trust me guys, i know its all about personal choice and shit and we all have the ability to do what we want... so to narrow it down even more... i guess what im talking about is trends influence us all. sure everyone is like oh thats cool so im gonna do something like that. and dont get me wrong, that is how we progress our sport. it spurs people to be creative. like when you saw all the pros this last winter doing new grabs and shit and like the kangaroo flip, it makes more people be creative and think and try new things that have never been done before. that shit is awsome for real.
I guess my biggest "Pet-Peeve" if you will, is how you often you dont see this creativity on like a public level. Sure you see pros doin it and shit but those are like 10% of the skiing population and of coarse we will see there creativity beasue they are the only ones in major vids.
Like when i was in park city last year (no specific reason in using park city, just an example) rolling through the park it almost seemed like everyone was doing the same things the same way. thats not a bad thing because they did some sick shit, but i really only truly noticed a few people who really stood out. Ya know every rail someone would hit would be with like a switch up or 270 on or off, relativly moderate tricks but it was like if you arent doing a switch up or 270 on or off a rail u werent sick.
For me i have fun skiing doing what I want. not what i think i need to be doing but what i think will feel fun and express my self as a skiier. Sure that could be doing 270's on all day, and if you deep down truly like that then i guess ur head is in a good place, but if you only do 270's and switch ups because everyone else can do them so if you want to be considered good by your peers u must be able to do them, then thats where we are going wrong. Hopefully u all can understand me when i say that. If i see one of my bros do something, im not gonna want to do the same thing. im gonna want to try and incorporate a little bit of me into it. When i was at the usasa nationals competition in tahoe this spring break i had a fake mustache on during my pipe run. Everyone else was so serious and hung out in there groups and didnt even talk to any one else.
I will end this short novel i just realized i have composed but i guess to sum it all up, go ahead and do what you want, act how you want, but if u take one thing away from reading this great work of blogging literature, just remember why you do the things you do and then ask your self if why you do those things is really for the right reasons...
