First Look at Sochi Slope Course

He broke his collarbone so I guess he won't compete. It was on the very first rail he fell. Seems to me it's only the ladies that complain about the size of the jumps. I look forward to reviews from the skiers.

damn these jumps are pretty damn big.

Also, on the topic of big jumps, the current 9knights design pretty much implements they use ski-doos to get enough speed.

First slope rider down : Torstein Horgmo, may have broke his collar bone during trainings...

Fuck it, it could have been fun to see him on this slope.

totally not relevant but when I click on the number showing how many up votes you have on this post I get sent to a review of some old 08 armada skis..

And super bummed that Torstein wont be able to compete, one of the snowboarders I was really looking forward to watching

Sage Kotsenburg "RELAX, course is good here Jumps are big need a slight adjustment on the pop to match up with the landings, rails are fun just a little icy"

Dude, the Olympics haters need some straws to keep clinging to.

First it was "there will be no snow", now it's "they have too much snow and made the jumps too big".

That was pretty much the first thing I thought when I saw the full jumps, looks like they would all be pretty easy to take WAY too far.

inb4 snowboarders are now pussies..

I would like to hear what the skiers think about the course

From what I'm seeing on Facebook the skiers don't seem to bu unhappy with the course and are pretty stoked on it. Will be interesting to see some videos from the course.

Which might also answer the no lip question. The Grand Prix flat to drop down doesn't have a lip onto it, and if they're copying that setup, that would answer why there's no lip on the rail on the far left in Gus's picture

read the thread. Grand prix built their feature to mimic the one that Sochi and the IOC released a couple months ago, not the other way around.

The snowboarders that have voiced concerns tend to be either young, less experienced with X game level courses, or recently injured and thus a bit worried. I think for riders the heat is on - 2 or at least one triple is needed for snowboarders, and the course is not as forgiving as the Breckinridge course or X-games course. Such is life - they need to decide to ride within their limits.

In terms of Torstein - he is amazing, but is a stone cold charger and injured himself on a switch backside 270 on a rail. Shit happens, nothing to do with the course. He breaks something each year. So sorry to see him out but stoked he is who he is.

This course is going to favor the most experienced slope riders - as it should!

Thank god for Sage Kotsenburg - the guy rides like a king, has an amazing attitude, and is showing awesome maturity by saying the course will be fine and the experts are on it. Everyone is doing their best. Keep it positive, please.

Mike

I'm seeing that a lot too. Basically every course needs a few tweaks between the build and the contest but every once and a while displeasure with the course makes it out of the athletes meeting and to the social media/press. I'm not defending or attacking the course or builders right here. Usually when this happens, everything is blown out of proportion and will be fixed so there's no reason for people to actually make a fuss out of it.

What do all of these reporters in the UK or Australia know about slopestyle courses?

Who are the top five favorites? Go ask them if they think of the course.

Because the US mainstream media has always done such a great job of action sports reporting you mean?

From what I heard today: course is sick, everything is big, like Sage said in that tweet they need minor adjustments. But the jumps are massive step-downs and it was kind of icy today. (Almost yesterday in Russia time.)

Although not relevant to many of you... others will agree...

such a bummer for Torstein Horgmo. Getting hurt in the actual event is one thing but to go out in practice would be such a let down.

No he meant Russia. The host country is responsible for their budget, the IOC just supplements it, and in Russia's case defends it.

smh heath.

I read British and Australian articles about the jumps. No one in mainstream media actually knows what's going on.

The course will set women's skiing back at least five years

Snowboarders need to stop being pussies

Edollo approved.

Does ehv even know tom wallisch?

Lol so much for originality.

They could atleast pretend to not be copying American course designs.
