and this is exactly why I HATE the olympics mentality. "Team player" ??? that is not what skiing (especially freeskiing/freestyle) is about at all.
And Spriggs had a great comment, I would much rather see people supporting film segments and film skiers than comp skiers and the olympics. I bet that most of the "Olympic Team" couldn't even produce a film segment. get out of the park once and a while ya kooks. I've honestly never seen Walter Wood ski in my life, and I thought I watched everything skiing related.

Actually, not so bad. The fact that he called me an "older" lady doesn't offend me at all. Had he called me an "old" lady, that would be quite different. Tanner was very tactful there in his word choice, and he's won me back.

As far as a groupie goes. I'm fine with that. Groupie: "An enthusiastic supporter or follower"

And this is why skiing, mostly the new school community is fuckin wack! People poke fun, make jokes. It's life, you can't deal? T is a shredder. Surprised torin even opened his little teeny boppin mouth on the dude that is the reason he has a job that pays so well. Have some respect lil guy.

what a dumb thing to say... OF course Skiing mentality is ALL about working as a team? Do you think 1 person by themselves could ever make a ski movie? NO . You need to be a team player, and help your teammates, or crew . Not go around talking shit on the internet.

and you really think most of the OLYMPIC skiing team couldnt make a film segment? What the fuck are you on?

You're quite the trooper, I wouldn't have backed down to that. Tanner, stay on point, continue dominating skiiing but realize you've got your faults as well. Continue wrecking shit on the slopes and save the ail words for other times. You're the best damn skier I've ever had the chance to see and I can't wait to see you in the Olympics.

Off topic but Mary o is a pedophile. If it were a male in her position you'd all be running. # freeskiingssanduski

Well back to the original point... Everyone I know who have talked to walter says he's a d-bag

and heres a picture of the beatles

I do'nt know if anyone else read the whole fight but, eventually Downdays gets in the fight. It seems like a terrible move on T Halls move because more ski companies will hate him and he has chances of losing sponsers if he keeps acting like this

dude come on just shut the fuck up. you act like everything you say is infallable. stop calling him out for having a too much of a "limited wolrd" with skiing i feel like hes making himself look like exactly the opposite with this shit show anyway. i mean you of all people are coming up on 7000 posts why dont you go do something else? youre just making yourself look like an ass in these long posts anyway. and stop playing both sides of the fence too, that pisses me off, writing a long post calling him out but in the end being like "youre really great tanner! its just a little mishap heheh.." just be for or against him.

and please dont join the peace corps. or it would be great if you did, but dont go around waiving it in front of people on the internet like some credential.

Nobody gets your sarcasm man. I on the other hand, find it hilarious and wish I could shred with someone who gives so few fucks about being serious.

Skiing has always been a joke and I hope it stays that way. If you can't make fun of yourself, then you're just an insecure pansy.

JAH BLESS! MUCH LOVE FROM JAH ISLAND OF NORTH/SOUTH AMERICA. HOLDING IT DOWN IN THE 654 ALL DAY REPRESENTIN JAH IN JAH MAKING!

LYRICAL FI-YA!

Don't use that word if you don't know what it means. Your lame attempt at humor is just like your skiing...weak.

I have the utmost respect for everything he's done in skiing don't worry

Most definitely still the biggest legend in freeskiing to date and influences to me that won't ever change

But I'm just a 16 year old kid I'm surprised anyone has listened to a thing I say

Nothing has changed thus far except for hype that they suck and that we have a big building to use with lots of crazy shit in it to help you not get injured and I guess.. As far as "training" goes just gonna keep skiing everyday and have fun as anyone does and see where it takes me and if I make a living out of it and ski for a while that could be dope

Jon Brogan said it the best: " McDonalds & Whiskey fuck it yolo and 2chainz"

Any ways carry on I love looking at this thread because Snowboarding is badass too you know

But anyways for the most mind boggling skiing you should watch LSM's videos right now because he's one of the coolest dudes I've ever met and I wish I could do half the stuff he can

And S/O to 06 Extra Strong

People should just drop it, tanner shouldnt have acted out against walter wood but really, does anyone actually give a shit except the members of the team.

threads? how did I miss this

I'm pretty neutral on this though. T Hall's been this way since day one, and Torin brought up some good points even though apparently it was all a joke. Ski free, don't listen to people and do your own thing

The only way you can redeem yourself is by posting a video of you smoking with Tanner.

Naked.

In Jamaica.

Do It now.

This.

People take themselves waaaaaay too seriously. It's like a porn star wanting to be shown respect at work, I mean come on. OH NOES, THALL BUSTED SOMEONE'S BALLS! SOMEONE CALL THE CYBER POLICE!

Relax, people. Lighten up. Way too much shit in real life to get upset about to perpetuate drama and misinformation in others' lives. Tanner has always been an instigator and I personally think it's funny as hell how cranked up people still get over him and his shenanigans. It's skiing. Get over yourselves.

Skitards unite! Occupy giving a fuck!!!!

My buddies are friend with Billiard..Willem, I've met him once, hes a happy great skier. You know nothing, shut up

This opinion is completely irrelevant.

I understand exactly what you're saying. If you really look at worldly problems, skiing is basically the dumbest thing you can possibly do. As a matter of fact, it is actually the richest sport on the planet (by average HHI) including Yachting and Golf. So to be a skier is to be part of the super-elite who have nothing better to do with their money than ride flying couches up a mountain, and slide downwards on snow.

So for your argument to hold relevance on this website, we would need to all quit skiing, shut down newschoolers, close the entire ski industry and get all of our parents to donate half of their yearly take-home pay to starving kids in Africa. If we did this, then we can actually start to help the world.

However, the fact that the ski industry exists, and you (and likely your family) like to ski means that there is a real business behind the sport. Extend that to the fact that the Olympics are happening (and is what has caused this debate) and we now have the fact that there is an international need for sport competition.

So again, if we're now laying Olympics on top of it - for your argument to maintain relevance - we would need to abolish the Olympics, and all of sports. Solely dedicate all of our time to saving Africa. Go to work - take care of your family - spend all of yours and your family's free time saving Africa.

If we're not going to do any of that, and some people need leisure activities, then in order for those leisure activities to be successful, we need people that are obsessed and committed to them 150%. If we want to have X-games, have Olympics, and have sport... there are people that are going to dedicate their lives to it. This is perfectly OK, and in fact dominating a Niche - or living within one - is often a fantastic and successful undertaking.

Someone like Tanner is given money - which is driven by capitalism and market forces - to ski. He is given this money because people watch Tanner ski, and decide to purchase the products that he is riding on. Some people might not like his attitude - but that is irrelevant again - capitalism will save the day. If they don't like Tanner, they won't buy his products, and people will cease to give him money to ski.

Of course, Tanner can act however he pleases and then ski like a champion. If enough people love his skiing, and don't care about his attitude - they might still buy that product based on their belief that if it works for an an athlete at his level, it must be good stuff. Again, companies can continue to pay Tanner because he is moving product in a leisure industry which people who have the economic means continue to support.

In closing, the fact that there is an industry of skiing, and it is recognized at an international level means that we need athletes that are committed to the sport with every ounce of their soul. If their attitude is something we don't like, then don't buy their product. You can not however in this debate bring up the idea that Tanner needs more world focus. He doesn't, he needs to stay focused on his part of our wonderful economy of the world and be the best skier he possibly can be.

TL;DR: If you claim on world focus, then you and everyone else has to stop skiing immediately. You can not continue to ski, yet bring up the idea that Tanner needs more world focus. He doesn't, he needs to stay focused on his part of our wonderful economy and be the best skier he possibly can be.

What is this wizardry you just pulled your post moved from end of the last page to here.................teach me your ways

I don't get how people like Tanner can possibly think they are any different than anyone else in skiing. Tanner isn't being clever, badass, or any better than anyone else in this stupid style vs. comp debate.

Look at Candide, we don't know anything about what he thinks of the sport right now, b/c he blew off and skied powder for years and made one the (most likely gonna be anyway) epic ski films ever. The guy doesn't stoop down to internet squabbles, push his way into ski movie interiews, and he only puts out quality content. I'm not really sure what Tanner is getting at here with the olympic hate, but if he really doesn't care why doesn't he just make like Candide and dissappear and do his own thing?

I respect Tanner and his skiing, because he is one of the legends of our sport. I just think there is a lot of hypocracy going on here.

fml I just wrote an entire response to this and then it got deleted in the process of clicking reply.

Ill make it shorter. I understand the importance of passion in the market. It creates specialization, which is the only reason a free market system can work. Tanner is specialized and contributes to the market economy this way. He is also a marketing asset for multiple corporations, which means he contributes in this way too. Therefore, boom bomb connect business works because of this passion that creates specialization.

Passion is also important because it makes humans unique. It makes humans, humans.

I never suggested every person in the ski industry throw in the towel. I jokingly made an exaggerated comment toward Tanner, when I really just wanted to suggest he stop trolling 16 year olds on Twitter. I have since come to realize why Tanner does what he does on the internet. Its funny.

Passion can be bad though because it creates extremism. While we obviously don't see extremism in skiing the way we did in 20th century fascist Europe, its still bad to take your views and scrutinize others. The fact that you replied to my post makes this point clear. It was bad that I took my extreme views and scrutinized Tanner. He was doing the same thing to Olympic athletes though. If you scrutinize them you are telling them their passion for competition is bad, which does the same thing for them that you thought I was suggesting for the whole ski industry.

Point and case: Passion and specialization are good, thank you for the novel Mr. Bishop. Passion can lead to extremism though, which is hurtful and annoying. One can seize to be extreme if they take a step back and look at things from afar.

I agree, some people take skiing far too seriousely, proclaiming they are "addicted to skiing" and stuff like that. For example people play the pity card way too hard when they get injured these days. You got hurt doing a recreational activity, while people on the other side of the world are starving to death just trying to survive. Your little knee injury is nothing.

Yes, skiing is a lot of fun, but people are getting way to caught up in arguments about the "state of the sport," what skiing should be like, etc. ? It doesn't matter how someone else goes skiing, skiing is skiing, who cares how some olympic athletes you will never meet ski, it doesn't affect you does it?

The fact that there is a dramatic hate thread on instagram with trolling, butthurt and personal attacks basically vindicates absolutely everything I've ever said about the internet.

This thread basically infallibly proves that Drama isn't Newschoolers fault. Too many industry people would believe this, and with one heartfelt swoop that idea is officially gone forever.

Long live the fucking internet. Breaking down barriers and showing you the real world all day every day.

im gonna leave this here, just for you. you might recognize it from a few pages back in this same thread. its very relevant:
