First Look at Sochi Slope Course

Park city replicated the design for the olympic course. The sochi course was released a while ago, pretty cool for pc to replicate the first hit imo!

pretty sure it'll be the same as for all the world cups,, 2 qualis and 2 finals run.It would not be very FIS'ish to change a comp format for 1 event

UM Harlaut..... has butters with them as well

Also if the jumps are as big as they are saying then there most likely bigger then what the guys have trained on....(if that theorys right then they should have plenty of air time to throw trips, maybe even quads, all those jumps look big air comp sized!)

Lots of people have multiple triples. Goepper, Brown and Henshaw have forward and switch ones, in fact Brown has at least 5 (triple flat 10, 12, triple cork 14, 16 and switch triple rodeo 12)

I'll tell you why. If you do you will see the most boring rail tricks ever. If someone just stuck their triple, they won't risk anything on the rails. Every comp I have seen with rails after jumps this happens.

Let's speculate a little.

If they sticked to the plan, then the image below suggests that there are 236 feet from the lip to the Big Air Dave zone (or that crazy ass-naked Japanese guy zone). Assuming that olympians won't be taking it that deep, then it would be safe to say taking it to the middle of the landing is, maybe, the deepest they'll take it. After some solid 30 mins of calculations, I came to the conclusion that there are a total of 118 feet to the thug zone (and I'm not even talking about gucci plateau).

I'd say they're pretty big!

Hope the speed's not gonna be an issue, gotta suck to knuckle that last jump... Good luck to anyone who decided to go without their ACL's (Y).

Oh my lawd. I hope everything works out weather wise and speed wise, cuz some sick shit is about to go down.

Sweet mother of marry those jumps are huge. Little concerned though the last thing the IOC wants is people getting severely injured on an event that is happening for the first time in the Olympics, in front of a massive audeinece

Excited to see this course in action!!! Also cool to see the Grandstand where I'll be sitting there in the background of the last kicker!Still Bummin hard that I won't see my idol there though.

I love how everyone is shitting their pants worried about injuries. You're a lot more likely to get hurt on a poorly built jump, regardless of size, than on a big one where the transitions match and the speed is right.

These guys hit jumps that are 70 ft. to the knuckle pretty much all winter long. Sometimes 80, or slightly bigger for film shoots. They take those jumps regularly 100ft. and bigger. These guys are not going to be intimidated by jumps that are 10-20 ft. bigger. Notice how all the athletes are taking pics alongside the take offs and excitedly tweeting away? It's not because they're concerned about the size. For years now, skiers and fans have been clamoring for jumps big enough to do these guys justice, now they've got them, so let's not get all gerber about it now.

Russ Henshaw will still not pop and barely clear the knuckle, and Henrik will still take it 20 ft. past the sweet spot.

Downhill is still by far the most dangerous ski discipline (by a fucking wide margin). People die, lose limbs, have seizures, and get flight for lifed out. In slope, people blow acl's, break collarbones, get concussions, and get ac separations. Let's watch the best get after it.

Well a lot of the girls are going to have serious problems hitting those jumps. A fair percentage of them will never have hit a jump that big. How many days of training do they have?

hahha most accurate post in this thread.

also it's not the mean I'm worried for with the size of these jumps...

the ladies on the other hand , that's another story..

Henrik said they got three days of practice starting tomorrow, then two days off, and then again three more days of practice. Runs will be insane!

they released the course design in the summer, so the builders of the grand prix likely tried to build something similar.
