Freeskier and hollister? wtf

so i was doing Christmas shopping for my sister. and for the sake of the holiday, i bravely ventured into unbareable land known as hollister. as i waited in line, i noticed they have their own little magazine rack. as well as CDs featuring emo artists that they blast at levels that should never be reached with emo.

i looked down the rows and saw magazines such as vibe, vogue, transworld snowboarding, Surf, and skate mags. then i saw POWDER and i was like "wtf?" thinking in my head (please dont let me see a freeskier, PLEASE!)

unfortunately, to my horror, i stumbled upon a freeskier, the anniversay edition. i was bummed.

its a sad day in the world of skiing
 
get over it. pretty sure its better for everyone that hollister is carrying that shit...means that someone over at hollister had enough know how to pick up 2 pretty sweet skiing magazines. means freeskiings coolness is spreading, and why would you wnat to hate on that?...anything along the lines of "i want skiing to remain CORE" is straight silly.

Freeze was awesome too, it's a shame to see those two go.

and that does suck about Freeskier, but it's not Freeskier's fault, anybody can get a subscription, they're just trying to market their magazine.

as for Hollister, FUCK that place - i remember three or four years ago a few girls in my highschool had Mammoth Mountain shirts on and "Ski Tahoe" shirts, I got soooo fucking excited only to find out they had no idea what/where Mammoth was or what Lake Tahoe was - and that the shirts were just random fucking Hollister printed tee shirts that they had bought at the mall.

It's funny how skiing can be "trendy," considering 99.9% of the world's population has no idea what a "freeskier" even is.
 
the little town of Hollister is a wonder unto itself....

sidewalks don't line up. front porches seem to be missing steps. random sinkholes in backyards. retaining walls at odd angles.

the earth itself said "fuck hollister" and thru seismic activity is devouring it up
 
gnar appearance? are you kidding me?

the vast majority of the general population still thinks skiers where neon and spandex. don't kid yourself that people think skiing is cool.

 
There is only one thing you can do, avenge skiers everywhere!!! Just run into the hollister grab all the skiing mags and run like hell while being chased by some metro teens!!
 
yeah,

its cool to be "core", but, the more popular it gets the better your skis will be,

the more companies can survive ect.(at least idealistically)

there will always be "core" companies,

so you can will always be able to get stuff that all the kids skiing cause its cool dont know about,

(that is, unless thats you already :0)

money is good.
 
hollister buy the mags from a distributer, however, because it's a highlly commercialized business freeskier and powder have to OK it, but why wouldn't they? that's tons of free publicity for them and our sport, and i'm just gunna leave it at that, anyone who knows me knows my history with hollister
 
i dont understand why everyone wants skiing to get more publicity. If skiing becomes the next cool thing to do it will make a bunch of kids want to ski just to be cool, not because they actually like the sport. right now, everyone that is a skier loves skiing more than anything. But look at something like skateboarding, of course there are a lot of people that really love skateboarding but there are also a lot of kids that say they skateboard just to fit in. Im not trying to hate on skateboarding it is a sick sport but I really dont want skiing to be the next fad that everyone does.
 
why is this a bad thing? are sport is getting more exposer? and dont hate on Hollister alot of their shit is so some comfy. I own alot of it
 
I heard about this before but I refuse to walk into that store. My girlfriend is always going "Come on Jamie! Come in! No, I promise you wont burst into flames." Lucky for me theres a Gamestop right next to the Satan store so I just go play Guitar Hero
 
great....im all for freeskiing growing and all but its goin to turn into snowboarding in the sense that now kids are goin to be like omg omg simon dumont etc and want to ski and be all hot shot but really suck and its gunna be the "cool" thing to do. plus now that world industries caries skis more and more companies are gunna do that.
 
i hate hollister, abercrombie, and american eagle, b/c no matter who goes in there, they all come out looking exactly the same!!!!

fuckin clones wit the same jeans that have the same little ripped pocket that is sewn back togeather and it just makes me wanna throw up to see how dumb some people are....

for god's sake, grow a pair and be your own person...jeez!!!!!

you guys are like the stupid little kids that start to hate on "core" or little known bands when they "sell out" (read: get a hit single). obviously people see skiing as "cool" because holister is all about "cool".
 
it is kinda good and bad with that skiing does become more cool and people don't think you are an idiot for skiing but also you get kids on twins that shouldn't be ones that really don't have a passion for skiing but just are doing it cause it is "cool "
 
i went into hollister yesterday for the first time to but xmas stuff....jeebis. so loud and dark you cant even think let alone see the clothing. psshh i dont like that store one bit
 
this thread merely reinforces the fact that 90% of this website is a bunch of teen agers who get beat up at school and are not popular what so ever. if you were, you wouldn't give a shit, and you'd probably buy the shit from there and a&f, but since you're on here and the anonymity of NS lets you speak freely about shit you post whatever the fuck you want and way to jump on the band wagon i can practically guarantee that most of you that have posted have at least 3 items from either hollister or a&f
