls to try a back it was easy i landed my 1st one but there so scary, it felt like i was gonna smash my face in the grond then my legs wip arond and i landed... what feel right for u i guess

first, forget everything you learned about fronts - they are pointless, blind, and won't help you later on in life for any trick you want to do.

and for backs, just hump the air infront of you and lean back when you hit the jump, when you see the landing bring your knees in.

did you hear the hula hoop thing from trennon paynter? i got the very same advice...

backflips were so much easier to learn then 360's the key is not to sling them, and to make you sure you pop. the pop is so key. also think about pushing your hips forward aka humping, in darryl terms and not dropping your shoulders back. backflips are really fun and so much easier then fronts because a) you don't need so much power and b) you can see your landing as you come around.

okay. i've said this soo many times

backs take more balls for most people, but technically they are much safer. you can spot your landing from the point you go inverted and then on. on a front flip, your landing is blind until you have pretty much over rotated. i can do both, backs on water ramps and snow and fronts on water ramps, and i'm telling you, fronts are so scary, i dont think i'd try one on snow.

to do a front though, the best thing i can tell you is to get the best combination of your legs feeling like they are sliding \back from underneath you and pop.

ive never done a back or front, yet. my advice tho from my trainer is that a back is much easier than a front, and do not huck urself off teh jump. as far as doin backs off objects, u have balls but it probly wont help u when doing them skiing. whatever u do, on ur first try at back do not throw ur head back and let ur body follow, ull end up landing on ur chest. get a good size kicker or table, and when u pop b looking straight forward, tuck ur knees to ur chest and do that hula hoop thing lineskier was talking about, when ur looking at the ground try to slow urself for the landing and when u finally land reach for the landing and be looking straight foward. ppl r right when they say 3s are technaically harder than backflip, theres no tip drag, but just make sure u dont throw ur body backwards or u wont be trying backs till 03-04

I've been hucking into a pool all summer, there is no diving board, we just set up a small 3 foot tramp i have on the edge and I have done lots of shit backwards off axis like rodeos, but I have a mental block that tells me not to throw straight back.

I beleive whoever said above that once you get it it's easy, but it's getting past the initial fear that's a bitch.

for backs, use your hips for the rotating. don't just throw your head back. if you just throw yourself back with your head or arms then thatll fuck with ur rotation and youll have less control.

if u walk off atleast 1ce a day u will get bigger balls, the key to lerning tricks to to wackoff. its most affectiv in the morning cut uv cleard the tubes and fresh to go, that should help to get your balls up

like some other people said the most important thing is to pop off the lip. alot of people try backs and fronts, but forget this and then eat it hard

Ground Flips

djextreme - standing backflip off the ground is not a good idea to try unless you are some gymnast. Tricks on ground are fun as hell, but are ballsy. If you want to try some stuff on ground follow this:

Practice-

If you have a tramp, try doing flips with little if any bounce.

Once you got that, Run and jump into a pool and try flips (having a mini tramp set up is going to give you too much height, way more then you'll get if you are trying it on ground)

Actual-

Now go find a picnic table or anything with around a 4 foot drop onto Flat ground, and at least 10 feet where you can run up to it.

Before you try flipping off it always straight air it - as it will give you an idea on how fast you gotta chuck yourself and how the landing is going to feel.

Run like a crazy mofo up to it, get a damn good pop off it, and throw with your head (you have to be looking the whole time)

It's all about head :)

Hey, If you want to see me throwing misty-5's over steps and lincoln loops on ground - as well as some ski/snowboard footage check out:

Thanks you guys, give me an email or something.

peace.

nevr landed fronts but ive tried.....put your hands behind your knees and trow your legs over your head......i get all the way around i usully land on my ass or overotate to faceplant

dont spank the monkey

i am going for my first backflip as well next season, i can do them on the tramp fairly easily, for some people it just comes naturally cuz my friend Riley can throw them without even thinking about it, the advcie he gave me was just do it, he said its just a matter of committing yourself, he said that is the hardest part of throwing your first back, committment, and im not going to do one until a nice powder day just in case, good luck to ya with the flips there, im kinda in the same boat as you bro.

'remember to love all, trust a few, and do wrong to none' (Shakespeare)

backflip or frontflip on skis = potential suicide. anywayz...i can do a standing backflip and a running front flipping on the ground. Backflips are much easier to do physically than frontflips. But backflips are harder mentally; well they are for me. when doing a front flip on the ground think: jump high and spin really, really fast. and for the person who is doing back flips off 4 feet tables, thats a lot harder than a backflip on the ground. so a standing (flat ground) backflip should be cake for you.

true. i think if i tried it off something a few feet high id probably over rotate. on the ground you rotate as fast as possible and it gets you right back to your feet.

i can do fronts, i hurt my back on one last year haven't done one since, personally i just think they're ugly and sorta pointless
