when i tend to ski and we film right the colder the battery gets all the power is lost. any ideas on fixing this? or is this a bad battery?

If the camera is small enough try to wrap the whole thing in a thick sock and cut out sections for the necessary buttons, keep a bunch of spare batteries in a warm location like your pits or wrapped up in some form of cloth. Its the little shit that helps the most.

cold weather= short battery

i usualy just try to keep the batery warm by holding onto the back of it while filming.

This is a good idea. Batteries dont drain faster in the cold. You will find that if you warm up the batteries they will work again. Its just in the cold the molecules slow down in the battery causing it to stop quicker but if you warm up the batteries the molecules in it get excited and work more. This happens with Ipods and cell phones too...So just keep the batteries warm and they will last longer. Also, storing them in your refridgerator will make their life span alot longer just make sure they are warm when you use them. (Chemistry is my thing)

I don't think insulating the camera would do to much. I think the camera itself would have to produce heat to make that work, just like our bodies.

Trust me, Handwarmers work miracles! If you don't agree then try it and suurround your camera with a war cloth pack of insluted handwarmers!! ITs what kingskier chem major guy said!

bring handwarmers if you buy them in bulk then they aren to expensive. also turn the camera off when not shooting, use the viewfinder instead of the screen. cary batteries in inside pockets.

^^^ almost ALWAYS use the viewfinder, half the time when filming in sunny conditions, the LCD screen sucks anyways with the glare
