Freakout demo is out

Ok, installer takes a little while to unpack, just give it like 5 minutes to sort itself out. Hope that helps!

And as for the game. WOW. Nice graphics, sooooooo smooth. I've yet to really master the controls, but so far, DAMN. Nice job guys! I'm def. going to buy the full version!

Regrets - Landings a little wack, crashing gets repetitive, and the demo level leaves more to be wanted. And fucking hell... side flips and dinner rolls? = P, what is this JMMT2? But overall - this game has a lot, I mean a LOT of potential. Soundtrack is great too!

Ok, back to playing, I'll try and help people install it after I get my fix... mmmm, smooth switch skiing in powder!

So, so far you're the only one it's worked for? Why is everyone else having *.dll problems?

Did you do anything... special or different...?

same here.

can someone just give us a step by step of what they did? I've tried reinstalling and repairing it so many times now.

All I did was download it and pressed next next and finish and then went to start->All programs->JoWooD->Freeride Exrtreem....->Start Game and it worked. Anybody know if it's coming out on consoles?

This is really good, I mean I just spent my first run tumbling down the mountain ejecting left and right, but I like it, it should be easy. And guess what! You can't to back flips off of flat ground! Hooray!

I don't understand what happened to some of you guys, I downloaded my setup from the site that requires you to log in and wait, and once if finished I just ran the installer and played...

Pros:

Slow 180s are POSSIBLE.

Shiftys are "possible" (See Cons)

Corking is possible: Called "Bio Cork" though.

The game doesn't put you back on your feet automatically like SSX On Tour did. You're responsible for landing now. :D

Very fun overall.

Cons:

180s never register as a trick unless it is "Bio Corked"

If you're spinning switch and you start the spin too early, it will not register the first 360 degrees of your spin.

Shiftys take forever to do and don't register as a trick.

So far... 4 grabs that I can find total. Safety, Mute, Tail Blunt... and something else, can't remember.

No idea...

Few other notable things that I forgot:

To my current knowledge, switch ups are impossible.

Spins on to rails do not register.

Any spin off of a rail will register as a new trick, and will be "360" or "540" not "270" or "450".

Zero spins don't register, which is understandable, because if it did every single switch air off of rollers would register as a zero.

the .dll file thing isn't good... are you guys installing it in the right place? Should be jowood/freakout... check the location and see if the .dll is there. I see three files in mine -

fdom.dll

msvcr71.dll (7.10.3052.4)

msvcr71.dll (7.10.3077.0)

If you're missing one of those, try reinstalling to the directory it prompts (might just be some weird location thing in the installer). If that doesnt work... I dunno. I could host these three files for you guys and you could just try copy/pasting them in?

Oh, and more of the game: Great graphics, wohoo!! I love the three axes of rotation as well. However, like SSX and previous games, rotations can get kinda weird. Smooth rodeo's and mistys are totally possible, but the game has a hard time making smooth rotations, and tends to jerk on the front/back axis a lot. Corks are SICK. Use the roll keys and spin keys to make some sick ass corks and bios (roll right/spin left gets you corked, so sick!!!). They do have D-spins in the game, as well as dinner rolls, rodeo's, misty's, cork, bio.... even underflips!

However, while the trick labeling is there, a lot of the time, the trick you do doesnt show up (and you dont get the points!!). The game is also terrible at counting rotation (which doesnt help the previous problem certainly). And rails are... depressing. The game is built for a BC type ski experience, and rails are, accordingly, pretty lame. Good luck with switch ups. I'd like to see how a park level would work, guess I have to buy the game now. Speed is also somewhat infuriating, it feels like I'm going so slow. And turning is more like splashing speed than actually carving. But still, great game, I've spent a long time on it already, and hungry for more.

Let me know if you need those files, I'll hang around on NS for a while to help you guys!

aaaaaaand my last point: switching spin directions in mid-air Pep Fujas style is possible, and way too easy to pull off.

Now back to studying for exams...

Ok, that .dll file that people have been getting errors with is associated with Direct X. A version of direct x comes with the game. If you opted not to install it in the rush to play the game, go back and do it! Otherwise, you might need to uninstall your version of Direct X and install the one the game provides!

i installed the new version of directx and it still didnt work but i'll just give reinstalling it another go.
